You make a big deal out of "if." Lot of Christians aren't led by the Spirit. Somehow that doesn't mean they are under the law as much as they try to be. I'd bet lots of them don't even know bout Gal 5:18.

Of course I make a big deal, because Paul did. There are conditions everywhere if you are careful to find them.

And you are right, many 'Christians' have never turned from their sin in order to receive the Holy Spirit. I'm afraid for them.

So the church is gnostic. That's a great reason to not attend and become poisoned.

Many teachings in certain denominations are, yes. But not the whole church.

Christianity has many problems with its adherents and so-called adherents. This is true about church because its not about God anymore. God is just the excuse for many to attend.

To some the Bible is just a history book.

If you are referring to the Holy Spirit when you write about "walking in the Spirit" then I am on the same beam you are on. If on the other hand if you are referring that "walking in the Spirit" means speaking in tongues then all you write, to me, means nothing. I am not charismatic, I don't understand them and the Holy Spirit has never led me to act in the way they do. The Holy Spirit has blessed me abundantly and more than I deserve. I am not referring to wealth of material things. He has guided me in choices that I know are from Him. My wife, my faith and all that I do I see His leading. I hope you and me are on the same beam.

No dear, walking in the Spirit has to do with holiness. It is the opposite of indulging the flesh. Gifts are a blessing, but not what I'm talking about.

Indulging in the flesh, hum, meaning like treating myself to a good movie, buying a luxury car instead of basic transportation or maybe not buying any transportation. Maybe you consider buying strawberries when they are twice the price as those grown in your own area indulging. Is indulging owning a home here in hog heaven. Do I have to sell all that I have or give it to someone else to enjoy free of doing anything to gain it? Is going out and having a good time with someone you might enjoy being with indulging? Is there possibility that one could become obsessed with thinking they are indulging that they become reclusive or off balance?

LOL Haven't you read Galatians 5? I almost have it memorized!

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Hello 1stcenturylady.

Do you regard moral law as the ten commandments?

By their fruit we can know who they are. Those who practice a wicked lifestyle aren't Christian. Could say more but would only cause problems.

If you find a church that doesn't teach and practice things found in the law and other extra biblical requirements, I want to know about it. Addressing any of those things will most usually cause one to at least be isolated from fellowship leaving no reason to attend.

Many here have no balance. Unfortunately for me to live also requires interaction with even the wicked. One thing that bothers me a lot is those who think I have to do business with them just because they present themselves as Christian. Often times their work and products are shoddy. Very poor testimony.

That in no way promotes the law.

No reference to your post makes your comment meaningless.

If seventh day observance is compulsory, then Christ's blood avails me nothing, as I am back to being saved by my works, and not by grace.

Hello 1stcenturylady.

Do you regard moral law as the ten commandments?

The moral law is much more than what is in the 10C, though the 10c has some. Paul makes it clear what lust of the flesh will produce, but I'm sure there are more than what he's listed in Galatians 5. The law is written on our conscience/heart. Thus, you KNOW what is immoral. You don't need a written list. Even if you do something "lawful" but you don't have faith for, is immoral. "whatever is not from faith is sin."

If you know to do right, and don't, it is sin. If you do what you know to be wrong, it is sin. Therefore, walk by the Spirit - He won't lead you wrong.

Hello 1stcenturylady.

A very good post of yours.

Of course there are more sins than are listed by Paul, as Paul says so in the verse you quoted.

Galatians 5
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these

The Holy Spirit always convicts of sin and always leads us ever deeper into true holiness.
