Luke 6:34-35
If you lend money only to someone you think will pay you back, will God be pleased with you for that? Even sinners lend to sinners because they think they will get it all back.
But love your enemies and be good to them. Lend without expecting to be paid back. Then you will get a great reward, and you will be the true children of God in heaven. He is good even to people who are unthankful and cruel.
Luke 11:5
And he said to them, Who among you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight and say to him, Friend, let me have three loaves,​

Hannah consecrated her son, who was not of the Aaronic line, to service in the Lord's temple. Taking her vow she loaned her son to the Lord much as the Father has loaned His Son to us.

She had been barren but the Lord gave her the desire of her heart, which was also the desire of God's heart.

1 Samuel 2:35
I have chosen someone else to be my priest, someone who will be faithful and obey me. I will always let his family serve as priests and help my chosen king.​

In giving Hannah a son to fulfill the desire of her heart God was also fulfilling His desire to replace the Aaronic priesthood with a Nazarite priest. A nazarite is one who takes God as his Head, considering God as Husband.

In our time on earth now we see this fulfilled in Christ, the Head of the church. The Priesthood has progressed past that of Aaronic and Levitical priesthood and with Christ's resurrection has become the priesthood of Melchezedic. He has granted us to sit there with Him as His many priests of a vow to serve the Father's chosen King.

That which we willing loan is ourselves in reasonable service. Romans 12:1-3

Just to be clear .. The thread is based on both books of Samuel because of the effects of her prayer in co-operation with God.

Hannah’s Prayer
1 Samuel 2:1-10

Then Hannah prayed and said:

“My heart rejoices in the Lord;
in the Lord my horn[a] is lifted high.
My mouth boasts over my enemies,
for I delight in your deliverance.
2 “There is no one holy like the Lord;
there is no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God.
3 “Do not keep talking so proudly
or let your mouth speak such arrogance,
for the Lord is a God who knows,
and by him deeds are weighed.
4 “The bows of the warriors are broken,
but those who stumbled are armed with strength.
5 Those who were full hire themselves out for food,
but those who were hungry are hungry no more.
She who was barren has borne seven children,
but she who has had many sons pines away.
6 “The Lord brings death and makes alive;
he brings down to the grave and raises up.
7 The Lord sends poverty and wealth;
he humbles and he exalts.
8 He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes
and has them inherit a throne of honor.

This something I wrote back in December 2015 on Hannah's prayer. I rejoice to tell that my prayer (last paragraph below) has been fully answered and HE has caused me to enter into the promises I could see by the measure of faith and grace He lavished upon me.

December 2015:
1 Samuel 2:1-10

Hannah's prayer has captured something within me. The depth with which she knew God is what I seek, diligently. It is what I want more than anything else in this life. Her faith was unwaivering and God knew her heart. She had uncompromised confidence in her God. To do the impossible (anything less is of human understanding?) She expected it, not just hoped for it. Do I expect or am I only hopeful? I believe we should expect it as the natural course for those who are true Believers. Still being hopeful instead of expectant speaks to a lack of faith.
When I look at Hannah (and all great believers in the Old Testament, even Abraham!) and what set her (them) apart was the fierceness of belief in God and all that HE IS. The great I AM. This is a requirement for us all to see - the Fullness of God. If we truly hunger and thirst for this, we will be satiated.
Deuteronomy 8:3 - man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.
Matthew 5:6 - hunger and thirst after righteousness and "they shall be satisfied."

John 6:33-35, Psalm 63:1

She didn't just say it. She truly believed it. She stood on that. Knowing God had the power to keep her womb barren. She pressed on faithfully to the point of confidence that God could and would cause her womb to open.
Is our level of Righteousness not based on the depth of our Faith? Has our mustard seed continued to grow? Jesus Christ, in parable, compares our faith and The Kingdom of Heaven to the mustard seed. Faith MUST grow or we will never SEE The Kingdom of Heaven?

Matthew 17:20 Matthew 13:31-32 Luke 17:6

Hebrews 11 addresses the faith we need to have based on the testimony of those counted righteous by their Faith that God would do what seems impossible to the human understanding.

The meaning of the name Hannah is "God favored me" while Samuel's name means "God heard" so just from that we can see that the change in priesthood came from Hannah's prayer, her vow according to Numbers 6:2 and also from God fulfilling both her and His desire.

Like Rachel and Sarah, Hannah had the 'other women' of the husband to mock her barrenness but also like them she was the apple of her husband's eye. Yet none of those husbands could console them. Only God was able to do that.
Her vow to God was that if God gave her a son, she would give this son back to God by dedicated him as a Nazirite, a holy man sworn to serve God all his life. ‘He shall drink neither wine nor intoxicants, and no razor shall touch his head.’

Her prayer of thanksgiving was certainly deep-felt as we've recorded in previous posts. Her gift each year to Samuel was a little linen ephod that marked Samuel as being of a priestly status.

It's interesting that Hannah would use that name to call on God. Her unique wordage is again exemplified!

Elisha's words “Those who are with us are MORE than those who are with them” seems to echo John "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" or Jesus saying He had 12 legions of angels at His command should He have chosen to fight those coming to arrest Him. Jesus showed Himself as one who came not to smite but to edify as was also Elisha's response to the king. A typology of Christ, Elisha rested in the assurance that they were there at hand, surrounding the saints, ready at all times. And in revealing that to the king it also exemplified

Amos 3:7
Surely the Lord God does nothing
without revealing his secret
to his servants the prophets.​

Which is now to all believers .. "we have the mind of Christ"

Interestingly there are 7 names for God in the new testament that we should all familiarize ourselves with because these are the names He uses in dealing with Christians.

The God of glory Acts 7:2-3, 55-56
In Hebrew the root meaning of the word translated glory is heavy or weighty. The idea is that there is no more weighty or significant being in the universe than Yahweh, for He alone truly is majestic and high above all.
The highest glory of the creature is in being only a vessel, to receive and enjoy and show forth the glory of God. It can do this only as it is willing to be nothing in itself, that God may be all. Water always fills first the lowest places. The lower, the emptier a man lies before God, the speedier and the fuller will be the inflow of the divine glory.

The God of consolations and patience Romans 15:5

I imagine that calling on all the powers of God to bring forth the desires of one's heart, when in alignment with the will of God, would have seemed logical to her (as great as her knowledge was of Him) just as our knowledge of Him now is paramount to our understanding of Him.

God expects us to follow thru on what we say. Only full commitment is good enough for Him

1 Samuel 1:10-11

God sees past your good words and images and sees you exactly as you are. Saying the right things can't compensate for not doing the right things

1 Samuel 15:20-22

Samuel held one of the most important roles in the history of the people of God. He was the last of the God-appointed judges, a person with profound spiritual steadfastness and leadership skills. His leadership ability proved capable of restoring proper worship to God during his lifetime. He was one of the most God-centered leaders in the bible yet he held to a respect for those he served. In short Samuel exemplified godly character.

Prayer is what we see at first glance of the book of Samuel to be the connecting link to God carried on thru in Hannah and Samuel.
God is willing and able to intervene for us when we seek Him with all of our hearts. James 5:16
But prayer without heart was one of God`s biggest complaints against the average person supposedly following Him. Hosea 7:13-14

Prayer of thanksgiving and gratitude are exemplified in the first part of the book thus covered so far.

The priesthood had been waning badly into one of absolute corruption. The disrespect for God was leading His people on the path of death. 1 Samuel 2:24 Their`s was a way of human reasoning therefore an offering of strange fire before God. Not at all what God responds to Isaiah 66:2 God seeks those who are willing to lay down their own desires in order to follow Him.

Not really. It boils down to the issue brought up at the First Jerusalem council in Acts 15 - which exempted GENTILE converts from following the Law of Moses. It did NOT include Jews who came to faith in Messiah. They still had (and HAVE) to follow the Law in a New Covenant way.

Paul making a Nazirite vow, and paying for the animal sacrifices for other New Covenant Jews ending their Nazirite vows, made himself a living example that even in the New Covenant Jews are to follow the Law.

Sorry I should have said not of the Aaronic priesthood.
The genealogy list in 1 Chronicles shows that Samuel was a Kohathite Levite, though not of the family of Aaron. It's inferred by some that Eli adopted him, placing Samuel in the family of Aaron so that he could become a priest. That's speculation too.

The restriction to priests of the line of Aaron of sacrificing referred to sacrificing in the Tabernacle. Normally sacrifices were meant to be offered only in the Tabernacle. However, there were exceptions. Samuel sacrificed as a prophet away from the Tabernacle, same as Elijah, later, sacrificed as a prophet away from the tabernacle.

Acts 15 is only about what Gentiles should abstain from for the present time. It says nothing about whether Jewish Christians should continue to follow the Law of Moses or not.
The Epistles declare only two of the restrictions to remain in force for the rest of the Christian era, namely the avoidance of idolatry and the committing of fornication. Both Jews and Gentiles now may eat black pudding if they want to.

What was outside of the gate that God had in place?

Give it to Eleazar the priest. It must be taken outside the camp and killed in front of him.​

Eleazar. The son of Aaron was a deputy High-Priest who was in charge of the slaughter of the red cow outside the camp.
The red cow was killed outside the camp of Israel and its ashes were stored there as well . The book of Hebrews picks up the image of outside the camp as it relates to Christ's death outside of Jerusalem.

Hebrews 13:11-13
for of those beasts whose blood is carried as sacrifices for sin into the holy of holies by the high priest, of these the bodies are burned outside the camp. 12 Wherefore also Jesus, that he might sanctify the people by his own blood, suffered without the gate: 13 therefore let us go forth to him without the camp, bearing his reproach:​

In the process of taking on our sins Jesus was sin itself and not worthy to be within the camp of God. God's holy presence in the cloud in the tabernacle demanded cleanness. Therefore, all the unclean (common) were barred from the encampment of Israel. To carry outside the camp was a symbolic gesture of removing the sin from the people

According to the Mosaic regulation, the red heifer's ashes were to be placed outside the camp and used in a ceremony for symbolic purifying from sin

Correct. And I am showing that in general, God has ALWAYS had people groups with differing roles.

IF you take off the blinders of "one size fits all" when reading Acts and the Epistles, you will see the different functions of New Covenant Jews and gentile Christians.
