Hola, me llamo Rob. I am a mostly self-taught Spanish student looking to practice my language skills. Right now, Duolingo says I'm 15% fluent, though I doubt that. My goal is to move to Los Angeles, where it would be helpful to know Spanish.

¿Ayudame, por favor?

Woah! Spanish is extremely similar to Italian, I could understand it, surprisingly from what you guys said.

The Romance languages are pretty close (and Norse languages). :)

Es difícil conjugar los verbos en español. Yo estudié español en escuela por seis años y nunca aprendí a conjugar verbos.

It is difficult to conjugate verbs in Spanish. I studied Spanish in school for six years and never learned how to conjugate verbs.

(Side note: if I make a mistake, please feel free to correct it.)

If you get a copy of a Bible in Spanish and for example read John chapter 1, you may find yourself understanding a lot of it, because the language is simple and clear in any case and you may be familiar with the passage already. It's a good way to learn languages. :)

Sometimes there is a deep reason for doing things; other times there isn't! :)
Hey Farouk, were there any times where there were problems with you and God? Say for example if you kept on sinning against him?

I have greatly benefited from John's First Epistle, where it speaks of walking in the light and the continual cleansing by the blood of Christ. It's a great Epistle to read. :)

You studied Spanish for six years and they didn't teach you conjugation?? For shame on those teachers. I don't have a good source on hand for you to study, but almost all verbs ending in -ar are conjugated the same; this is also the same for verbs ending in -ir and -er. Once you learn those three, you have like 95% of verb conjugations, and then you just need to learn the past, future, and subjunctive forms (I know, fun right!) It's really just a memorization process; there are special verbs like ser and haber and the verbs ending in car/gar/zar have their own special conjugation rules. Just practice, practice, practice.

Getting the basic grammar and using the Reina-Valera version of the Bible daily can be a giant step forward for anyone learning Spanish! :)
