The Book of Life is the book in which appear the names of everyn living person. The Lamb's Book of Life is the book in which appears the name of every person who has been born again, spiritually speaking, who has been saved through the blood of Jesus Christ, by believing in Him as their Lord and Savior. These are not actually books, but God speaks to man in the language that he can understand. To say that our names are in these books is to say that we are predestined and in the mind of God. When do our names appear in these books?

The answer is found in Psalm 139:16:

"Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance;
And in thy book they were all written,
Even the days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was none of them."

Everyone has his name written in the "Book of Life".

Those who never believe in Jesus Christ will have their names blotted out of this book, after they have lived their entire life without repenting of their sins and receiving Him as their Lord and Savior. The righteous, the born-again believers, have their names written in the Lamb's Book of Life and will never have their names blotted out of it.

Specific reference to the Book of Life is found in the following:

Exodus 32:31-33 Moses knew of the existence of God's book of life, and realized a person's name could be removed (blotted out) from it.

Psalms 69:27-28 It is important to remain faithful to the one true God. Not doing so could result in one's name being removed from God's book of life.

Daniel 12:1-2 seen also in John 5:28-29, which refers to the second resurrection, when all the dead will be raised for judgment at the same time, some to everlasting life, while others will be thrown into the lake of fire, according to Mt.25:46 and Rev.20:15.

Malachi 3:16-18 Those who fear Almighty God, calling on His name and serving Him, will be found written in the book of remembrance.

Revelation 13:4-9 A person whose name is not in the book of life will serve the beast.

Revelation 20:11-15 Many books are opened, one of them being the Book of Life. The dead are judged according to what they had done according to their works. Those not found written in the Book of Life will be thrown into the lake of fire.

Though it is not specifically documented as the Book of Life, it is clearly inferred in Jn.11:26; Rom.8:29-30; Eph.1:13-14 and 4:4-6 among many other places.

There are no new names written in the Lambs book of life.
The names of the believers is written there from the foundation of the earth.

Revelations 17
8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

So if your name was not written there at the beginning of time, your not going to be saved.
This clearly points to why God predestines believers, since the believers names God wrote in the Lamb's book of life at the foundation of the earth.

As far as God blotting out names of the wicked, this is the idea that even the remembrance of them will be gone as well as they will be gone, there names are not written with the righteous. The evil go to their own place, and the righteous to their own places, as God has preordained for each of them.
If their names are blotted out, that means they are certainly dead and will not inherit the kingdom of heaven.

Psalm 9:5
You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever.
Psalm 69:28
Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, And not be written with the righteous.

Psalm 109:13
Let his posterity be cut off, And in the generation following let their name be blotted out.

Now this one is more relevant today for us who are Christians.
Revelation 3:5
He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

Only overcomers will get to live.
Now who are the overcomers?, they are the believers in Christ who are born of God.
Agrees with Christ's words that those who believe in Him have passed from death into life, in John 5.

1 John 5
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Please accept my compliments on a good piece of work.

The OP was written on the basis of mans understanding of human life, from birth, to the physical death of it. As we learn from the Scriptures tell us bot the BEMA judgment, which will be based upon what we do while in our human bodies.

Blessings.

FYI, I think this may be an OT ref to the Book of Life:

Exodus:
{32:30} And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an
atonement for your sin.
{32:31} And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.
{32:32} Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

Interesting concept, perhaps God knows who's written in the book he has written?
