Why don't you read your Bible....Revelation 17 and 18 and Thess 2 then get back to me....
This is not about protestantism, this is about following the Bible...protestant religions are the daughters of the great harlot referred to in Revelation 17
You are not following the Bible, you are following the opinions of mentally deranged ignorant bigots with authority issues. Where in the Bible is the Bible used against the Church? NOWHERE. That's why you have been so sadly deceived. Revelation 17 does not say the falsehoods you have been brainwashed with.

How important is it to study the Church founders and do you think one can be a proper Catholic (by extension, a proper Christian) if they do not nor have desire to study Church founders and the development of doctrines from a Roman Catholic standpoint?

Lemme know!

Friend, how important is it to an Historian to study History??? Studying the early Church Fathers will lead all to become Catholic, and it has done so for many protestant pastors. Amen Amen

I am curious, do you want to become a Catholic?

As far as I can tell the only church founder that needs to be studied is Jesus. The apostles are important too. But people from later ages and the early church fathers are not a necessary study. They are helpful and interesting. That's not quite the same as necessary.

Ginger, you are wrong it is very important to learn about the early Church Fathers, it was they that you have your bible today, and it was they that have lead many protestant pastors who study their lives into the Catholic Church founded on Rock because what they taught then is what the Catholic Church teaches today because they themselves were Catholic. Amen AMEN

Ginger, read with an open heart the early Church fathers and I guarantee you, you to will have your profile reading here at CF that you are a Catholic.

A great many became Orthodox, myself included. Quite a few Catholics, on studying the early Church Fathers and church history have also become Orthodox.

I did not say that the early church fathers were not important I said that being familiar with and agreeing with their writings is not necessary. Their views are important. Even foundational for many matters. I read them and appreciate them.

Hi Ginger, "agreeing with their writings is not necessary"? Are you saying it not necessary because their writings / sermons /Mass of the early Church Fathers are what the Catholic Church teaches today?

Here is the game changer, ask yourself, why is it that these early Church Fathers teaching are so different from Protestantism today? This question alone has lead many protestant pastors into the Catholic Church. Checkout the (Journey Home Network).

The Early Church Fathers believed in the Eucharist being the 100% the Body and Blood of Christ that we MUST Eat and Drink in order to have life everlasting and be raised on the last day. These early Church Fathers who are Catholic, like St. Paul discerned that the bread no longer is bread but the Body and Blood of Christ, Above all Christ Himself has said so, one can not get any earlier than the Son of God.

Finding the Church that teaches what the Early Church Fathers taught and you will find their Church, the Catholic Church, that was founded on Rock.

Finding the church that "agreeing with their writings is not necessary" well, Ginger, I will leave that up to you to decide/figure out.

I am not a Protestant in the sense of buying into the "protestant reformer's" theology. They were rather bigoted people with lots of really bad ideas. What I mean by saying that agreeing with their writings is not necessary is that the early church fathers differ on various issues and no individual early church father covers everything so what they write - although interesting and important - is not the last word on every subject and hence agreeing with them is not necessary and knowing everything that they wrote is not necessary either. There were a lot of them and they wrote a whole lot. Too much for anybody to read in a reasonable time unless it is the profession to read them and know what they teach.

Ginger, you stated: "There were a lot of them and they wrote a whole lot. Too much for anybody to read in a reasonable time unless it is the profession to read them and know what they teach". Ginger That is exactly my point, thus why many Protestants Pastors have left the protestant church and our now Catholic, because it was there profession to read them and know what they teach. Amen

I've never understood why some Christians are afraid to go straight to the word of God, instead seeking to cling to the words of men.
You mean like the man-made tradition of Sola Scriptura, which is found nowhere in Sacred Scripture?

Or are you referring to the man-made doctrine of justification by faith alone, which is found nowhere in Sacred Scripture and which directly contradicts the language of Scripture?

Oh, come one now. My Catholic Bible still has Mark, John, Acts, Romans, Philippians, Galatians, Ephesians, and Hebrews in it. Less CCC, more Bible study.

And my Protestant Bible still has the book of James, even though Martin Luther, the creator of your man-made doctrine, tried to remove it from the Bible because it contradicts his false doctrine.

None of the books of Scripture that you mention above teach it, and most of them directly contradict it.

JayW. when you read any of St. Paul's teaching and adhere to them, you are seeking to cling to the word of a man.

JayW, Jesus Christ left men / successors to guide His Church and that does not stop at the end of the book called Revelations, it continues on to the present day in His Church founded on Rock.

The Catholic Church has both the Church and Bible the Word of God to cling to. Here is a game changer to those who have an ear to hear the truth: JayW. The Church came First then centuries later came the Bible. Before the Bible there was the Oral Teachings.

Nor did Christ ever establish a bible, however he established a Church founded on Rock, whose the Lords men would later compile the Bible guided by the Holy Spirit.

If you trust that the NT Bible that you read was Inspired by the Holy Spirt, then trust the Catholic Church who gave it to you. If you trust in the NT but want less CCC, you then contradict yourself.

Read them (apparently for the first time), then get back to us.
I have and I will. That doesn't change the fact that you believe a false man-made doctrine that is not found in Scripture, and that directly contradicts the language of Scripture.

I would appreciate it if you could refrain from attempting to insult me by insinuating that I have never read those books, because I disagree with your interpretation of them.

Your second sentence refutes the first.

None made, so nothing to stop.
No, you suggested that I never read Mark, John, Acts, Romans, Philippians, Galatians, Ephesians, and Hebrews. And you suggested again that I have never read them, even after I informed you that I had in fact read them.

Those are personal insults.
