What did Jesus say?

Joh 4:19 The woman said to Him, "Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.
Joh 4:20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship."

Joh 4:21 Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Joh 4:22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.
Joh 4:23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
Joh 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

What did the author of Hebrews record?

Heb 11:15 And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return.

Heb 11:16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

What did Jesus say to John?

Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

.
I Just remembered a thread concerning Rev 11:8, if any are interested:

Why Jerusalem is Mystically Called Sodom and Egypt
Why Jerusalem is Mystically Called Sodom and Egypt

Quote from OP:
In Rev 11:8 Jerusalem is called Sodom because it is where, when Jesus died and arose from the dead He completely wiped out sin as He did in Sodom when He completely destroyed it by fire and brimstone. Analysis of the ashen remains of Sodom, which was rediscovered by Wyatt Archeological Research, has shown that this comparison is accurate since they could not reignite the ashen remains that they recovered from the site of Gomorrah.
Jerusalem is mystically called Egypt because when Jesus died and arose from the dead in Jerusalem He released us from the captivity of death as He by His power alone released Israel, which symbolizes Christians, from captivity in Egypt.

Rev. 11:8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which mystically is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

I don't believe that this is all by accident. What we have here is God's Hand in bringing this about. He did this so that we would NOT build another temple there.

Because if this set up was not in place, if there were no Dome of the Rock sitting there now, the Jews may have already tried to rebuild another one in that spot.
I do not think God sent the Romans to destroy Jerusalem, but God knew it would happen. People have free will. God allowing things to happen is not the same as God causing things to happen. I can not say that the Muslim conquest was sent by God either. Even if a Jew was to offer a sacrifice on the temple mount while people were not looking, what impact would that have on the current state of affairs?

That is a temple not of stone he is speaking of. Jesus said I tell you the truth not one stone will be left upon another, then it happened. Jesus is the sacrifice, there is no need for sacrifices anymore.

Are we under the LAW (the Mosaic Law) or under Grace? We no longer need a temple and animal sacrifice!

The OP article is from a Jewish source. That is why the pronoun "we" is used. It does not come from a Christian source.

If I simply posted the words of Jesus and other New Testament authors, how can you call that "allegorically spiritualizing"?

If you cannot get what you are claiming to line up with scripture straight from the New Testament, then it is you who has a problem with a "literal" interpretation of God's Word.

.

FYI, you have an affinity of writing your posts, quoting the Scriptures as you want them to fit what your views are. Not what context they are in nor of the intended Scriptural interpretation of the subject of the thread being discussed.!

I do not think God sent the Romans to destroy Jerusalem, but God knew it would happen. People have free will. God allowing things to happen is not the same as God causing things to happen.

That's a pretty fundamental problem of free will. God gets sovereignty over everything, but he doesn't touch human will. Therefore he doesn't touch human history. He used to be confined to controlling the weather and earthquakes, but now we take credit for the weather. Basically, with human free will God doesn't do much of anything. He just sits there and points his finger and says, "I knew that would happen!"

God knows exactly what's going to happen, and he lets it happen. A man at the steering wheel knows what the car will do if he doesn't touch the steering wheel. The car drives off of the road and into someone's house, and he doesn't understand why he got blamed for the accident, when it was entirely the car's fault.

Yeah, no. The Bible mentions a few instances where God caused entire armies to invade. He does affect human history, and that's a fact.

Don't hold back Catherineanne, tell us what you think.

I did, thanks.

Really daft ideas, such as pulling down the Dome of the Rock and rebuilding the Temple need to be called out as nonsense. We think of temples as a kind of Cathedral; all peace and prayer. The ancient temple was full of the noise of animals being slaughtered, and the smell of blood and burning flesh. It was not what we imagine, or what Biblical epics portray; all white stone, pillars and billowing white curtains.

For that matter the idea that Israel today is a continuation of Israel 2000 years ago needs calling out as well. It is not the same. Ancient Israel has not been re-established. A new nation State with the same name has been established.

Christians who think that this is ancient Israel in fulfilment of Scripture are mistaken. It isn't. Christians who contribute to the building of a new Temple are playing with fire, and not in a good way.

This article is intended to be read after my article "Sacrifices and the Holy Temple." http://www.beingjewish.com/unchanged/sacrifices.html

To be sure, if we had the Holy Temple, we would resume the Holy Service, including the offering of sacrifices. So why don't we rebuild the Holy Temple? The most obvious answer would seem to be that we can't for political and safety reasons. The Muslims have control over the Temple Mount, and for us to destroy the Muslims' holy site to build our own would be a terrible and most dangerous idea. There would be no Jew safe in the entire world, or at least wherever there are Muslims.

When the Messiah comes, may it be soon, this will be resolved in a peaceful way, to everyone's satisfaction. Don't ask me how. If I knew how, I would be the Messiah. Obviously, I am not. (Isn't it refreshing to meet someone on the Internet who is not making outrageous claims about himself?)However, there are other issues involved. Even if we received the consent of every Muslim in the world to raze or move the various Mosques from the Temple Mount, we still would not be permitted to rebuild the Holy Temple just yet. Here's why:

Nowadays it is forbidden to enter the precise area where the Holy Temple used to be, because we are all ritually impure.(1) Whoever does so is violating a Biblical Prohibition punishable by death. In order for any of us to be able to become ritually pure, we would need the ablutions of the ashes of a red cow administered by a Cohen (Priest).(2)Let us assume we have performed this ritual, and are now pure. Now we need an altar. Just any altar wouldn't do, it must be in the Temple area.(3) Therefore we must rebuild the altar. (I'll bypass the problems with that, as they are too complicated to explain.)

The next problem is the location of the Altar. The Law is very precise about just where the Holy Altar must be located. It is forbidden to place the Altar anywhere else. When they built the Second Holy Temple, they had to find reliable witnesses who could testify to the exact spot. They found three such witnesses, the prophets Haggai, Zephaniah and Malachi, but we don't have any prophets or witnesses today. Thus, until a prophet (we assume that it will probably be Elijah) comes and tells us where to build the Altar (among many other things we need to know first), we cannot build the Holy Altar.(4) The answer to this I shall discuss later, Hashem willing.

Without the Holy Altar it is forbidden to bring sacrifices.Let us assume we were able to build the Altar, properly, and in the precise location. We would still need a Cohen whose genealogy can be determined absolutely and verified.(5) The answer to this problem I shall discuss later, Hashem willing. Our next problem is that we must appoint a High Priest, or all Service is forbidden.(6) To appoint a High Priest, we need a Sanhedrin, which is a body of 71 ordained rabbis acting as the Supreme Court of the People Of Israel.(7) We cannot assemble a Sanhedrin, because the Sanhedrin must consist of rabbis ordained with the Mosaic Ordination, which was transmitted from Rabbi to Rabbi since Moses.(8) However, the Mosaic Ordination ceased to exist in the year 358 C.E. because of the persecutioce, and we have made lasting peace with our enemies; when all Jews have returned to the Holy Land of Israel, and religious Jews have complete temporal and religious control over the land, then we will know that our Final Redemption has begns Constantinius perpetrated upon the Jews.(9) This too, I shall answer later, Hashem willing.

There are yet other problems, such as Laws involving the Priestly Garments, the exact measurements of the Temple area, and many, many more, all of which demand as yet undiscovered answers. And there are other types of concerns as well. The Torah does not even consider it a requirement on our part to rebuild the Holy Temple until most or all the Children of Israel live in the land of Israel. And there is also the matter of the Return of the Ten Tribes to consider, which will be part of our Final Redemption. When these things have taken plaun, and we can then turn our thoughts towards rebuilding the Holy Temple. We have a tradition that Elijah the Prophet will arrive and reveal himself to us before the Advent of the Messiah.(10) He will arrive and answer all questions and resolve all doubts.(11) He will reveal to us which families are definitely Cohanim.(12) And he is a recipient of the Ordination Of Moses(13) and can therefore restore the Sanhedrin.

And he will bring peace to the world.Thrice daily, all observant Jews pray: "...and restore the service to the Holy Sanctuary, and the fire-offerings of Israel and their prayer you will accept with love..."Rabbi Moshe Shternbuch, in his work, Moadim Uzmanim,(14) in his treatment of the subject, ends off by saying:And according to what we have explained at length above, there are innumerable reasons why we do not rebuild the Holy Temple or the Altar, nor bring sacrifices today. Nor does the repossession of the Land of Israel change that Law at all. We are unable, and therefore exempt according to the Law, without a doubt, for many reasons, until the Messiah arrives...G-d forbid that anyone should reconsider or doubt this...And I only discussed these matters out of interest in the subject, due to love of the Holy Temple and the Holy Service.

May the Holy One, Blessed is He, pour upon us a spirit of purity from high above, and may we be found worthy of having G-d's Holy Manifestation in our midst when G-d returns the Service to His Sanctuary speedily, and with our own eyes may we merit seeing everything straightened out.

[Edit by Quasar92: The above reasons in addition to those posed by the Muslims]

My take on the rebuilding of a 3rd Temple..I do not believe in it or support it at all.
If it is built in the future it will be done by the spirit of this world as another deliberate attempt to defy God and his work through Jesus Christ.
I would just like to add this though....that these people called Jews today are not spirtually or even by blood connected(if that really counted for anything) with the Hebrews and the Israelite. Over 95 percent of these people descend for the Khazars of Khazaria, located between the Black and Caspoian seas, a little North.
This tribe or nation was converted to Judaism around the 7th and 8th centuries AD. Their main belief book is the Babylonia Talmud. Their hearts and spirits are sourced from the Pharisees and their teachers (Rabbis). Their religion of Judaism was codifed by 500 AD. They are wanna-be Judahites.
They abondoned their homeland to Europe after Rus (Russians) invaded them around 900 AD. And you can see that is true if you open the European history books and see was damage their leaders have caused and how many times they were expelled from European nations....
So who are those in the current political State of Israel? They are of a Turk-Fin Asiatic race. And they cry anti-semitism. What hypocrytes. They hijacked the word English 16th century invented word 'Jew' to fool many that they are the' chosen ones of old..
Anyway, The NT nullifies the significance even of the real Israelites. As those that are in Christ are from all walks of life whether they been a Judean, Judahite, modern Jew or from some other national identity. Israel are believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father is called God Almighty.

I have a problem with the text you are quoting. It reads:

Abraham, of course, brought sacrifices, and was even willing to sacrifice his son when he thought Hashem wanted him to. Of course, as we know, Hashem had never intended that Abraham actually bring Isaac as a sacrifice, Hashem merely wanted Abraham to think that. Abraham passed the test, and human sacrifice has never become a part of our heritage.

God told Abraham to sacrifice his son. Gen 22:2 says, “And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”

This was a test, yes, but God did not just want Abraham to think. He wanted him to obey. It was only when Abraham had the knife in his hand, and was plunging it down to kill Isaac that God stopped Abraham. Up to that point, it was not to make Abraham to think, it was to obey, and when God saw that Abraham was obedient, then He stopped Abraham.

You are ging to be in for a big surprise during Jesus Millennial reign, when you worship Him in the temple He will build, as recorded in Zech.6:12-13. The animal sacrificial system is not going to be used for a persons salvation. What you fail to recognize, is the fact that up to that time, Israel had no idea what the seven feasts and festivals represented. Do you know? Jesus will teach them as the Chief Priest, as well as King.

I have been a born again Christian for bo less than 80 years now.

Deceiving myself, brother I think you are the one who is confused. You are taking scriptures and plucking them out of context. Frankly if you do not understand the believer is the temple then...well I guess we are done discussing this.

The prophet Ezekiel (Ezekiel 40-48) describes in great detail a temple in Israel that is much too large to fit on the present Temple Mount site.
The forthcoming Lord's great Day of fiery wrath will clear and cleanse the entire area of the Middle East and Jerusalem a heap of ruins.....and the towns of Judah a waste, without inhabitants. Jeremiah 9:11
The prophesies tell of an unprecedented devastation, that will enable the Temple to be built by the new Christian citizens of all the holy Land, to Ezekiel specifications;
Isaiah 28:22b ....For I have heard that destruction is decreed upon the whole Land.

Isaiah 10:23 For the Lord of Hosts will bring final destruction on the whole Land.

Ezekiel 20:47 The Lord says: I am about to kindle a fire, one that will consume anything flammable. All of the Land and people from the Negev northward will be scorched by it.

Ezekiel 21:4 It is because I intend to make away with both righteous and wicked alike, that My sword of punishment is against everyone from the Negev northward.

Jeremiah 22:6-7 The Lord says about the Royal House of Judah: Though you are dear to Me, I swear that I shall turn your Land into a desert; a Land of towns no longer inhabited. A destructive host will come upon you and burn your dwellings.

Jeremiah 21:14 I shall punish you as you deserve, I shall set fire to your open Land, it will devour everything round about.

Hosea 4:3 Therefore the Land will be desolate, all that lives in it will be wasted, even the wild animals, birds and the fish of the sea will vanish.

Jeremiah 7:34 From the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, I shall banish all sounds of joy and gladness, for the whole Land will become a desert.

Zephaniah 1:18 On the Day of the Lord’s wrath, by the fire of His jealousy, the whole Land will be consumed, for He will make a sudden and terrible end to all who live in the Land.

Micah 1:6 I shall reduce Samaria to a ruin, to a place for planting vineyards. I will level the hills and valleys; lay bare their foundations.

Micah 5:11 I shall devastate the cities of your Land and destroy your military power.

Amos 6:11 When the Lord commands, great houses will be reduced to rubble and the small houses shattered.
Jeremiah 8:16 The sound of the Destroyer approaches and the whole Land trembles, it comes and consumes everything, crops, trees, city and citizens alike.

Joel 1:15-20 The Day of the Lord comes; a mighty destruction from the Almighty, all food is cut off, the Land is shriveled and dry, for fire has consumed the pastures and every tree is burned up.
Jeremiah 25:38 The Land has become a waste and ruined because of the fierce anger of the Lord.

Jeremiah 10:19 The Land says: O the pain of my wounds, I have suffered cruel injuries and am laid low, but I must endure it, because the shepherds of the people are fools and never consult the Lord; so their flock is scattered.

Jeremiah 9:10 I shall chant a dirge over the mountains and pastures, for all is scorched and untrodden, I hear no sound of livestock, even the birds have fled and gone.

Jeremiah 4:26-28 The fertile Land has become a wilderness, its towns all razed to the ground before the fierce anger of the Lord. The Lord says: the whole Land will be desolate, totally destroyed. All the earth will be in mourning for this and the sky will be black. For now I have made known My purpose, I will not relent or change it.

Isaiah 32:12 Go into mourning for your pleasant fields and fruitful Land; for every happy home in the bustling city. Houses are forsaken and the streets are deserted.

Isaiah 33:8a-9 The roads are deserted, the Land is parched and dry. Lebanon is dried out, Sharon is like a desert and Bashan and Gilead are stripped bare.

Isaiah 24:10 & 13 The city is shattered and in chaos....all joy and merriment has gone from the Land. Nothing but desolation is left and the entrances to the city are smashed.

Jeremiah 12:4 &10-13 How long must the country lie parched, its grass withered? No birds or beasts are left, because God has judged the wicked inhabitants, they said: God does not see what we are doing. A sword from the Lord has devoured the Land from end to end and now it’s all a desolate wilderness. Ref: REB, NIV, KJV. Some verses abridged.

Interestingly enough Israel captured the Temple Mount in the 6 day war and raised the Israeli flag but Moshe Dayan a Jewish atheist ordered it to come down.

Quoting an Article from The Atlantic

"Gur’s half-track led the attack, crashing through the massive bronze doors onto the Via Delarosa, then turning left and onto the Temple Mount. Gur and Achmon rushed up a flight of stairs leading to a large plaza—the golden Dome of the Rock and the silver-domed al-Aqsa. Gur radioed headquarters: “The Temple Mount is in our hands.” He wasn’t just making a military report, but staking a historic claim. The focus of centuries of Jewish longing, the place toward which Jews prayed no matter where they lived, was now in Israeli hands.

The brigade’s chief communications officer, Ezra Orni, retrieved an Israeli flag from his pouch and asked Gur whether he should hang it over the Dome of the Rock. “Yalla,” said Gur, go up. Achmon accompanied him into the Dome of the Rock. They climbed to the top of the building and victoriously fastened the Israeli flag onto a pole topped with an Islamic crescent.

Except then the flag was quickly and unceremoniously lowered. Defense Minister Moshe Dayan, watching the scene through binoculars from Mount Scopus, urgently radioed Gur and demanded: Do you want to set the Middle East on fire? Gur told Achmon to remove the flag. But Achmon couldn’t bear the notion of lowering the Israeli flag, and so he instructed one of his men to do it instead."

Not what context they are in nor of the intended Scriptural interpretation of the subject of the thread being discussed.!

Then why don't you explain the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ in Hebrews 8:6-13, and specifically applied to the Church in Hebrews 12:22-24, and 2 Corinthians 3:6-8.

Please show us how I am taking the scripture above out of context.

Who will be the first to roll the dice?

Sozomen (ca. A.D.375-447)
"Ecclesiastical History"
Book V, Chapter XXII

Though the emperor [Julian the Apostate] hated and opressed the Christians, he manifested benevolence and humanity towards the Jews. He wrote to the Jewish patriarchs and leaders, as well as to the people, requesting them to pray for him, and for the prosperity of the empire. In taking this step he was not actuated, I am convinced, by any respect for their religion; for he was aware that it is, so to speak, the mother of the Christian religion, and he knew that both religions rest upon the authority of the patriarchs and the prophets; but he thought to grieve the Christians by favoring the Jews, who are their most inveterate enemies. But perhaps he also calculated upon persuading the Jews to embrace paganism and sacrifices; for they were only acquainted with the mere letter of Scripture, and could not, like the Christians and a few of the wisest among the Hebrews, discern the hidden meaning.

Events proved that this was his real motive; for he sent for some of the chiefs of the race and exhorted them to return to the observance of the laws of Moses and the customs of their fathers. On their replying that because the temple in Jerusalem was overturned, it was neither lawful nor ancestral to do this in another place than the metropolis out of which they had been cast, he gave them public money, commanded them to rebuild the temple, and to practice the cult similar to that of their ancestors, by sacrificing after the ancient way. The Jews entered upon the undertaking, without reflecting that, according to the prediction of the holy prophets, it could not be accomplished. They sought for the most skillful artisans, collected materials, cleared the ground, and entered so earnestly upon the task, that even the women carried heaps of earth, and brought their necklaces and other female ornaments towards defraying the expense. The emperor, the other pagans, and all the Jews, regarded every other undertaking as secondary in importance to this. Although the pagans were not well-disposed towards the Jews, yet they assisted them in this enterprise, because they reckoned upon its ultimate success, and hoped by this means to falsify the prophecies of Christ. Besides this motive, the Jews themselves were impelled by the consideration that the time had arrived for rebuilding their temple. When they had removed the ruins of the former building, they dug up the ground and cleared away its foundation; it is said that on the following day when they were about to lay the first foundation, a great earthquake occurred, and by the violent agitation of the earth, stones were thrown up from the depths, by which those of the Jews who were engaged in the work were wounded, as likewise those who were merely looking on. The houses and public porticos, near the site of the temple, in which they had diverted themselves, were suddenly thrown down; many were caught thereby, some perished immediately, others were found half dead and mutilated of hands or legs, others were injured in other parts of the body. When God caused the earthquake to cease, the workmen who survived again returned to their task, partly because such was the edict of the emperor, and partly because they were themselves interested in the undertaking. Men often, in endeavoring to gratify their own passions, seek what is injurious to them, reject what would be truly advantageous, and are deluded-by the idea that nothing is really useful except what is agreeable to them. When once led astray by this error, they are no longer able to act in a manner conducive to their own interests, or to take warning by the calamities which are visited upon them.

The Jews, I believe, were just in this state; for, instead of regarding this unexpected earthquake as a manifest indication that God was opposed to the re-erection of their temple, they proceeded to recommence the work. But all parties relate, that they had scarcely returned to the undertaking, when fire burst suddenly from the foundations of the temple, and consumed several of the workmen.

This fact is fearlessly stated, and believed by all; the only discrepancy in the narrative is that some maintain that flame burst from the interior of the temple, as the workmen were striving to force an entrance, while others say that the fire proceeded directly from the earth. In whichever way the phenomenon might have occurred, it is equally wonderful. A more tangible and still more extraordinary prodigy ensued; suddenly the sign of the cross appeared spontaneously on the garments of the persons engaged in the undertaking. These crosses were disposed like stars, and appeared the work of art. Many were hence led to confess that Christ is God, and that the rebuilding of the temple was not pleasing to Him; others presented themselves in the church, were initiated, and besought Christ, with hymns and supplications, to pardon their transgression. If any one does not feel disposed to believe my narrative, let him go and be convinced by those who heard the facts I have related from the eyewitnesses of them, for they are still alive. Let him inquire, also, of the Jews and pagans who left the work in an incomplete state, or who, to speak more accurately, were able to commence it.

Isn't the most obvious answer to this that we don't need a temple anymore. The Christian is the temple of God. the old has been replaced by the new. The Holy Spirit resides in each believer.

Your are right, in that is our situation during this Church age. But God required a Temple before and the prophesies are quite clear; there will be a third Temple in the last days. One that Jesus will Return into and reign from for the next Millennium.

Coming of Christ Jesus - 12.25.2060 - Exactly 1260 years from the time of the inauguration of Charlemagne King.

Be careful brother.

The above statement is against the words of Jesus in
Matt 24
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Isaiah 8:20
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them
