So, we aren't as righteous as Christ? Just making sure I understand your post. When it comes to the biblical definition of righteousness, the Son is the only one righteous. A saved person no longer considers the self, rather looks onto the righteous Lord to bless them with his righteousness.
So that no one may boast before him. 30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (1 Cor 1:29-31)
If one considers themselves righteous, then they boast of the self. It sounds a bit like.....
I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High."
It is blasphemy indeed!
So what you're saying is that
1. We are cleaned initially by believing in Christ, but He cannot keep us clean unless we do something.
You said:2. Christ works in us, but He's not sufficient to do enough to keep us righteous. He needs our help.
Indicatives.
You just affirmed what I said.No. The Bible says we are initially and ultimately saved by believing in Christ's death and resurrection through repentance of our sins. But real repentance is always followed by the fruits worthy of repentance. It's why John the baptist said we have to bring forth fruits worth of repentance. It's why Jesus says that the Ninevites will rise up in judgement against this generation because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. In Jonah 3, we learn that the Ninevites had not only cried out to God (i.e. ask for forgiveness), but they also forsaked their evil ways (which is the fruits of repentance). When God seen that they turned from their evil ways, THEN that is when God decided to not bring wrath or judgment upon the Ninevites. Nowhere does the Bible teach that you can sin and still be saved as long as you have a belief on Jesus. On the contrary, it teaches the exact opposite to that idea and gives the reader many warnings not to think that way.
Work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
He that overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.
Nothing that defiles or works iniquity will enter the holy city of New Jerusalem.
No. There is none good but God. We merely cooperate with the good work that Christ desires to do through us. It is a walk with the Lord.
"Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" (Amos 3:3).
I've tried explaining them. You make them imperatives. They are indicatives.Please. No one word answers and or one liners. You have to explain the verses including the context to prove your case.
Truth. If not you could not have a relationship with God. I am sure my next comment will be received as wrong, but our righteousness is more than our positional righteousness because of Christ's righteousness. Even our mistakes are made righteous by God in that he works all things for good. Of course, our errors are still errors, but God is able to make even our mistakes turn out right by his ability not ours.A saved person says, "I am as righteous as Jesus."
Truth or blasphemy?

So His initial righteousness is not sufficient. Just be plain.Christ makes a person righteous when they repent of their sins (ask for forgiveness) to Jesus and they believe in His death and resurrection on their behalf for salvation. Then we continue in the faith and walk in His good ways. Walking in Christ's good ways is the next step in our faith and this is a continued cleansing of all sin. 1 John 1:7 says, "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."
I'm not doing the work again.Post #'s please. I did not see any explanation on the verses I put forth towards you.

That could probably be answered best by you the next time you find yourself in a Genesis 22:1-3 situation after having following His lead to where you are now.And Abraham was saved apart from works or the law. I don't know how that can be missed.
I'm not doing the work again.
I'm not doing the work again.
So faith isn't sufficient. It is not a matter of His initial righteousness not being sufficient or not, anymore to say that a person needs to keep turning the ignition of their car while they drive. Repentance, and belief in Christ as one's Savior is the first step in our faith as a part of His righteousness, and obedience to the good work Christ desires to do through us is continued faith and imputed righteousness.
See 1 John 1:7 again.
See Hebrews 11. For true faith always leads to right action and not sin.

On 1 John 3:7 a couple of times.Did you post an explanation on certain verses I put forth that I have missed?
So faith isn't sufficient.
Thanks for kinda just saying it.
