There has been much conjecture and error surrounding this person. Some believe that he will come from the RRE, the Revived Roman Empire. However God has judged Rome and God will not be `reviving` it again.

Also the description of the Federation that the anti-Christ leads is quite ruthless -

`After this I saw in the night visions and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet….` (Dan. 7: 7)

Does that describe the EU (European Union) or the force of Islam?

Here are the Biblical details of the anti-Christ –

His nationality – Assyrian.

`…the Lord of hosts will come down to fight for Mount Zion and for its hill. Like birds flying about, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; passing over, He will preserve it……Then the Assyrian shall fall be a sword not of man..` (Isa. 31: 4 & 5, 8 )

`Thus He shall deliver us from the Assyrian when He comes into our land.` (Micah 5: 6)

The region he comes from – the Ancient Assyrian Empire.

`…and the king of the North…..shall also enter the Glorious Land,…(Dan. 11: 35 – 43)

Leader of Ancient Assyrian region - Iraq, Syria & Jordan.

` I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words.` (Dan. 7: 8)

Leader of Islamic Federation – 10 kings of Islam.

` And the ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast.` (Rev. 17: 12)

He rules the world –

` And he was given authority over every tribe, tongue and nations.` (Rev. 13: 7)
(Also - Rev. 16: 13 & 14, 19: 19)

Nowhere in Scripture do we find a singularized capital A Antichrist. In the passages in 1 John 2, 1 John 4, and 2 John 1 in which the word appears, it is decapitalized, in recognition that it does not refer to a singularized individual. This is reinforced in 1 John 2:18, which speaks of many antichrists. The remaining passages in 1 John and 2 John describe the characteristics whereby an antichrist can be recognized.

Nevertheless, professing dispensationalists virtually universally subscribe to the doctrine of a singular Antichrist. What remains conspicuously untold is the history of the doctrine's origin and proliferation.

Into the second half of the 16th century, the Protestant Reformation was experiencing notable success in casting off the spiritual chains characterizing the papal Roman, i.e Roman Catholic (RC), empire’s Dark Ages. Two of the foundational proclamations upon which said success rested were: (1) The just shall live by faith; and (2) The papacy is an antichrist. For these, particularly the latter, multitudes of Reformation leaders and followers ultimately paid with their lives. Evidence for the latter was recognized from prophecies in Daniel and Revelation; from the RC church’s own arrogated title for the pope, VICARIVS FILII DEII (Latin for Vicar of the Son of God); and for the pope’s own direct claims (Pope Pius XI, “I am God on the earth.”).

Notable also is the sum of the Latin numerals in VICARIVS FILII DEII of 666, which may or may not be considered to be of significance.

The RC church’s own foundations were crumbling under the Reformation onslaught, and the necessity for a counter strategy was being exigently recognized. Francisco Ribera (1537-1591), a priest within the RC order of the Jesuits, was commissioned with the task. He responded by producing a 500 page commentary which speculated upon a single future Antichrist who would abolish Christianity, claim to be God, and conquer the world. This was the beginning of the counter-Reformation doctrines of futurism which became intrinsic to contemporary dispensationalism.

Ribera’s futurism was further disseminated within RC ranks by Italian cardinal Robert Bellarmine (1542-1621), and became official RC dogma.

For a further two centuries, however, only the RC church subscribed to the futurist position. Then in 1826-1830, Samuel Maitland (1792-1866), librarian to the Archbishop of Canterbury, became the first Protestant to adopt it. Disbelieving that the papacy was in the prophecies, he was contemptuous of much of the Reformation.

James Todd (1805-1869), professor of Hebrew at Trinity College in Dublin, became a subsequent ecclesiologically prominent adherent. Others began to follow.

Concurrent with these developments were the appearance and rise of Darbyism and the doctrines of modern dispensationalism originated by its founder John Nelson Darby. Futurism was recognized as being a fully compatible and welcome addition, and was quickly integrated. The result was an interpretive system overwhelmingly oriented to futurized speculation and conjecture, with minimal to no regard for the historic prophetic wisdom and sacrifices of the Reformers of old.

This system ultimately spread globally, and prevails in evangelicalism today.

Historical Reformation prophetic fulfillment is anathema to dispensational futurized speculation. Until historical Reformation truth is recognized and reclaimed, the delusion and deception of a futurized singularized Antichrist will continue to be perpetuated.

Hi jgr,

The capital `A` (& other capitals of words) in the heading is common in the name of a thread.

Scripture clearly shows that there will be a leader of the final Gentile Global Government and he will be against God, thus the term -anti-Christ. It is a description of this person which is clearly delineated in scripture.

`In the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors have reached their fullness, a king shall arise, having fierce features, who understands sinister schemes. His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; he shall destroy fearfully, and shall prosper and thrive; he shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.

Though his cunning he shall cause deceit to prosper under his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart. He shall destroy many in their prosperity, he shall even rise against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without human hand.`(Dan. 8: 23 - 25)

Hi Marilyn; good to talk with you again.

Yes. I was referring to Scripture, in which we do not find a singular capital A Antichrist, consistent with the descriptions in John's epistles, which both explicitly and implicitly refer to multiple antichrists. The Reformers identified the papacy as the predominant antichrist of that era. Their understanding derived from the descriptions of the little horn in Daniel 7.

The descriptions in Daniel 8:23-25 are ascribed by various commentators to Antiochus Epiphanes.

Hi jgr,

As I said the word `anti-Christ,` is a description of that person`s behaviour - against Christ, the Prince of princes. And the timing is as God`s word tells us - the appointed time -

`And he said to me, "Look, I am making known to you what shall happen in the latter time of the indignation; for at the appointed time the end shall be.` (Dan. 8: 19)

The idea of a Mr. Antichrist world ruler dude is not from the bible, but from tradition. The bible's teaching on antichrist is very simple, and St. John lists the only passages anywhere in scripture on the matter. Everything the bible has to say about "antichrist" can be found as follows:

2 Jn 1:7
1 Jn 2:18-19
1 Jn 4:1-3
1 Jn 2:22-23

Thats it.

When we closely analyze St. John's comprehensive teaching on the matter we arrive at the following:

(1) Antichrist is one heresy of many adherents (2 Jn 1:7; 1 Jn 2:18)

(2) Antichrists were once members of the true apostolic Church, but left to embrace a very particular heresy (1 Jn 2:19; 1Jn 4:1)

(3) The heresy embraced by antichrists denies that the incarnation of Christ was one in real human form or flesh (2 Jn 1:7; 1Jn 4:2-3)

(4) The antichrist heretics proclaim one can have relations with Jehovah without needing Christ (1 Jn 2:22-23 - cf. Jn 15:23-24)

(5) The prophesied antichrists manifested in St. John's latter ministry years, proving to him that the final hour of the last days had come upon Him and his flocks (1 Jn 2:18-19).

There we have it. That's everything the bible teaches on antichrist. It is a solid, unified, and comprehensive teaching on the subject. The bible says nothing else on the matter.

People err by adding in The Beast, Daniel's Imperial Kings, or the Man of Sin of 2 Thess 2, but these various men have not one thing at all to do with "antichrist," which was a 1st century Church heresy of the proto-gnostic beliefs concerning the incarnation.

And of course, Revelation for sure says not a thing about "antichrist."

An Assyrian Jew.
The Antichrist will be Jewish- it's not really subject to debate.

Hi HighCherub,

Yes we don`t debate but accept what God`s word says - the final Global Gentile Leader, the lawless one is an Assyrian.

Hi again jgr,

Multiple antichrists shows there will be a final one. And God`s word tells us that the final Gentile Global leader, the lawless one is an Assyrian from the area of great conflict in the Middle east - Iraq & Syria.

Also Antiochus Epiphanes has come and gone and the Gentiles are still ruling the world. There will be a final World Ruler & government as God`s word tells us.

The term refers to the final ruler who is the lawless one, who stands up against the Lord - he is against Christ, anti Christ.

'the antichrist' is just as bad as Antichrist

Hi victorinus,

It seems you fellas are stuck on the heading. have you ever thought -

The Bible never says, "You shall not call the final Gentile Global leader by the description `anti-Christ."

The term refers to the final ruler who is the lawless one, who stands up against the Lord - he is against Christ, anti Christ.

There is more to the OP than the heading!

the antichrist are evil spirits but humans tend to fall under a powerful leader due to their own wickedness (or even weakness) thus often granting such kinds of leaders. such was stalin, mao, hitler, ect.

we are the body of Christ and so there could be a body of antichrist too. in fact there is.

Luke 9:50 (YLT)
and Jesus said unto him, `Forbid not, for he who is not against us, is for us.'

Hi parousia,

That is an argument from silence.
Does the Bible ever say we shouldn't call such a person by the term "Archangel Michael"? or "Joseph" or "Simon Peter"?

By the way... where (Chapter and verse) can I find the term "Final Gentile Global leader"?

The term refers to the final ruler who is the lawless one, who stands up against the Lord - he is against Christ, anti Christ.

Marilyn.

The difference is Marilyn, we have EXPLICIT scriptural teaching on EXACTLY what antichrist IS. When we ADD unbiblical definitions to the term that scripture NOWHERE TEACHES, we overstep the scriptural mandate and are adding to scripture that which is not found within it's pages.

You may be comfortable building doctrine upon such unbiblical tradition, I am not.

Hi parousia,

Yes it is an argument from silence, just as you say there is no ruler called `antichrist.` And asking me for the term `the Final Gentile Global Leader` is also the same.

As I said before you have not addressed the OP biblical details, but have got stuck on the heading.
