A lot of people, that use Alcohol or drugs are self medicating. Instead of getting help. If he was a true addict. He would need help to get off. So he doesn't sound like an addict.

First time I have heard pot called that, and I grew up with it in the late '70s when I served during the Vietnam war. He for sure must have some serious mental issues. Or perhaps cannabis is a lot more potent than in my days.
