Does God want us to "sin less" in this life or to "stop sinning?"

Also, how is sinning less any different than sinning a lot?

Are we to assume that it is okay to murder as long as one does it less?
Are we to assume that it is okay to abuse children as long as one does it less?
Are we to assume it is okay to drink and drive as long as one does it less?
Are we to assume it is okay to steal as one as one does it less?

Paul says, "sin shall not have dominion over you." (Romans 6:14).
How can these words be true if sin is ruling the Christian life?

How is it moral and good to "sin less" vs. "sinning a lot" if a person claims to be Christian?
What is the difference between doing a little bit of evil vs. a lot of evil?
Is one good if they do less evil?
Can God agree with us doing a little bit of sin?
Why would God want us to be a slave to sin or the devil?

He wants us to stop sinning.

5 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? "My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him.
6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives."
7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?
8 If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?
10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.
11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. - Hebrews 12:5-11

Does God want us to "sin less" or to "stop sinning?"
Please use Scripture to justify your answer;
Thank you and may God's love shine upon you.

"Communion" is a time when you and God get together.
Becasue we are not in a constant state of communion
in this life, we live in Sin.

Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,
but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.
Proverbs 10:9

But over time we begin to
see how God would have us act well toward each other.
Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Galatians 5:14 The entire Law is fulfilled in a single decree:
"Love your neighbor as yourself."

Still, our condition is separation, and we must live with that.

Direct my footsteps according to your word;
let no sin rule over me.
Psalm 119:133

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight
by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become
conscious of our sin.
Romans 3:20

Romans 13:8 Be indebted to no one, except to one another
in love, for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the Law.

"thou shall not eat of it"

So ... the covenant God made with ADAM in the garden.

What is God's expectation of those of us who are not in the garden ... and, thus, have no access to the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil ?

Neither ... if you believe he has taken away the sin of the world ...

God abhors sin. The reason that God described Job as He did, is because Job "feared" God and Job "eschewed evil" (hated sin).

In addition, more specifically, there are seven things that God hates. I can post the verses if you like. (I just didn't want to look them up, cuz i was hoping you know the verses i'm referring to).

God wants us to believe Jesus and trust in the Atonement He secured for us on the cross.....

He wants us to be sinless in His sight, the whole reason for the imputed righteousness of Christ on us, wherein we place out trust.

But one is not really trusting Christ if they do not do what He says. Jesus says why do you call me Lord, Lord if you do not do what I say? James says he will show you his faith (i.e. trust, belief) by his works. James says we are justified by works.

1 John 1:7 says if we walk in the light as he is in the light, the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. This is the true imputation of Christ’s sacrifice. You need to walk in the light. We see a similar thing in Romans 8:1. Walk in the Spirit in Christ Jesus so as not to be under the condemnation.

But how is one trusting God if they are disobeying Him?

Oh, and where are those Scripture verses I was asking for?

Jesus said:

… Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you.
John 5:14

"Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more."
John 8:11

And he claimed to be speaking what God has commanded him to speak:

For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. I know that his commandment is eternal life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak."
John 12:49-50
