Every since I renewed my faith in God and Jesus, I can't stop thinking about it. I also can't stop thinking about everyone else either and about how they are likely going to hell. Am I alone in this?
No, I have been that way too. In fact, I've been totally paralyzed by the fear of it. Finally i just had to say if I'm going there I'm going there and making myself miserable in the here and now isn't going to change it.

I tried to push it as far from my mind as possible and only use it if i feel like it could be useful in changing my behavior.

The bible says that God doesn't give you a spirit of fear, but of peace, love, and a sound mind. He wants you to know you're His and nothing can take you from out of His hands. Us going to Heaven isn't conditioned around our good works or doing bad works, but His sacrifice. He died, we accepted His sacrifice, and that's it. Our sins were put on that cross, never to be seen the light of day again.

Nope, not at all. I've been extremely anxious lately about hell. Also I wonder about people like me, what's going to happen to everybody? I don't know. It's not up to me but it's very terrifying.

Your fears and doubts are there for a reason. They drive you to get ever closer to your God, and distance yourself from sin. One poster cited 2 Timothy 1:7 as a comfort, but with all due respect this is a verse about not fearing what your enemy does. We most certainly are commanded to fear our God, and what He can do (Luke 12:4-5). Let the fear of God drive you to obedience and sanctification, for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10, Psalms 111:10).

Hell obsessions. I do suffer from obsessions just not this one....yet. Maybe I should. Does God really want us to obsess over eternal torture? I don't think so. He wants us to wake up now and then, when we ignore Him. The Good Shepherd. The Father of the Prodigal Son. Fortunately my earthly father was like this anyway. I feel privileged to have received God's love through him.

Question: "Who will go to hell?"

Answer:
Hell has become a controversial subject in recent years, even among Christians. However, the controversy is entirely man-made. The rejection of the reality of hell stems from a human inability to reconcile the love of God with eternal punishment or from an outright rejection of God’s Word. Even some professing Christians have come to unbiblical conclusions. Some have tried to redefine hell, create an intermediate state not found in Scripture, or deny hell altogether. In doing so, they are ignoring Jesus’ warning in Revelation 22:19, “If anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.”

Hell is mentioned 167 times in the Bible, sometimes called Gehenna, Hades, the pit, the Abyss, or everlasting punishment (Proverbs 7:27; Luke 8:31; 10:15; 2 Thessalonians 1:9). Jesus spoke of heaven and hell as real places (Matthew 13:41–42; 23:33; Mark 9:43–47; Luke 12:5). The story Jesus told about the rich man and Lazarus was an actual event that demonstrated the reality of the two eternal destinations (Luke 16:19–31). Heaven is the dwelling place of God (2 Chronicles 30:27) where Jesus has gone to “prepare a place” for those who love Him (John 14:2). Hell was created for “the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41). But because every human being is a sinner, every person past the age of accountability has already been condemned to hell (Romans 3:10; 5:12; John 3:18). We all deserve hell as the just punishment for our rebellion against God (Romans 6:23).

Jesus was clear that “no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again” (John 3:3). He was also clear that hell is an eternal punishment for those who do not obey Him (Matthew 25:46). Second Thessalonians 1:8–9 says that in the end God “will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.” John the Baptist said about Jesus, “His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire” (Matthew 3:12).

John 3:18 explains in the simplest terms who will go to heaven and who will go to hell: “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” So, those who go to hell are specifically those who do not believe in Jesus’ name. To “believe” goes beyond a mental recognition of the truth. To believe in Christ for salvation requires a transfer of allegiance. We stop worshiping ourselves, we forsake our sin, and we begin to worship God with our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Matthew 22:36–37; Mark 12:30).

God desires that every person spend eternity with Him (Matthew 18:14; 2 Peter 3:9), but He honors our free will (John 4:14). Anyone who so desires can go to heaven (John 1:12). Jesus already paid the price for our salvation, but we must accept that gift and transfer ownership of our lives to Him (Luke 9:23). Heaven is perfect, and God cannot take anyone there who insists on holding on to his or her sin. We must allow Him to cleanse us of our sin and make us righteous in His sight (2 Corinthians 5:21). John 1:10–12 shows us the problem and the solution: “He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”

We can choose to trust in Jesus’ payment for our sin, or we can choose to pay for our sins ourselves—but we must remember that the payment for our sin is eternity in hell. C. S. Lewis said it this way: “There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says in the end, ‘Thy will be done.’”

Who will go to hell?

This is from the website Got Questions (www.gotquestions.org) and it is great for beginners looking for any kind of answer about Christianity.

Though not a man of God, mine was as well. I was able to believe in and receive God's love very easily because He was an authority figure over me and disciplined me when needed. But He loved me and I knew it, so it was easy for me to believe in both coming judgment and heavenly reward from a Loving Heavenly Father.

Question: "Why does God send people to hell?"

Answer:
The Bible says that God created hell for Satan and the wicked angels who rebelled against Him, but there are people in hell also (Matthew 25:41). Both angelic beings and human beings are in hell for the same reason, sin (Romans 6:23).

Because God is completely righteous and morally perfect (Psalm 18:30), He always does what is right—there is no “darkness” in God, not the smallest speck of imperfection (1 John 1:5). God Himself is the standard for what is right, good, and moral. If it were not for God being the standard of moral perfection, created beings would have nothing to measure themselves against. In other words, if God is perfectly righteous, then anything that falls short of said perfection is sinful, and every human being who has ever lived, since Adam’s fall from grace, has committed sin (Romans 3:23). Because Adam sinned, the entire human race now has a sinful nature (Romans 5:12). But people do not go to hell because of Adam’s sin; they go to hell because of their own sin, which they freely choose (James 1:13–16).

Since God is eternal, immutable, and infinite, and all sins are fundamentally against God, God has decreed the just punishment for sin must also be eternal (Matthew 25:46). There is another aspect to consider, which is that God also created people to live eternally. So when someone commits a sin against another person, the offended person has also been eternally wronged.

God, therefore, has deemed all who commit sin will go to hell because they have failed to meet His righteous standard; they have broken His Law of moral perfection. If God did not send people to hell for breaking His laws, it could be said that God is not just (Psalm 7:11). A good analogy is a court of law with a judge and a lawbreaker. A just judge will always convict the person who has been found guilty. If that judge did not pursue justice for the crime, he would not be a just judge (Deuteronomy 32:4).

However, the good news is that God is also merciful. In His rich mercy, He made a way for sinners to avoid the punishment of hell by trusting in the atoning work of His Son, Jesus Christ (Mark 16:16). For Christians, the penalty of sin has been removed and placed upon Christ on the cross (1 Peter 2:24). Because of the sacrifice of Christ, God is still just—the sin is punished—yet He is also merciful to all who believe.

Why does God send people to hell?

Every since I renewed my faith in God and Jesus, I can't stop thinking about it. I also can't stop thinking about everyone else either and about how they are likely going to hell. Am I alone in this?

Greetings @Jesus4Ever
Not at all, I know my future is intact AND I AM NOT going to do anything to push the Holy Spirit Away.

However I do have this hurt inside me for the lost and many who think they are good and heaven bound. I mean it's big.

In fact the other day I was walking to the store and watching all this traffic driving by and all caught up in their lives and I felt the Lord Speak to me.
He likened the line to hell like the line of traffic. All these people with no thought about Eternity on a fast straight path to hell and don't GRASP IT.

Could not stop the tears.
Sad part is that it does not matter what any of us thinks or feels about hell, it's Real and nothing will change that. Other then do our best to bring the light to a dark world.

If you are born again then you should have Zero Fear about death.
Blessings

For once in my life, I am finally not worried about it for myself...now all I need do is stay afloat..

As to my concerns about others, I think it's a lot like thinking of, or being afraid of death, most of us just kind of put it out of our mind and live on for today. Those who obsess, I'm sorry, and I don't envy you.

If one of the people obsessing and unsure in this thread are not sure where they are going, I'd get down on my knees right now and reconfirm my commitment to belief in Christ and that His blood paid my sin debt in full.

I have no fear of going to hell, because Jesus promise is that I will be with Him forever. No fear at all.

While that is a great thought and idea.... For some who are anxious about it, will need to put their helmet of salvation on, and the rest of their armour. And will have to begin to take every anxious thought captive and immerse themselves in the Word to renew their minds to the truth and peace of God's love for them.

Thank You for the reminder and the added extra posts from the web. They are definitely reassuring :)

The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes;
27 When your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress
and anguish comes upon you.
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
Proverbs 16:6
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is

Matthew 10:28
43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than
having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

The one about laughing at your calamity scares me. Like when you get fear and seek God early, He might laugh at your despair? You call and He ignores you?

There is no Scripture that says God laughs at us, whom are seeking Him. His heart is actually saddened when we are struggling. Much like Jesus weeping over Jerusalem because they were rejecting Him.

The verse he quoted is proverbs 1:26 And of you read above it a couple of verses it's about people who ignore God and want nothing to so with him. Not for a believer.

I was only sharing #1 to make sure they are saved and to know that God promises us in His Word that we are guaranteed salvation.

It's not that I want to be a downer, I just want them to seek their own hearts and make sure they are settled with God.
