I have always taken this as the use of the title "Christian" ... as the early believers were taught that Christ (the Anointed) resided in them "as soon as they believed" ... & showed that by following Jesus' lead of full immersion Baptism in the Jordan River ... leaving the old Jesus (the carpenter) behind & coming up as Jesus Christ (the anointed) (see John 14:23, etc. plus Gal 2:20) They would have made this known among others (non-believers) & as they passed along, people likely said, "Here come those Christ-ins" ... this was adapted to be "Here come those Christians.
So a "true" believer is one who ... no longer I who live, but Christ Jesus who lives in me! PLUS John 14:23 states that Father, Lord Jesus will make their abode (dwelling place) in a believer who abides by all the "rules & teaching" ...
someone who has become a "new creation" 2 Cor 5:17 ... grafted into the True Vine by Father so that all that Jesus has & is flows into the branch (part of the Body of Christ) moment, by moment!

Yeah, there are a number of ways to look at it.

However, the issue here is the discrepancy between the Bible and the book of mormon as to WHEN they were first called "Christians"

" but Christ Jesus who lives in me"

But, I am sure that you will agree that it MUST be the BIBLICAL Jeaus, right?

Not the Jesus who is the brother of lucifer, one God among many Gods produced by physical sex between God the father and mary, right.

I mean, just using the NAME "Jesus" means nothing unless we are talking about the BIBLICAL Jesus Christ.

Hi Jane,

Can you please add more to your reply explaining what you mean. Thanks.
Bible tells the story of the Old World-- first time called "Christian" in the Old World. It is an accurate statement for the Old World and everything those people know and would know for centuries more.
The Book of Mormon is a story of the New World (aka the Americas).

Kiwi's question is mixing up events which happen on two different hemispheres, had been completely separated for centuries, and would continue to be separated for centuries more.

This post is very misrepresentative of LDS beliefs.

You are aware that there is only 1 Jesus, right?? What you may believe in this 1 Jesus may be different than what I believe, but that does not make 2 Jesus'. Only 1.

BTW maybe .00003% of the Mormon people believe that there was physical sex between God the Father and Mary, so in your list of differences, drop that one. She was a virgin, and having sex with God the Father would have ruined that virginity. It's pretty logical.

Well I think I agree with you, all the prophets looked forward to the age of Christ, this would make them Christians in their hearts even though they weren't formally called Christians.

WHICH Christ, though? The one Holy, eternal, everlasting God without beginning or end or the one who was created by physical, natural relations between a ressurected man who had to eqrn His way to BECOME a God the father and mary and is the brother of lucifer and not his creator?

Or the muslim Jesus who is not God but just a prophet?

Or the Jehovah Witness Jesus who is not God, did not raise bodily and was not nailed to a cross?

Which one?

The Bible does speak of other Jesus' s. Other Christ's.

There's only one Christ. Different groups think different things about Him, but that doesn't magically clone a bunch of Christ's. There's only one.
