The Word of God is certainly worth reading. It speaks to us! Today's reading from 'Our Daily Bread',a devotional spoke to me. 'The One Who Understands'. (John 1:14) 'The Word became flesh and dwelt among us'. 'Jesus is the One who can say," I've been through that. I understand". 'God understands the struggles we face'.

Thank you so much...I have found it on line and subscribed to have it sent to my inbox,

Dear Lord, thank You for caring enough to humble Yourself and come to earth as a human being.

Today's devotional in 'Every Day with Jesus' by Selwyn Hughes and revised by Mick Brooks is worth reading! 'Being in Control'-(Romans10:9) 'If you confess with your mouth,"Jesus is LORD" and believe in your heart... you will be saved'. Here are some extracts:- 'If entering into God's kingdom is so simple, why is it that so many stumble over the fact?..? 'Becoming childlike is one of the most difficult things for us to do.. We would much prefer to do something to save ourselves, than to adopt a trusting childlike attitude.. The one thing above all others that our human nature detests is the feeling of not being in control. But this feeling of helplessness (the opposite of being in control) is precisely the condition required for entering into the kingdom.. For some it is easier to struggle than to trust. Easier but not productive..'

Today's devotional in 'Life Every Day',by Jeff Lucas (Crusade for World Revival) is worth reading! 'Our Father the Corporate' (Matthew 6:9) 'This, then,is how you should pray,'Our Father..' (Extract) 'As we consider the entire prayer, let's notice that personal pronouns are all plural. We are called to say our Father, rather than my Father. It's our daily bread that we ask for; our sins for which we seek forgiveness...' 'This emphasis on our, rather than mine shows us the value of sharing prayer with others'

@ quietbloke ... that was good brother, I never looked at the "forgive US this day OUR sins" from that perspective.
I look at that as me praying WITH someone in order for them to feel they're not alone in their weakness or in some type of corporate sense.
I hesitate to think that I can ask God to forgive the sins of another as their sins are their own, for which they are responsible.
Personal confession of sin is necessary for a number of reasons.

Amen! This is a glorious "key" right here, that Jesus Himself has so clearly spoken of, and that is:

Child-like-ness.

This is the very "key" to understanding God's heart.

As Jesus Himself said, unless we become as a little child, we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.

precious.

This is PROFOUND. Yes, it is the "us", "we" "our" that is indicative of a "unity" and "coming together" and lifting up our brothers and sisters in speaking for all of us when we seek our Father's face in prayer.

This is such a subtle truth but a most profound one. It indicates a "love" for one's brothers and sisters when we speak to our Father in "plural" and not "singular", which must surely bless our Father's very heart.

Precious.

Reminds me of this:

"By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." ~John 13:35

Hi T-seven, what comes to mind for me, is if we are praying on behalf of a group of believers, it's what we would pray, and it's because we are all in unity and in sync with what we all have in our hearts, and we are all asking for God to forgive in unison, so to speak.

Thank you for your thoughtful response, and welcome to CF. :)

Today's study devotional in 'Cover to Cover Every Day' (CWR) by Ian Coffey is worth reading! 'Key Players'- (Zechariah 3:1-4;14) 'God had chosen two men as keyplayers in His plan to rebuild and restore the nation. Joshua the high priest and Zerabbabel the governor and they both figure in Zechariah's next two visions' 'The scene of the first vision (Zechariah 3:1-10) is the court of heaven with Joshua standing there before the angel of the Lord and being accused by Satan. The Lord rebukes Satan, strips Joshua of his filthy clothes and dresses him with fresh, rich garments. The symbolism is clear,Joshua needs to be clean to serve. Satan is silenced and told that Joshua, like a stick snatched from the fire is chosen by the Lord. There follows a promise that sometime in the future the Lord will remove sin in a day, through His servant,'the Branch',which may be a foretelling of the complete work of Jesus through the cross'... 'The second vision comes as Zechariah is awakened from a deep sleep (Zechariah 4:1-14) He sees a seven branched golden lampstand fed by a higher vessel with an endless supply of oil. The picture is of an enduring supply of God's Spirit for Zerubbabel in his heavy responsibilities. And to underline the meaning, the Lord gives a direct word,"Not by might, nor by power but by My Spirit",says the Lord Almighty' (Zechariah 4:6) This verse is often quoted, but it is helpful to read it in its' original context. Zerubbabel would not achieve success by the usual means of military muscle or political manipulations, but by the power of the Lord at work in his everyday decisions...' 'To leave his listeners in no doubt Zechariah underlines that the two olive trees symbolize the dual leadership of Joshua and Zerubbabel, who were called to serve God's purposes in their generation. They were key players in God's plan. Purity and anointing remain indispensable for any who want to be used by God....' (extract)

Today's devotional from Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is worth reading! 'Is it well with your soul?' (Mark 8:36-37) 'And how does a man benefit if he gains the whole world and loses his soul in the process. For is anything worth more than his soul?' 'In the world in which we live,we give more attention to satisfying the appetites of the body and practically none to the soul. Consequently we are one-sided. We become fat physically and materially, while spiritually we are lean, weak and anemic. The soul actually demands as much attention as the body. It demands fellowship and communion with God. It demands worship, quietness and meditation. Unless the soul is fed and exercised daily,it becomes weak and shriveled. It remains discontented,confused,restless.....'(Extract) '
