Pres. Trump decided to keep LGBT+ protections for federal employees back in January.
Trump Keeps LGBT Protections for Federal Workers
Every citizens should have equal protections under the law as employees. Because of the abuses by some in the past, there are minority groups who need a law that says that employers cannot treat them differently.

I have nothing to say about Ivanka's tweet.

I think that was/is the Trump plan.
I wouldn't vote for her now, not after this administration. If she had run before, I think she would have been much better, but she was/is too liberal for the GOP primary.

You're probably right.

A handbag designer is no more qualified to the President of the United States than is a game show host. Governing involves having command of a certain knowledge base and a certain skill set. It's not something that just anybody can do.

Well, after being in the White House with her father for 8 yrs. she would have a much more working knowledge than her father has even now.

You're probably right.
But then I thought Trump was too scumming for the GOP.
IF only my evangelical friends would have investigated trump and looked
at all the major false prophets who led him right to the hearts of the church.
Trump is not who either side sees him as. What Obama did unto the left
trump will do unto the right. He is delusion for an unrepentant church
as was Obama delusion to the unrepentant left churches. Raphael
should cheer for trump. Trump will bring a false positive message to the right.
the left and right will meet and the true christains will end up hated more than ever.
I seen this coming a while back. beware , hank, beware his positive christain message.
Trump is law and order and he can get the right to accept the gay agenda as well
as interfaith. When I say the left and right will meet, I mean the churches.
division itself will only increase. Hank. Do not buy any concept of interfaith .
I know it sounds good , but its wicked. In time it will be the only religion by law
Sure you can keep your religion so LONG as ..........you place humanity first
Jesus far second, and be all about colletive salvation and NO saying JESUS is the only way.
seriously true christains need to flee any concept of interfaith.
the whole world, from gays , transgenders , atheist buddits
lukewarm christains , muslims , they will love and embrace this religion
for world peace. Its a religion that accepts all, wont correct, wont
state sin as sin , it will just allow all to remain in darkness , yet feel good or saved
because of course it does some good works. some. But its heart is wicked bad .

Don't like him, don't trust him, didn't vote for him.
That is good to hear. Me, I didn't vote for any of them.
The left picks and chooses sin , the right does too.
I say seek ye the Kingdom of heaven where all policies are just and right.

I didn't vote for Trump either. and I don't support him. That doesn't mean I disagree with every single thing that he's done, but I don't support him.

From what I've gathered she is about as close to a progressive on the White House staff as your going to get. She approved of the Paris accords and she want's to celebrate an LGBT event embracing diversity. It's a free country, I don't really see the problem.

Don't know? Should they?

I didn't see a WH tweet for Irish pride day on 17 March this year. Obama forgot that as well.

Should I feel marginalized as an Irish American because the WH did not send out an Irish pride Tweet on St Patrick's day?

Maybe I should complain given the massive contributions Irish immigrants and their progeny contributed to build and defend this great nation.

I don't want them to celebrate it unless they decide to push for full LGBT rights. Otherwise they'll just be adding hypocrisy to bigotry, as usual.

This. I agree with the sentiments of Ivanka's Tweets, but fear they are merely window dressings, and that behind the curtain it's a vastly different scene. She has a history of writing pretty rhetoric that belies less flattering reality. During National History Week Ivanka wrote an eloquent Tweet about "honoring our libraries and librarians for opening our eyes to the world of knowledge, learning and reading". Librarians responded with statements about how her dad's proposed budget cuts would defund libraries and hurt American citizens.

Trump's Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, has put on a tap dancing show in regards to protections for LGBT students the past few months, at times giving responses that seemed promising towards providing protection to all, and then shifting. It prompted this recent article asking if her comments encourage anti-gay bias.
Comments from Betsy DeVos about unsettled law raise doubts about commitment to LGBT protections

I'm also Irish American. Actually, St. Patrick's Day is very well celebrated, and there is an Irish American heritage month. There is also an Irish American Congressional Caucus.

Since you said you wanted those things, event though you did not realise they were already in existence apparently, why should other communities not have the same caucuses and heritage months?

I'm not. Why? Because Irish immigrates have been here for many, many years and have been the recipients of equal rights for all that time.
For the LGBT group this is something new, rather like the Civil Rights movement of the 60s.
