Do Your Best, and Jesus Makes Up For the Rest

Does the above sentence accurately describe how a person is made right with God, i.e., justified. Does our standing before God work in this way?

So, do you believe - do your worst, and Jesus will make up for the rest?

You should answer the question with an answer, not another question.

I've done my worst. I've sinned in ways unmentionable, yet God, in His mercy, has sought me and saved me. He took a wretch like me and made him a son.

My worst is covered in Christ's best. Praise be to Him!

Not at all. That's true in Mormonism, though.

The Christian faith is not about doing "our best" at all. It's about what Christ has done. We put our faith in Him alone, precisely because "our best" is at best "filthy rags" and will not save us.

Also Christ does not "make up the rest", He did it all. He is the perfect lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, who has by Himself purged our sins and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father, our Great High Priest and Mediator.

Once we have been saved, by grace, through faith, we have passed from death to life, received the Holy Spirit, and can then begin to walk in the good works He has prepared for us to do, as His disciples. These good works are not what saves us, however, they are the result of our salvation.

But God does not justify the wicked.

Exodus 23:7
Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked.

Proverbs 11:20
Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the Lord, But the blameless in their ways are His delight.

Who else needs it?

Let's see what God says.

1 Kings 8:32
then hear in heaven, and act, and judge Your servants, condemning the wicked, bringing his way on his head, and justifying the righteous by giving him according to his righteousness.

Does that help?

Doesn't help me. I'm a sinner. Does it help you?

So are you saying that I'm not okay?
So do you believe I'm not?
