I'm doing a study on being a bride without spot or Wrinkle. Does anyone have any opinions on this? What does this mean? What scriptures do you have to support it? What are you doing to be this? What does it mean for a man to be a bride? Or anything similar. Thank you.
without spot or wrinkle is to be without sin...not sure what you mean by these other questions...The Church is the Bride of Christ, thus every believer is part of the Bride...Lots of scriptures...have a whole study on it.

We can't perfect ourselves. What we can do is fully submit to him (that is what "professing HIM as LORD" means) whiling seeking and walking in, as best we can as guided and supported by the Spirit, the righteousness of God. That is all we can do... and that would have to then be the criteria for being without blemish.

I was just wondering....others thoughts on it. To be without sin. I have heard a few teachings on it. It says without sin. So I was wondering if that means just being saved since Christ was the ultimate sacrifice, or does it mean something we are doing? Since I know myself I don't feel like I'm without spot or wrinkle.

Ephesians 5:26-27 is the goal of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ for His bride the church. Unfortunately it doesn't appear the church will attain to anything approaching this goal until Revelation 14:4-5, the suggestion being that the true end-time church will slowly progress to ever-increasing holiness and sanctification as we get closer to His return.

It is both...Christ washes us clean but to take an analogy from scripture we need our feet washed as well. IOW's Christ washes us but we are responsible for remaining clean. We do this through efforts, scripture study, meditating, and memorizing, through yielding to the HS, by staying in prayer, etc.

Also I guess the main thing I want is I don't want to be left behind when He comes. I don't want to be one of the brides who has a spot and He leaves.
That requires that we be united with Him and continue in the faith. It is a continuing that many people today seem to have a problem with.

do we need to talk about assurance of our salvation?

It does appear that's his concern...

Regarding that, my response passage is usually 2 Peter 1:5-11, with the emphasis on verses 10-11. Yours may be different.

I like Ephesians 1:13-14 the HS is our guarantee and we should be ever growing in yielding ourselves to that Spirit the result of which will be more and more Christ like as in righteousness, the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23.

Okay so would this scripture not apply to me? Just to the endtime church?

May that is the issue. I'm sure I am saved. But, I have so many imperfections, I can't see how I can be without spot or wrinkle. I know it's by grace. But, I'm just wondering if this spot or wrinkle is something that I do, or something I just have to wait on?

it's a growing process in which you are in partnership with God. Those that are saved are seen because of Christ as without spot or blemish however, salvation is a growing process in which we continue to become more like Christ so that His righteousness, HIs spotless perfection is more and more obvious in our lives. It's okay not to be perfect so to speak as long as we are growing ever more into that perfected image through the power of the indwelling HS. It's kind of like God's power mixed with our effort yields an every closer image to the spotless, without blemish Lamb of God. We won't achieve that this side of heaven but that is where the blood of Christ comes into the picture.

Let's try this another way. In the OT if you look into the temple and sacrifices without getting caught up in the legalism what you find is a beautiful picture of Christ's sacrifice for us.

The Holy of Holies was the throne of God and because it was the throne of God there had to be blood placed on it to cover the sins of the people. See, God is so holy that He cannot be in the fellowship of sin...the consequence of sin is death. So if death covered the sin then it was as if there was nothing standing between God and man. Thus fellowship occurred. Christ's blood atonement covers over our sins just as the blood of the lambs covered over the sins of Israel in the OT temple. It is kind of like the sins cannot be seen because the blood covers them. For you and I in the NT covenant it is a blood that covers our sins when we accept it through faith after confessing and repenting of that sin.

Repenting meaning turning from. So basically if you confess all your sins, repent of them with the power of God combined with your efforts, the blood is applied and you are one of the Church that is the bride of Christ. You are without spot and blemish if Christ's blood is applied to your every sin and you allow God to grow you into Christ likeness.

Does that help?

Yes I think this is what I was looking for. So it's us realizing that Christ has made us perfect through our actions, which causes us to focus on what, he has done, and not our sins? I believe?

yes, but that does not absolve us from our sins we commit after our salvation. Salvation is an ongoing work in our lives and the wise man does not allow the lies of some to convince him otherwise. We become partners with God in His working to make us blameless.

It applies to all of us in a sense, because the ultimate command of God is "Be perfect, just as I am perfect." Some teach that sinless perfection is attainable in this life. I'm not one of them, but I do acknowledge that He sets before us the standard of His Son Jesus Christ. In Him we can and should be reaching to attain it as much as possible.

For the rest we cannot fulfill, the blood of His cross makes up for our shortcomings, and this sets up a situation which demands humility on our part, an acknowledgment that He is both Savior and Lord, and also an acknowledgement that we are all sinners under His grace and therefore have no grounds to be judging one another (Romans 14:10-13).

Hmm.. I read no one born of God will keep sinning. Said we don't sin. Paul said.. its no longer I that sin but the sin that is in me.

That being said.. we read "with out spot or wrinkle" Yet we know ..we cant escape this "sin". What was made NEW? All things become NEW. Your spirit is made new. Your spirit can not sin.. the flesh has not been changed..yet. So.. for ME when I read "no sin" and then the word names the sins will ever enter heaven. This should be enough to dig more. For we are not righteous in our selfs but THROUGH Christ. God sees us HOW? Already pure holy. Think.. we can BOLDLY go before GOD? Our spirit can not sin. Does not have sin in it. ..anyway. One can really get lost here. Flesh is still me.. yet my spirit is the real me. I still repent.. I freely listen and I freely sinned. Blah blah blah.

MY view
