My friend Andrei, whose son was killed, and his wife Regina, are in a pretty bad way.
I'm not doing well myself. Spiritual crisis, family conflict. All resolutions wind up being temporary. Darkest thoughts, depression that might be described as clinical.
My priest didn't like my book. My chief hope of support, and of ending my reputation as a kook, gone.
Other sources of sadness and depression. It doesn't always help to remind myself of the good. My youngest daughter is the best of those.

I finally reached out to an Orthodox priest today - Father Costas Pavlakos of St Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church, if any of you happen to know him. We're trying to find a time to meet up so I can ask him some questions and we can talk about the faith.
I also reached out to my current lutheran pastor as well as the pastor of my youth - the latter considered orthodoxy about 10 years ago and offered to talk to me about why he stayed lutheran.

Anyway, I'd appreciate y'all's prayers as I have these meetings and discussions with various clergy and consider my own faith and which tradition I belong to.

I've gotten through the latest storm. There are still dark clouds on the horizon, but the waters are calmer for the moment. Thank you for your prayers!

Thursday evening is going to be one of the bigger moments in my life - the official presentation in Moscow of the book I struggled five years to get in print, and I am one of the main speakers. It is complicated in that someone I really need to build me up and support me has been tearing me down instead. So it's a minefield. For me, it's huge. One of the most important things in my life, how people have perceived me for years, and how I hope that will change, and yet knowing that there are people who are opposed to this stuff, because it underpins the teachings of the fathers on marriage, and undercuts the ideas of people who seek to justify (especially their own) divorce. It's not a negative book, it's positive, but the positive means that we should see marriage one way (the way it had generally always been seen prior to our time) and not the way it has been seen in the past century. I don't care about me or my ego so much (well, a little, in that I want people to stop imagining I'm a kook), but I really want to see an end to the crazy spree of divorces among so many people that I know, especially in the Church.
I'd appreciate prayers for guidance, and that people's hearts might be opened, and not closed, especially one particular person.

There were over seventy people, more than twice the attendance for the previous GK presentation in 2015, it was standing room-only. I had to sign books and do a brief radio interview. But it's really big to me that my wife enjoyed it. It was like going with Mikey to a cereal convention.

much deserved, I am sure rus! I think your next project should be an Orthodox reader of Chesterton's works

It seems like a lot of my prayer requests are work related of late. So, I'm day shift now, and that is working out better for my life outside of work.

However, some of my former night shift co-workers have been less than charitable (to the point where it constitutes workplace bullying and I want to look for employment elsewhere). I've never had this type of experience before and it has been difficult for me. The only saving grace is that many of my co-workers have left and/or have also experienced the same difficulties at the hands of the same people in question. I know it isn't just me.

Anyway, day shift is even more difficult than nights as I have to contend with the extra stuff that goes along with intermediate level patient care- such as dealing with ridiculous egos of alleged professionals, family drama, and trying to get my patients to comply with what is in their own best interests (which is much more difficult than you could imagine). Regardless, my main issue is not whether to leave entirely, but whether I should go from full-time to part-time and then pick up a PRN job at the children's hospital. I find I miss working with kids (as I taught middle school for fourteen years) and have been wondering whether or not I should try my hand at pediatric nursing. There are plenty of directions I could go- but I've been oddly drawn to the ER aspect of pediatrics (specifically psych).

Please pray that I have direction on this before stepping into the unknown. I also have some unlisted requests that I would also appreciate you praying generally for. :)
