John 4:19-26
19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I see that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, andyou people say that the place where people must worshipis in Jerusalem.” 21 Jesus said to her, “Believe me, woman,a time is coming when you will worship the Fatherneither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You people worship what you do not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews. 23 But a time is coming – and now is here – when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such people to be his worshipers. 24 God is spirit, and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” 25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (the one called Christ); “whenever he comes, he will tell us everything.” 26 Jesus said to her, “I, the one speaking to you, am he.”
I have read this numerous times, but when I read it and was like I was placing myself in the situation. Not just reading it but participating as a witness as if I was standing there listening and watching the conversation soaking it in as I realize that Jesus is telling her that she has no husband, been married 5 times and the man she is living with is not her husband. Thinking how amazing it would have been to actually stand there at this time.
Jesus then tells her that "salvation is from the Jews But a time is coming – and now is here – when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth."
Jesus is witnessing to her I am learning how to witness for Jesus.
Then the woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (the one called Christ); “whenever he comes, he will tell us everything.” 26 Jesus said to her, “I, the one speaking to you, am he.”
I am standing in awe of what has just happen! The woman knows the savior is coming and believes that the savior will come one day. That is the faith gets people of the old testament into heaven. Jesus then tells her "that the one speaking is he." God manifest in man tells a woman that He is the one she is waiting for the savior of the world.
I read this tonight in a way that I have never read it before, I was moved and amazed by what I was reading. I can never imagine what she must have thought or felt at the instant he told her that he is the savior.
Don't just read the bible experience it.
