The Ten Commandments very clearly show, that the Lord God Almighty, of the Holy Bible, ALONE must be worshiped and served. As there is NO other true God, ALL other “worship” and “service” is false and to the devil, and must NEVER be done.

I [am] the Lord your God…You shall have no other gods besides Me…you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, [am] a jealous God” (Exodus 20:1, 3, 5)

Jesus Himself said to Satan, when He was being tempted: “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve” (Matthew 4:10).

It is very clear from the Teaching of the Holy Bible, that “Worship” is ONLY to be directed to the One True Living God. There are many instances in the Old Testament, where God punished the Israelites, for their forsaking of Him, and “serving” false “gods” and “idols” they had made from themselves, instead of Himself.

And, yet we read it said of God the Father : “But when He again brings the Firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him” (Hebrews 1:6). If, as some teach, that Jesus Christ is a “created being”, then, it is IMPOSSIBLE for God the Father to command the angels to “WORSHIP” Jesus Christ. As Romans 1: 25 warns against, “worshiping and serving” a created being, than the Living God, which shows beyond any doubt, that Jesus Christ CANNOT be a “created being”. It is interesting that the Jehovah’s Witnesses, who deny that Jesus Christ is Almighty God, and blasphemously teach that He is a created being, actually admit the WORSHIP of Jesus in their Kingdom Interlinear Translation, where they translate Hebrews 1:6, “But when he again brings the First-born into the inhabited earth, he says: ‘let all God’s angels worship him”. (pages, 964-965. Emphasis mine). However, in their New World Translation, they use the English word, “obeisance”, instead of “worship”. This is done to show that Jesus Christ is not “worshiped” in the Bible, and therefore cannot be “equal” to Jehovah. The word “worship” is from the Greek verb, “proskuneo”, which has the meanings: “worship, do obeisance to, prostrate oneself, do reverence to” (Colin Brown, Gen. Editor; New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology, Vol. II, p.875).

As a created being cannot be “worshiped”, which is Biblically right. However, it has nothing to do with being honest with what the Bible actually says, but to promote their unbiblical heresies about the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Their bias is very clearly seen from their English versions, when the Greek word is used for Jesus Christ, it is rendered in English by “obeisance”, and when used for God the Father, it is “worship”. Why the need to distort what the Bible actually says about Jesus Christ, if, as the Jehovah’s Witnesses claim, that it does not teach that Jesus Christ is Almighty God? They also corrupt the Greek of Revelation 3:14, where they have mistranslated “he arche tes ktiseos tou theou”, by, “the beginning of the creation BY God”, so as to make Jesus as the first to have been created. The Greek is in the genitive case, and can only here be rendered in English, “OF God”. On the Greek word “arche” (beginning), Joseph Thayer says, “, "arche...that by which anything begins to be, the origin, active cause...he arche tes ktiseos, of Christ as the divine logos, Rev.iii.14" (Greek-English Lexicon, p.77. Emphasis mine). Thayer was a Unitarian, and like the Jehovah’s Witnesses, denied the Holy Trinity, and Deity of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. His definition of the actual Greek word is quite right here, as it very clearly shows that Jesus Christ Himself is THE CREATOR, and NOT a “created being”. Thayer here shows what the Greek says, and not what his own preconceptions (or, misconceptions) about the Person of Jesus Christ might have been. We also know of the corruption of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, in John 1:1, in their New World Translation, where it reads, “Word, In the and beginning the Word was with the God, and the Word was a god” (note says, or, “was divine”). In another of their versions, the Emphatic Diaglott, which I think they no longer publish, the English text on the right-hand reads: “In the Beginning was the Logos, and the Logos was with God, and the Logos was God”. YES, it does says “God”, and NOT “a god”, or “divine”! May be this was the reason they stopped publishing this version. I also recently pointed out to some Jehovah’s Witnesses, whom I was witnessing to about Jesus Christ, that their own New World Translation, published in 2013, reads in Isaiah 9:6, about Jesus Christ, “His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”. YES, again “Mighty God”. Clearly their OWN Bible teaches that there are TWO PERSONS Who are called “God”.

Let us take a closer look at the use of the Greek “proskuneo”, when it is used for Jesus Christ. And also when used for humans and angels.

When Jesus Christ was born, the wise men asked about Him, saying: “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him…And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him” (Matthew 2:2). Again, because of wickedness, the Jehovah’s Witnesses have again translated “obeisance”, so as to reduce its meaning when used for Jesus. Their deception is very clear from their mishandling of the Greek, which can be seen from just two chapters in Matthew, where we read of the devil tempting (testing) Jesus Christ, where, in verses 9 and 10 the Greek “proskuneo” has been translated by “worship”. Every time the word is used for Jesus Christ, it is “obeisance”, and used for God, it is “worship”. Very simply, because to have “worship” for Jesus, would be to admit the TRUTH about Him, and show that their own teaching about Jesus Christ to be FALSE. It is beyond me, that they can so blatantly LIE about what they teach, and feel they are right in doing so. It is spiritual BLINDNESS, which is their OWN doing, as the Apostle Paul says in Acts 28, “And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes” (v.27).

In the Book of Acts, we read the account of Peter visiting Cornelius: “As Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped [him]. But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I myself am also a man” (10:25-26). Likewise, in the Book of Revelation, we also read of the Apostle John, “ And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See [that you do] not [do that!] I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (19:10). And, again in chapter 22, “ Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. Then he said to me, “See [that you do] not [do that]. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God” (vs.8-9)

In each case, the “worship” offered was refused as Peter and the angel were not Deity, to accept such “worship”, but mere created human beings, like Cornelius and the Apostle John.

However, in each case where Jesus Christ is said to have been “Worshiped”, not ONCE did He say, “you must not do that, as I am just like you”, or such words, which, He would have done, IF He were also a created being:

Matthew 8:1-4; “When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

Mark 1:40; “Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”

Matthew 9:18-19; “ While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples”.

Mark 5:22-23; “ And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live”

Matthew 14:33; “Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God”

Matthew 15:24-26; “But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs”

Mark 7:25; “For a woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit heard about Him, and she came and fell at His feet”.

Matthew 20:20-21; “Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him. And He said to her, “What do you wish?” She said to Him, “Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom”

Matthew 28:9-10, 16-17; “And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me… Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted”.

Luke 24:51-53; “Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen”

In Matthew chapter 4 we have the account of the temptation of the Lord Jesus Christ, by the devil. Where we read: “Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve” (vs, 8-10). In yet another lie to Jesus, the devil “promises” Him “all the kingdoms of the world and their glory”, if Jesus were to “worship” him. In the first place, the “kingdoms of the world” are NOT the devil’s to “give”, to anyone. In the second place, and more importantly, in the Book of Revelation is says, “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become [the kingdoms] of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”. Here ALL the kingdoms of this world are said to belong to “our Lord [God the Father] and His Christ”. The Greek is interesting here, “basileusei”, which is in the SINGLUAR number, “HE shall reign”. But, surely this cannot only refer to Jesus Christ, and must also include the Father, as “The kingdoms of this world”, belong to BOTH, as BOTH are KING. This can also be seen from chapter 20, “Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years”. The Greek here has it, “tou theou kai tou christou”, where TWO PERSONS are clearly meant. And, like that in 11:15, the pronoun “autou” (Him) is in the SINGLUAR number. Only possible where BOTH the Father and Jesus Christ are Almighty God, NOT, if the Father is God and Jesus a created being. This is how Jesus can say in John 10:30, “I and the Father, one [singular neuter] we are [masculine plural]” (literal). TWO PERSONS, ONE NATURE.

In Matthew 4, you will see the words of Jesus Christ to the devil about “Worship”. It is very clear from this, that true “Worship”, is ONLY to God, and can NEVER be to a created being. In Romans chapter 1 we are told, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness…who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen” (vs. 18, 25). Which clearly forbids the worship of any created being. The passages that are in the New Testament, where “Worship”, is given to Jesus Christ, and ACCEPTED by Him with no objection, can ONLY show that Jesus Himself believed that He is Almighty God, and COEQUAL to the Father. There is no way that Jesus would have accepted “Worship”, which He himself said is to be given to “God”, if He were a created being. This is an IMPOSSIBILITY.

In the Book of Isaiah we read, “I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath”. Almighty God is here the Speaker, and says, that to HIM, and HIM ALONE, “every knee shall bow”. The Apostle Paul, who wrote under the guiding of the Holy Spirit, says this about Jesus Christ, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”. In the Emphatic Diaglott, published by the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Scripture reference in the footnote for this verse, is Isaiah 45:23, thereby connecting the two. So, here we have the Apostle Paul take a passage from the Old Testament, which speaks of “Worship” to Almighty God, and applies it DIRECTLY to the Lord Jesus Christ. And, not only this, but further says that by doing this, it brings GLORY to God the Father! Can any honest person ever say, that such language could be used for someone who is a mere created being? Only if they are very much DELUDED.

In Revelation chapter 5, we have the whole of creation WORSHIP God the Father AND Jesus Christ EQUALLY.

And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, the Blessing, and the honour, and the glory, and the might, be to Him that sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb for ever and ever. And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshiped” (vs. 13-14)

Note in the Greek text the use of the definite article “THE”, with “blessing”, etc., which denotes “ALL the blessings, the honour, the glory, the might”, there is in the universe, belong to BOTH the Father and Jesus Christ EQUALLY. You cannot separate this, as it very clearly says, “AND to the Lamb”. And then we read that the 4 beasts and 24 elders, “fell down and worshiped”. Again, the “Worship” cannot be said for “Him that sits on the throne”, only, and not “to the Lamb”. BOTH the Father and Jesus are EQUALLY honoured and praised, and BOTH WORSHIPED.

This “unity of Persons” can clearly be seen in Revelation 22, where we read: “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb…And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him” (vs, 1, 3). The Greek text is interesting here. In verse 1 we have, “tou thronou tou theou kai tou arniou” (the throne of God and of the Lamb). The word “thronou”, is in the singular number, and “God” and the “Lamb” (Jesus Christ), are clearly separate Persons. The same is in verse 3, with the addition of, “hoi douloi autou latreusousin autoi” (His servants shall serve Him), where, “autou” and “autoi” are in the masculine singular. Grammatically, these pronouns would refer to the nearest Person, which is the Lord Jesus Christ. However, as it is clear from the context, that BOTH the Father and Jesus Christ are “joint-Rulers”, that the “subjects” must be to BOTH EQUALLY. The language does show the “unity of Person and essence”, not that the Father and Son are “one and the same Person” (which is shown not to be the case with the use of the Greek article, “tou” [the], with each Person, and the conjunction, “kai” [and]), but, that their “Personal unity” is so close, that it can ONLY be because they are ONE ESSENCE, and therefore, God the Father and God the Son. I see no other explanation from the original Greek language and construction. Here, like chapter 5, we have BOTH the Father and the Son WORSHIPED EQUALLY. Joint SERVICE to BOTH PERSONS.

The Holy Bible, which is The Word of Almighty God to mankind, and therefore the HIGHEST Authority that we have on ALL matters it deals with; is clear to the FACT, that Jesus Christ is WORSHIPED EQUALLY with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.

Exactly!!! :)

I have a real quick question, and I will probably post this same question in several threads that I follow & participate in, in the hopes that someone will be able to answer this.

Recently, within the past couple of days, several people have suggested in these threads on the subject of the trinity, that the trinity is off limits for discussing on this website. When I was reading through the rules for each forum, that is not the impression that I got. My understanding was that it was just non-trinitarians that cannot discuss their views against the Trinity. Not that the entire subject was completely off limits for everyone to discuss.

Have I overlooked something?

I have not heard from any mods on this, so I assumed that none of these threads were breaking site policy, nor were any of my posts in defense of the trinity.

The rules regarding discussing the trinity seem to be confusing. Could someone please clarify (preferably a mod). Are Trinitarian Christians allowed to discuss it, start threads about it, defend it when someone misunderstands the doctrine, defend it when someone tries to speak against it, etc?

Are we allowed to discuss the doctrine in private messages through the "conversations" system?

I do want to respect the rules, so if it isn't allowed, I will cease participation on these threads. If it is a completely forbidden topic, then I probably will leave this website, as I think it is an important doctrine for Christians to be able to discuss, and to help one another understand it better. It is considered one of the essential doctrines to Christian orthodoxy.

Thank you.

For I, the Lord your God, [am] a jealous God” (Exodus 20:1, 3, 5)
...

Why did you cut the 2 and 4 away from this?

And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. [bondage: Heb. servants] Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me,
Exodus 20:1-5

According to that, we should not make any graven images and bow to them, or serve them. Jesus is not a graven image. According to the Bible Jesus is the image of one and only true God that is greater than Jesus (therefore not equal?).

in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins; who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. …
Colossians 1:14

the Father is greater than I.
John 14:28

This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ.
John 17:3

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
1 Timothy 2:5

And about worshiping, this was said to Jacob:

Let peoples serve you, Nations bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers, Let your mother's sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, Blessed be everyone who blesses you."

Gen. 27:29

Does this mean Jacob is also a God? No, the point is, we should not keep anything else as our god than the one and only true God that is introduced in the Bible. However, we can for example serve king, or bow to king, if we just don’t keep him as God. There are lot of examples in the Bible where people bow to people. So, if someone bows to king of Jews (Jesus), it is not against God’s law, if we don’t worship man as a God.

Do you believe that Jesus is God (and no, I'm not asking if you believe He is the Father. Jesus is clearly not the Father.) I'm asking you if you believe that Jesus is the one and only God, YHWH.

If you believe He is, then why not worship Him as Almighty God, along with the Father and the Holy Spirit?

However, given your previous post, it sounds like you do not believe that Jesus is God Almighty (which, by the way, you are not allowed to argue against on this website anywhere.)

SavedByGrace has given plenty of Scripture passages that show that Jesus was and is worshiped as Almighty God in the Bible. The angels are told to worship Him in Hebrews 1:6, as he pointed out above.

Revelation 5 is another clear example, which he mentioned above in his original post.

No, there is not more than one God. There is only one God.

However, within that one God is three Persons -- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

So...since the Father is God, then yes, He is the only true God.
However, the Son (Jesus) is also God, and is also the only true God.
The same is true for the Holy Spirit.

In John 14:28 Jesus said that while on earth.

I should also state that it is against the rules on this website to argue against this....

Great that we can agree on that. :)

However, within that one God is three Persons

The problem for me with that is, Bible doesn’t say God is three persons. It says:

… the Lord our God, the Lord is one: you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment.

Yes, the Bible says that there is one God.

It also shows that the Father is God.
The Son is God.
The Holy Spirit is God.

Conclusion: if there is only one God, and each of the three Persons is God, and they are clearly not each other (The Father is not Jesus, etc.), then the one God has to be triune.

I think the matter should be understood as the Bible tells it. Bible doesn’t speak about 3 persons, or triune God. Bible tells Jesus is the temple of God, God dwells in Jesus. Bible tells also that Jesus is the man (mediator) between men and God, Bible says Jesus is the image of God, King of Jews... I believe everything Bible says. And by that, Jesus represents God on earth. He has the authority to speak on behalf of God, or God speaks through him, because Jesus says:

For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. I know that his commandment is eternal life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak."
John 12:49-50

Jesus therefore answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I am speaking from myself.
John 7:16-17

This can be compared to a president of a country. President acts in the name of a country, all though he is not himself the country.

But again, don't believe me, believe what Jesus says, he is the King and his words are what gives life. :)

The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.

I think we are going to have a hard time having a discussion because I feel like there is a language barrier between us (it seems English is not your native language), and also that you are teaching against the Trinity, which is a violation of the rules on this site.

We are in agreement that there is one God.
The Father is clearly God, which we both agree on. We disagree in regard to Jesus.

I don't know what your religious background is. What church do you attend?

Matthew 28:19-20 (NASB)
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, l baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Three Persons there that are equal -- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit -- one God.

2 Peter 1:1 (NASB)
Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:

Jesus clearly is called God here. (The Father and the Holy Spirit are also God, though.)

When you say that the Bible says Jesus is the temple of God, and that God dwells in Jesus, I am assuming you are referring to verses such as these:
Colossians 1:19 (NASB)
For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him.

And
Colossians 2:9 (NASB)
For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,

Or maybe you were thinking of some verses from John? I'm not sure because you didn't specify which verses you had in mind. At any rate, both Colossians 1:19 and Colossians 2:9 show Jesus' full Deity. It isn't just the Father living inside of Jesus.

Yes, Jesus is the mediator between humans and God -- but that is because Jesus belongs to both groups. Jesus is both fully (100%) God and fully (100%) human -- at the same time.

Yes, Jesus is the image of God -- but not just an image. In a sense, if we want to know what the Father and Holy Spirit are like, all we have to do is look at Jesus.

Jesus both represents God on earth, but is also God Himself.

John 6:63
That is because Jesus is also the great I AM. Jesus and the Father are the same God, so there is a connection between the Father and Jesus that we can't even begin to exactly understand -- but they are the same God, although two different persons.

I consider myself a disciple of Jesus.

When you say that the Bible says Jesus is the temple of God, and that God dwells in Jesus, I am assuming you are referring to verses such as these:

Jesus says in this God lives in him:

Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works. ..
John 14:10

God lives also in disciples of Jesus, according to this:

But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Romans 8:11

That is because Jesus is also the great I AM. Jesus and the Father are the same God, so there is a connection between the Father and Jesus that we can't even begin to exactly understand -- but they are the same God, although two different persons.

This could help:

…for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God. He who doesn't love doesn't know God, for God is love.
1 John 4:7-8

Yes, God is love. As I said in the other thread, I don't think I should engage you any more in regard to a discussion about Jesus' deity because it will cause you to break the site rules, even though you are unaware of breaking them (I think this is due to a language barrier), so I don't want you to break the rules.

Read 1 Sam 8, perhaps you will become aware, that God was the King of His people, and Prophets were His servants. But as Samuel was aging, the people had less trust in Samuel's son, (who would take over for Samuel at his death,) then they had trust in God, their King.
They begged for an earthly king, and God warned them against that. The people persisted, and God gave them what they wanted.....boo hoo through the years how that often failed, as they should have had more trust in God.

Yes Jesus shall be King of the world, which is to say, Head of all governments of the World.
However IF you have met Jesus, you have met God.

God Bless,
SBC
