Was the Sabbath the first "labor union" law?

Has anyone else thought that the law of the Sabbath was equivalent to today's labor union laws? Even in the New Testament it is stated that the Sabbath was made "for men", and not the other way around. What do you think?

Chick-fil-a, a company notorious for closing on Sundays has just recently stated that their reasons for closing on Sundays were NOT religious. But they were actually for "employee satisfaction".

But I do wonder if when Paul says that Jesus came down and "took the form of a man", if what he was really referring to was that Jesus left his position as a son of the ruling class, and purposefully chose to become a member of the working class. I got that feeling when he was talking to the Pharisees and quoted the Psalm to them about them being "like gods", whereas he was just a "son of God". A title which they had apparently questioned in the story.

I've always thought that;

From each according to his abilities
To each according to his needs​

had a certain affinity with;

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven​

I am now beginning to wonder if Jesus' philosophy was an early form of proto-Marxism
or
If Marxist philosophy is actually a secular form of Christianity.

I need to retire to my garret (with Absinthe and cigar) to cogitate on this.

Considering that the Israelites had just been freed from 400 years of slavery in Egypt, I doubt labor unions and employee satisfaction were in the picture. God said that we He commanded was for His people's own good (Deuteronomy 6:24, Deuteronomy 10:12-13) and I think He was onto something. However, the Sabbath was not a day off our work to do whatever we wanted, but a day set apart for a specific purpose.

I think that Sabbath laws are there for balance. Perpetual creativity is chaos. There is no predicatability in a world that is constantly being recreated.
God rested on the seventh day, finished his creative work, and that is who we are emulating by participating in his Sabbath. Sabbath is our own "It is finished" moment. We look at what we created throughout the week and recognize its inherent goodness.

How can you put demands on people to DO something special on the Sabbath? Especially if the character of Jesus said that the Sabbath was created "for MAN"? Not the other way around.

Fortunatly, I'm not aware of any such things in this day and age.

Was this law ever executed against anyone?
I know of no record of this actually happening.

I don't believe the story of Moses was originally written to be taken literally. And I certainly don't think the authors of the New Testament stories believed in Moses either.

The NT authors quote the OT as though they are real people. For example:

John 8:45-46 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope. 46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”

Jesus talked about Moses performing acts of accusing, of having hopes pinned on him, of being believed, and of writing, an so he clearly was speaking about Moses as though he were a real person, and I don't see anything that refers to him as though he were not, so what reason do you have to think that they didn't believe in Moses?

The point of taking time off from our work is to make time to do something special. The Sabbath is a precious gift to us and the point of saying that it was made for man is saying that it is made for our good, not that our good should suffer on account of it, and certain not made for us to spurn.
