I don't have to know the issue, I have to know God, because God does not change but man's opinions of the issues will always change with the wind.
And I certainly have heard those voices in my own life. I'm very familiar with them, and they always do the same things; The voice of God agrees with His word, and the voice of satan always wants to:
1. please me or
2. frighten me, or
3. lull me into sin.

whatever the issue, you can count on satan's response being one of those 3.
Again. You are advising another, yet talking about yourself. I'm confused.

You are advising another, so how can you be confident in what you have not experienced?

This seems more like a Pychic Hotline answer.

P.S. Satan can sound a lot like God. Read the Word.
because there is nothing new under the Sun?
P.S. for those who know God, satan sounds nothing like Him.

Father, I would love Your input here, because we, Your children, aren't agreeing. So I ask You to reveal Your Truth to the OP. Give him clarity on this issue. Please, make Your will known to him. In Jesus' name, Amen!

Will the rest of you join me in this prayer? Let's let God do the talking. :)

I completely agree, as you can see in my first post. But you don't know what this issue is about, what option is a sin. So how can you know for sure that the first voice is of satan?
Ah, relativism strikes again!
the mere fact that there is a question or a choice to be made indicates to me that there are two forces at work here. That the choices are opposed to each other on a moral basis indicates that what we have is an old conflict dressed up in modern terms. Therefore it is more important to go back to basics to determine exactly what the real problem is than it is to understand the problem in the context of today's values.

Because God tempts no man, but satan will always do so.

So, there's a personal issue I've struggled with for a long time that without giving too much away, am basically at a point where I've realized that I have to deal with it instead of just acknowledging it's there and managing it. The thing that I'm hearing all of these voices (not literally, obviously, you know what I mean) and I don't know which one to listen to, which one is God's voice. There's ultimately two ways they're pushing me. The first is based on love, support, acceptance, and scientific truth. The second seems to be about sin, guilt, self-denial, and absolute truth.
I have another question for you: which one will bring you closer to Christ?

You need to read more of the Bible.

You sound like Eve before she ate the apple. Don't underestimate the adversary.

Let's please keep this thread about addressing the OP and his question rather than arguing over others' responses. I think the OP would appreciate that.

I can state my opinion and I think it is good advice not to underestimate the adversary.

Too bad you disagree. Interesting your responding to me and not advising the OP yourself.

A little pot calling the kettle black.

Choose the second voice.

The first voice belongs to satan, because it will let you stay right where your human self would be most comfortable.

Actually, niether option is more comforting than the other, or would make an easier path.

I don't have to know the issue, I have to know God, because God does not change but man's opinions of the issues will always change with the wind.

The second "voice", is more frightening, trying to scare me into obedience. It doesn't feel like conviction, but fear and doubt.

I have another question for you: which one will bring you closer to Christ?

I don't know. I think they both could. The first one seems more like God, and the second is saying "What if your wrong, 'Satan comes as an angel of light', etc."

Pray. Pray. Pray.

Ask God to show you conclusively. Don't guess. When in doubt. Get more info.

I personally believe the world, and mankind in general, completely messes up what we consider love, truth, acceptance, and try to wrap it around scientific 'fact'. The Holy Spirit convicts us.

John 16:8 says, "“When [the Spirit] comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment."

So, you'll have to ask yourself which is a more worldly ideal and which is a more biblical one. I also don't think the devil would tell you to follow the bible and God's word lol.

The problem is that I see them both as Biblical ideals, well the first one more. The second doesn't seem like conviction, but fear and "what if you're wrong".

If there is one thing I know about discerning voices it's that the "what ifs" are always from the enemy.
Because there are no what ifs in God. He knows everything, He knows what will happen. And He won't confuse you like that. He will never cause doubts.

And so what if it's deception? Then God will just lead you to where you need to go anyway. Tell that to the enemy, and take the road where God is giving you peace and assurance in Him.

The bible says that God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of peace, love, and a sound mind. So, just make a choice. And if you're wrong, you're wrong.

Hi,
all that is good comes from God. Pray to Jesus and ask him to guide you in all things. Ask Him to help you hear his voice above all others, to protect you from all harm and darkness. Then live in faith believing. Trust it will be so. X

I sometimes see an interesting character in dreams.

They seem to be the same person appearing in different forms. A man the same age as I do, an old man, a woman, as animals.

They often leave me clues to the answer to the one of the most fundamental question we have - why are we here?

At one point, he even gave me something. He said if I took it, I will wake up to the real world (our world) and it did!

And then I went back to sleep and I went back to the exact same place! What he told, we don't live in a real world. FAKE is the exact word he said.
