How I see Yeshua in Yom Kippur. ...
Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement. Yeshua is our High Priest in Heaven. [
Hebrews 7:26] He is innocent, undefiled by sin, and does not need to make atonement for his own sins like the temple High Priests had to do. There will come a day when Yeshua will perform the last act in the great steps of which Yom Kippur represents. Yom means “day” and Kippur means a “covering” or “atonement.” A related Hebrew word, "kapper" [kapparah], means "to cover", as in the covering of sin G-d provides for His people when they come before Him with the appropriate sacrifice.
Romans 3:25 God put Yeshua forward as the [kapparah] for sin through his faithfulness in respect to his bloody sacrificial death.
Lev 17:11 For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the alter to make atonement for yourselves; for it is the blood that makes atonement because of the life.
Hebrews 9:22 Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.
I Cor 15:3 . . . the Messiah died for our sins . . .
Yeshua gave His life to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.
Lev 23:26 The LORD said to Moses, 27 "The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and
deny yourselves, and present an offering made to the LORD by fire.
28 Do no work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the LORD your God. 29 Anyone who does not deny himself on that day must be cut off from his people. 30 I will destroy from among his people anyone who does any work on that day. 31 You shall
do no work at all. This is to be
a lasting ordinance for the generations to come,
wherever you live. 32 It is a Sabbath of rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your Sabbath."
It is said to be the “Sabbath of Sabbaths.” We are not to mix our daily routine with this holy day. The punishment for not obeying this commandment is death!
But let's back up a moment, to Rosh Hashanah which begins the Ten Days of Awe, the ten day countdown to Yom Kippur. It is when it is believed that the Books of Life are opened, and we are to spend the next ten days in repentance, preparing for the Great Yom Kippur, where the Books of our Lives will, at the end of His High Priest Yom Kippur service, will be closed. Approaching Yom Kippur we concentrate on how to reconcile the gulf of sin that separates us from Him.
He set up this system, its time frame, its purpose, and its work in the great plan on separating us from sin for all eternity. "G'mar chatima tovah!" is a common greeting during this time of year and it means "May you be
sealed in the Book of Life for a good year!". I think there is a bigger picture here than just another year ahead. Yom Kippur is a story of redemption at the most critical moment, when good and evil are hard to distinguish, as illustrated by the identical goats before the congregation. One is dedicated to the Lord, and the other is the "scapegoat" or also known as Azazel [a name for one of the leading rebellious angels].
Leviticus 16:21 He is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites--
all their sins--and put them on the goat's head. He shall send the goat away into the desert in the care of a man appointed for the task. 22 The goat will carry on itself all their sins to a solitary place; and the man shall release it in the desert.
Which I believe is the time when all the sins sacrificed for, the blood poured out in the sanctuary, is atoned for, and in great ceremony during Yom Kippur placed on the "scapegoat's head". Now picture how Revelation reveals the service performed by Yeshua is finished.
Revelation 11:2 But the court which is without the
temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
Daily sacrificing for sin was performed in the outer court. Most gentiles get the idea that the sacrifice of the Lamb of God for their sins, whom they confess to through the ministry of Yeshua, the High Priest in Heaven is available for them. The Temple itself has more services inside that are where you find the altar of incense [prayers], table of shewbread [Word of God], Menorah [Holy Spirit].
Revelation 11:19 And the
temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his
temple the
ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail....
Revelation 15:5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the
temple of the
tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
The temple also has the Most Holy Place where God sits and resides over His Kingdom. His mercy seat is over the Ark of the Testament where the TEN are kept. For they have the "mark" of His authority within it. It is found in the Law regarding the Sabbath. You find three parts to His authority [Creator], territory [Heavens and Earth], and Title [God]
Revelation 14:15 And another angel came out of the
temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe....
17 And another angel came out of the
temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
The feasts are harvest feasts, and the first great call is the Feast of Trumpets [think 7 Trumpets] After the Great Yom Kippur of Heaven is over, the people are sealed, the sacrifice for sin is over. Yeshua has left the Temple service as High Priest and has donned His Kingly robes to come gather His people. In the mean time, the earth receives the plagues without mercy. God's people will be unharmed, as they are marked as God's people and are awaiting for their King to come.
Revelation 15:6 And the seven angels came out of the
temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.
Revelation 15:8 And the
temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and
no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.
Revelation 16:1 And I heard a great voice out of the
temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
Revelation 16:17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the
temple of heaven, from the throne, saying,
It is done.
