Short Introduction:

I believe a Biblical Day is from sunset to sunset. Leviticus 23:32 says to keep God’s Sabbath ‘from evening to evening.' In Genesis 1, we see that the pattern God gave us for a day was from evening (night) until daylight. Also, I believe the Scriptures teach that there are 12 hours of daylight hours in a day (as Jesus says) and there are 4 watches for the night. Now, the hour of a day is not like our hours of a day consisting always of 60 minutes. The minutes of an hour could be less or more based on the amount of daylight time available. But the minutes of that day would be divided by segments of 12. These segments were 12 segments (i.e. 12 hours); See the following link:

Explaining the Jewish Hour.

I also now believe that Passover was an holy convocation (A Sabbath). This also revealed to me that the 14th Passover (also known as the 1st Day of Unleavened Bread) was celebrated by Jesus with a New Testament celebration or ordinance. I remember fighting against this idea very strongly in the past before because I wanted the sacrifices to take place at the exact time Jesus was sacrificed. Yes, it is true, the Pharisees sacrificed lambs on what they call "the Preparation Day." But the Pharisees were celebrating the Passover a day late and they had the wrong day. One of the best articles I ever read that revealed this truth to me was here:

The Passover is a Feast and a Holy Convocation.
(Note: Please take note that the author is more Messianic or Jewish, and they believe that the Old Testament Passover is still in effect; When I do not believe that to be the case).

Important Note: The Nisan the 14th Passover is no longer binding for believers under the New Covenant. The Lord’s supper is suggested that it was celebrated weekly in the Scriptures on a Sunday or the 1st day of the week. Here is a great article on this (if you are interested).

Should We Celebrate the Lord’s Supper Every Sunday in Church?

Important Note 2: When reading this timeline, please remember that the Jewish day or the Biblical calendar day begins at night time (when the sun has already set) and it ends the next following time of when the sun sets again. In other words, our calendar day is from Midnight to Midnight, whereas their calendar day is from sunset (night time) to sunset (night time). Night time begins a new day. I have mixed the Jewish day with our secular day. For example: The Jewish's first day of the week, would be the equivalent of our Sunday.

The Passion Timeline:

Jewish 5th Day of the Week, Nisan the 9th, Night.
(Our Thursday Night).

~ Foreshadow of the Resurrection:

Jesus spends the night in Bethany with Lazarus and others. This is six days prior to the time of when Jesus will be crucified. (Day 1) 9th (Day 2) 10th (Day 3) 11th (Day 4) 12th (Day 5) 13th (Day 6) 14th. Jesus’s visit to Lazarus again on the 9th of Nisan can be viewed as symbolic of what was to come (Which is Christ’s resurrection). For Jesus had raised Lazarus from the dead on a previous visit to him. The meaning behind the number 9 is: “the fruits of the Spirit.” Romans 8:11 says, “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”; And Romans 8:22-23 says, “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”

Jewish 7th Day of the Week, Nisan the 10th, Day.
(Our Saturday, Day).

~ Christ’s Triumphal Entry:
~ Saturday Weekly Sabbath
(No Servile Work was to be done):

This was when the Passover sacrifice was inspected (i.e. when Christ rode in on a donkey and he went to the Temple). Exodus 12:3 says that this is the day that the Passover was to be inspected. The people of Jerusalem had cheered and had thrown down palm branches. The 10th is significant because it is related to the number 10 in the Bible, meaning the Law. Scripture says, “For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh.” (Romans 8:3) (NIV).

Jewish 3rd Day of the Week, Nisan the 13th, Day.
(Our Tuesday, Day).

~ Preparations are made for the Passover.

Jesus's disciples prepare for the Passover at the ending daylight hours of the 13th.

Jewish 4th Day of the Week, Nisan the 14th, Night.
(Our Tuesday Night).

~ The Passover - 1st Day of Unleavened Bread:
~ An Holy Convocation
(Sabbath)
(No Servile Work was to be done):

~ Jesus Celebrates New Testament Last Supper Ordinance on the Passover:
~ Jesus Takes on Our Sins in the Garden of Gethsemane:
~ Hour Comes When Jesus is Betrayed into the Hands of Sinners:

At the beginning of Nisan the 14th at evening, the Passover also known as the 1st Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread begins. Jesus celebrates a New Testament Passover Supper on the 14th Passover, also known as the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The next day, the Pharisees kept their Passover in the following evening at the wrong time (Preparing the sacrifices in the afternoon hours leading up to what they believed was the Passover feast) (See article link above to learn more). Jesus held this special New Covenant Celebration (the last supper) at the time of traditional Passover. Scripture says, "And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins" Unleavened bread is a part of the Passover feast. It was important to purge out all leaven for the Passover. For leaven was a symbol of sin and it needed to be put out of one’s home for the the Passover feast. This Passover is Christ, for Jesus is our Passover Lamb. Scripture says, “Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us” (1 Corinthians 5:7).

Also, Jesus takes on the sins of the entire world in the Garden of Gethsemane. The Father gives Christ the cup that has all our sins within in it and he sweats great drops of blood. Scripture says he bore our sins within His body.

After, Jesus takes upon our sins within His body, the hour then shortly comes when Jesus is betrayed into the hands of sinners by Judas (Matthew 26:45). He is then arrested and is judged by two Jewish high priests.

Jewish 4th Day of the Week, Nisan the 14th, Day.
(Our Wednesday, Day).

~ Passover & the 1st Day of Unleavened Bread Continues:
~ Pharisee’s Day of Preparation:
~ Jesus is Wounded for our Transgressions and Crushed for our Iniquities:
~ Jesus is Crucified and He Dies For our Sins:
~ Jesus in the Heart of the Earth
(Paradise), for 3 hours of daylight approximately.

Jesus is judged by Pilate (a Roman) early in the morning. He is then whipped and mocked. After six hours have past from the starting point of the previous night of the 1st hour of when Christ is betrayed into the hands of sinners (1st hour: Matthew 26:45) (Sixth hour: John 19:14): Pilate sets Jesus before a Jewish audience and says to them, “Behold your king!” Then at 9:00AM (third hour): Jesus is crucified. Darkness within the sky comes upon the land at 12:00PM (sixth hour). Then at 3:00PM (ninth hour) Jesus dies and He becomes our Passover Lamb, Christ is sacrificed for us (man). Christ who knew no sin was made to be sin for us (man). His innocent blood pays the penalty for man’s bondage or slavery to sin so as to offer man the free gift. Christ is our Passover Lamb that takes place on the Passover Day, which is the 14th. The number 14 is related to the number 4 within the Bible. The number in the Bible means “Creation” (Man). Abraham’s attempt to sacrifice Isaac (A type of the cross) is then followed by the promise of descendants as being like the stars of the heavens. The fourth day of the week (Wednesday) is when Christ was crucified. The fourth day is when God created stars in the sky within the creation week in Genesis 1 (like Abraham’s descendants being like the stars of the heavens). The 3 points of the cross are the three persons of the Trinity with the end in the ground stuck within the ground (creation). Man was created out of the earth. (1) Father (2) Son (3) Holy Ghost (4) Man (creation). John 3:16, which is the famous gospel verse of the Bible can be broken down to see God desiring to connect with man. The number 3 in John 3:16 is like: (1) Father (2) Son (3 Holy Ghost; And the number 16 in John 3:16 can be broken down into the number 4. That is 4 X 4 = 16. So John 3:16 is God connecting with man numerically. John 3:16 sums up what Christ had done for us on the Passover. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). One of last words said by Jesus before He died, was, “it was finished.” Meaning: He has paid the price for sin for every man so that Jesus can offer man the free gift of salvation if they believe on Him. Now, men can be forgiven by coming to Him directly. How fitting are the words of John the Baptist here, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the entire world.”

Jewish 5th Day of the Week, Nisan the 15th, Night.
(Our Wednesday Night).

~ Jesus in the Heart of the Earth, Night #1:

At sundown, is a feast of unleavened bread (This would be the second day of the feast of unleavened bread within the 7 Day Passover and not the first day as many falsely assume) (See article link above to learn more). At sundown, the 15th Begins the Passover meal and the eating of unleavened bread) by the Pharisees. This was Pharisee's Feast Day of the Passover / Unleavened Bread. This was a Holy Day for them and no servile work was to be done this day according to their false traditions (Which effected business markets, etc.) Scripture says, “Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” (1 Corinthians 5:8).

Jewish 5th Day of the Week, Nisan the 15th, Day.
(Our Thursday, Day).

~ Jesus is in the Heart of the Earth, Day #1.
~ 2nd Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread
~ High Sabbath according to the Pharisee's traditions:

Passover / Feast of Unleavened Bread - High Holy Sabbath Day according to the Jews. No servile work could be done on this day according to their traditions. Mary could not buy spices to anoint Jesus on this day because it was a High Holy day or High Sabbath according to the Pharisee’s misguided traditions. Shops and markets would have been closed, so she could not go out and buy any spices to annoint Jesus.

Jewish 6th Day of the Week, Nisan the 16th, Night.
(Our Thursday night).

~ Jesus in the Heart of the Earth, Night #2.

I have yet to find any other events to occur on this particular night.

Jewish 6th Day of the Week, Nisan the 16th, Day.
(Our Friday, Day).

~ Jesus in the Heart of the Earth, Day #2.
~ Mary goes out to buy spices (after the Pharisee's Sabbath):

Mary goes out and buys spices and then prepares them all day. Mark 16:1 tells us she did this after the Sabbath. This was not after the Saturday Sabbath but it was after the high holy day Sabbath (i.e. the 15th) according to the Pharisees and their traditions. Mary couldn't have bought spices early morning on Sunday (After the Saturday Sabbath) because there would have been no time for her to go to the shops to buy spices and the prepare them and still arrive at the tomb when it was yet still dark out (John 20:1).

Jewish 7th Day of the Week, Nisan the 17th, Night.
(Our Friday night).

~ Jesus is in the Heart of the Earth, Night #3.

So far I have not recorded any other events as occuring during this time.

Jewish 7th Day of the Week, Nisan the 17th, Day.
(Our Saturday, Day).

~ Jesus is in the Heart of the Earth, Day #3, (Minus 3 daylight hours approximately):
~ Jesus is rises from the grave (out of the Heart of the Earth) at exactly 3:00PM.
~ Weekly Saturday Sabbath
(No servile work was to be done).

Jesus rises within the closed tomb on the Saturday Sabbath at 3:00PM (i.e. He is was in the Heart of the Earth for exactly 72 hours from the point of His death). For Jesus said He would be in the heart of the Earth for three days and three nights. The heart of the Earth is not the grave because he was not buried in the ground. Again, the heart of the Earth is Abraham's bosom in sheol. For he told the thief on the cross that he would be with Him in that very day in Paradise. Not that evening or the next day or two days later. He told the thief that he would be with him in Paradise that very day. So Jesus' death would then start the clock of Christ being in the heart of the Earth. Jesus' resurrection takes place on a Saturday Sabbath because He is our eternal rest. This is on the 17th day which is significant throughout all of Scripture. In fact, it was the time that Noah's ark had rested on Mount Ararat before the flood waters had completely abated later on. For it was showing that God's judgment had ended and that a new life was about to begin for Noah. Now, there is a connection between Christ’s resurrection and the Sabbath (which is a time of resting). Scripture says we will be resurrected as a result of Jesus, “Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.” (2 Corinthians 4:14). This resurrection for us by Jesus will involve a place of rest for us in the future.

Rev 21:1 “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth…”

Rev 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

But we can have a “rest” now in Jesus. We can also apply the resurrection now in our lives by walking now in the likeness of His resurrection.
For Romans 6:5 says, “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.”; And Hebrews 4:8-11 says,

Heb 4:8 “For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28).

Jewish 1st Day of the Week, Nisan the 18th, Night Time, Shortly Before Sunrise.
(Our Sunday, Early Morning).

~ Mary and others discover empty tomb.

Mary and others discover the angel and the empty tomb. The angel tells Mary that Jesus is risen. This takes place on a Sunday, the first day of the week which symbolizes a new start or new beginning.

Jewish 1st Day of the Week, Nisan the 18th, Day.
(Our Sunday, Day).

~ Jesus tells Mary not to touch Him,
~ Jesus ascends to the Father
(to later return to be with His disciples):
~ 1st Day of the Week
(New Beginnings):

Mary encounters Jesus and He tells her not to touch Him (So as to remain pure); For Jesus still needed to complete His plan of redemption for mankind. Jesus then ascends to the Father and enters the Holy Temple up in Heaven by His blood and He obtains eternal redemption for us. This was so that Jesus could be our Heavenly high priest and mediator between God the Father and us (i.e. mankind). “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” (Hebrews 9:12).

The number 8 (within the number 18) means: “New beginnings.” We read just a few verses down from Hebrews 9:12 the following words.

“And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament,...” (Hebrews 9:15, Emphasis mine). For Christ said in Revelation, “Behold, I make all things new.” (Revelation 21:5).

Yes i recognise it as the 4th day of the jewish week.. Because the Jewish 4th day stated at tuesday sunset.. The passover is the 14th day of Nisan and the first day of unleavened bread is on the 15th of Nisan.. Here the OT reveals this..

Leviticus 23: KJV
4 "¶ These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. {5} In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’S passover. {6} And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread."

While we agree on some things on the timeline, I do not agree with you on the 15th being the 1st day of unleavened bread. I used to think the 15th was the 1st day of unleavened bread, but I recently have come to new Scriptural evidence that has changed my mind on this.

First, nowhere does Leviticus 23:4-6 actually use the words "first" or the "first day" of unleavened bread. It merely says it is the (or "a") feast of unleavened bread.

Second, Matthew 26:17 calls the first day of unleavened bread as the Passover. Luke 22:1 says,
"Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover." Unleavened bread was to be eaten on the Passover Day, which began at the evening of the 14th (Gentile Tuesday night, Jewish 4th Day of the Week).

"Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses:" (Exodus 12:15).

The first day is the Passover and it is a holy convocation (like a Sabbath).

"In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even." (Exodus 12:18).

Lev 23:5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover.
Lev 23:6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

Mar 14:12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?
Mar 14:13 And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
Mar 14:14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
Mar 14:15 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
Mar 14:16 And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
Mar 14:17 And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.
Mar 14:18 And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.

Passover began at sundown(even) on the 14th, which is the end of that day on the Jewish calendar.

The early Church believed that Christ spent part of the night of the 15th in a pit at the house of Caiphas. (in the heart of the earth)

Christ was bound when taken to the house, and they had to bind Him again that morning.
Therefore, He had to spend at least part of that night not bound.
This means He was placed where He could not escape, or He had to be guarded during the night.

I agree with what you said here, brother.

As for this part of what you said, that is a little far out there for me. So I am afraid in good fun, I have to say....

Anyways, whether we agree or disagree....

Yeah, sorry, friend.
Not interested. Jesus was in the heart of the Earth (meaning "Sheol"). This is pretty basic and clear for me. What you are suggesting sounds way out there in left field somewhere. No offense of course.

May God bless you today.

Are you saying that Jesus was in hell, or in the ground?

The home of Caiaphas is in Jerusalem, instead of left field.

.

I am saying Jesus went to Paradise primarily, and he preached (gave a message) temporarily to the spirits in prison (i.e. to those wicked individuals who perished in the global food). I do not believe Jesus was actually in the torments of hell fire. That is a false view. He merely spoke to some of those who were there for a temporary time. I believe most of his time was in Paradise. He was in the heart of the Earth (Sheol) the realm of the dead that includes both Paradise (Abraham's Bosom) and he spoke to those in torments while not being hurt by any kind of flame or anything.

The view that Jesus was in hell came from a translational goof in the KJV, calling hades "hell". We see from Jesus' parable of the rich man & the beggar lazarus that hades is divided into "paradise" & "torments". Remember, Jesus told the repentant thief on the cross, "Today, you shall be with Me in PARADISE".

That aside, I don't recognize "Good Friday" as any special day at all, as Jesus died on Wednesday, not Friday. The confusion comes about because, by that time, Judaism was calling every special fest day a "High Sabbath", including them two Holy Convocations of Passover Week. This led many to believe that Jesus died on Friday & the Jews wanted the bodies off the crosses before the weekly Saturday Sabbath.

At the beginning of Nisan the 14th at evening, the Passover also known as the 1st Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread begins. Jesus celebrates a New Testament Passover Supper on the 14th Passover, also known as the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Mar 14:12 Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they killed the Passover lamb, His disciples said to Him, "Where do You want us to go and prepare, that You may eat the Passover?"
Mar 14:13 And He sent out two of His disciples and said to them, "Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him.
Mar 14:14 Wherever he goes in, say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?" '
Mar 14:15 Then he will show you a large upper room, furnished and prepared; there make ready for us."
Mar 14:16 So His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found it just as He had said to them; and they prepared the Passover.
Mar 14:17 In the evening He came with the twelve.

Did the 15th start at evening, in the verse above?

Mar 14:18 Now as they sat and ate, Jesus said, "Assuredly, I say to you, one of you who eats with Me will betray Me."

This is the best article I have ever read in understanding when the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread took place during the Passion Week.

The Passover is a Feast and a Holy Convocation.

While I do not share their view that we have to keep the Passover, I do think they clear up the confusion on this topic that so many have.

I don't think it is a translation error. I think the word "hell" in Acts of the Apostles 2:27 is referring to the "realm of the dead" (i.e. the Greek word hades) (So this would include paradise or Abraham's bosom) or "hell" can refer to "torments." Only today does the word "hell" instantly conjure up "the place of torment" (that the rich man went to). Remember, the only thing that separated Abraham's bosom and the place of torments was a great gulf. It was not like an entirely different place. They are separate compartments in hell or the realm of the dead. Besides, Jesus did visit the spirits in prison within the place of torment so as to give them a message (See 1 Peter 3:19-20).

Yes, it's a mistranslation. "Hell" is the lake of fire, which is permanent, while hades/sheol are temporary. Remember, hades, once emptied, is to be cast into the LOF.

You believe this a translation error based on what? Your own opinion?
Even words in our modern English can look and sound the same, but they can have entirely different meanings.

For example: I can say that,

"The dog's bark could be heard all the way down the street, He scratched his paws against the bark of tree at the squirrel up in the tree (hoping to get the little guy)."

As you can see there are two words spelled as "bark" but yet they have two different meanings. These are called homonyms and they do exist in the Bible (as I am sure you aware of). If our language changed whereby one of these words had changed, and dictionaries were no longer available, you could conclude that this was a mistranslation if you lived hundreds of years from now. But hey, if you want to correct God's Holy Word, be my guest. I fear God too much to do that.
