A question asked on another thread. Here it is. From Lil Shepherd Boy.
"But let me ask you this. From reading your last few posts, are you saying you're skeptical of this peace deal falling through because you don't think Trump is the a/c and the a/c is the one who will make the peace deal happen?"

Hi Lil Shepherd Boy. To answer your question, let us examine what scripture says.

Dan. 9: 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

I started this thread to invite the participation of others, and I did not want to hijack the other thread with a whole lot of debate. :) So, imho the AC is the he in this verse. the reason I say that President Trump will not be able to broker the peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians is I believe the person that brokers the peace between Israel and the Palestinians will be the AC and I do NOT believe President Trump is the AC.

Peace Deal or Confirm a Covenant?

Actually, "confirm the covenant" would be best.

The whole chapter of Daniel 9 is one discourse where Daniel's prayer is immediately followed by Gabriel's prophecy. So...

When Gabriel mentions "the covenant", he should be talking about "the covenant" Daniel had mentioned.

Daniel 9:4... And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

Daniel 9:27... And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

P.S.

Whereas most Futurists believe a currently not existing peace treaty will be established...

I believe Gabriel was saying that beginning with Jesus' baptism, the already existing Old Covenant would be "confirmed" (prevail, gabar in Hebrew) for another 7 years (a prophetic "week").

Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Heb 10:16  This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. (From the New Covenant of Jeremiah 31:31-34)

Daniel 9:27

And he (a) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to (b) cease, (c) and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

(a) By the preaching of the Gospel he affirmed his promise, first to the Jews, and after to the Gentiles.

(b) Christ accomplished this by his death and resurrection.

(c) Meaning that Jerusalem and the sanctuary would be utterly destroyed because of their rebellion against God, and their idolatry: or as some read, that the plague will be so great, that they will all be astonished at them.

It's hard to see anyone creating peace in the middle east while the Palestinians and Arab nations continue to refuse to recognise Israel as a legit state. It would take a person to claim to be their God for any peace deals to come about , and I don't think anyone yet has claimed to be their God.

I think you are implying that you believe "the covenant" in Daniel 9:27 refers to the New Covenant.

Correct?

I do not primarily because...

1) There is no time limit on the New Covenant. It certainly does not last 7 years.

2) "The covenant" in verse 27 should be the same as "the covenant" in verse 4.

If "the covenant" in verse 27 is referring to "the covenant" in verse 4, which is referring to the Old Covenant...

Then "the covenant" did have a time limit when Jesus showed up on the scene. It was only going to last 7 years (a prophetic "week") from the time Jesus was baptized.

Do you think the angel Gabriel came to announce the timeline of the New Covenant Messiah and forgot to mention the New Covenant?

The scriptural reference beside of Daniel 9:27 in my NKJV Bible is Matthew 26:28.

I think...

In Daniel 9:24, Gabriel was announcing that Jesus would bring in a New Covenant.

And in Daniel 9:27, Gabriel is announcing that the Old Covenant would only last for a short time after the New Covenant is established.

To answer the original question as easily as possible without getting side tracked.

Israel is free to enter into multiple peace agreements. A peace agreement brokered by Trump between Israel and Palestine could happen AND later Israel could enter into an agreement with the antichrist.

I do not think that Trump is the antichrist nor do I feel that the antichrist is Palestinian. But any deal the antichrist may or may not broker with Israel has little to do with a completely different agreement between Israel and other parties.

I wouldn't place expectations one way or another on a Palestinian peace agreement based only on if I felt any of the parties involved was the antichrist.

What would your opinion be if Trump has an assassination attempt made on him, giving him 'a mortal head wound'?

Martyr or antichrist?

You answered my question with the above comment confirming what I thought, and yesterday I said we are on the same page that I don't believe Trump is the a/c either.

There's not enough specificity to really know if there's a pre-existing covenant that the antichrist strengthens and enforces or if its a completely new one that he confirms. Trying to give an exact definition of "gabar" would be like trying to do the same with a multitude of Hebrew words, such as "kiydown" or "cheber", which just isn't possible.

My opinion would be based on whether he actually was confirmed dead, and then he comes back to life.
