The call from Cardinal Burke for the Holy Father to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I signed. Some won't sign because they believe it's already done.

Mary has been the Protectress of Russia since the Baptism of Kieven Rus in 988 A.D. How can Russia be more dedicated or consecrated to Mary than she is?

Did it seem too politically or socially risky? Just guessing. Maybe wrong?

Yeah pretty much so
During the Soviet Union it was seen risky to call out Russia like that and it would increase persecution of the Church

Now it is seen as something that would offend the Russian Orthodox and hurt ecumenical efforts

Basically those in positions of authority are more concerned about offending people rather than being loyal to Christ

Do you feel that the Catholic and Orthodox worlds could be close to reconciliation of some kind?

No, not really
It would literally take a miracle
But that is what we are waiting for with the consecration of Russia

We should pray the rosary daily
I know I have not always been very good at keeping that

I have no problem with doing it again but it has been done in the past. Western Europe seems to be in a much worse state than in the East. They threw off the shackles of communism and rediscovered their Christian past.

North Korea...ISIS...Islamic terror...yet some believe the Consecration's already done.

Added to the above: Marawi (Mindanao, Philippines) , Manchester....
yet some believe the Consecration's already done properly.

It was very political. There were times when the popes thought it was inconvenient, especially before and during WWII. They consecrated "the world", but Sr. Lucia said that it didn't fulfill the request. I believe Sr. Lucia. I don't know if Pope Saint JP II did it specifically. I'm reading a current history of the time now. If I find out, I'll return here and let you know.
Monk Brendan, Mary asked for it in 1917 before Russia went Communist, and the apparent reason was because of the Communist Revolution.

There's a lot of hurdles, and it may be a long road.

Sr Lucía herself said the consecration done by Pope John Paul II on 25 March 1984 had been fulfilled and accepted in Heaven, according to Cardinal Tarciso Bertone. And the Soviet Union did dissolve not long after that.

However, curiously, she also said the consecration of Russia would come through "the Oriental Rite," presumably meaning the Russian Orthodox Church.

I only found it when looking the topic up just recently on Wikipedia. Their source is this book called "Russia Will be Converted" by John Haffert, who created the Blue Army Of Our Lady of Fatima (which exists today, having been approved by Pius XII) and created the Fatima pledge with Sr Lucia's help. In his book, though, he only refers to it as a rumor.

Also worthy of note: in the same book, Haffert considers the great danger to Russia that the Consecration would protect against was Communism.

Wasn't John Haffert the author of "Meet the Witnesses", which talks about Fatima witnesses?

Some Catholic scholars believe that Sr Lucia was an imposter.
They compared photos of the young and old Sr Lucias and pointed out they look different.

That opens every can in the worm store, and I'd rather not.
