Mark 6:17 - Divorce or Remain Faithful?

Mark 6:17 - For Herod himself had sent and laid hold of John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her.

I have a hypothetical question: If Herod had come to a place of repentance and turned to Christ, what would have been the scriptural pastoral advice to Herod regarding Herodias? Divorce her at once and return her to your brother; Or now that you have married her, remain faithful to her and apologize/repent to your brother?

Here are a couple more indirectly related scriptures below. I don’t have a clear answer on this, and so wanted to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

Duet 24:4 - then her former husband who divorced her must not take her back to be his wife after she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before the Lord, and you shall not bring sin on the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.

Matt 19:9 -And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery

Here is the problem with a situation like that... again hypothetically.... if the latter marriage which is really not Scriptural was done including an oath to God then even though the marriage shouldn't have happened... do you break an oath to God (sinning in the process) to right a previous sin? In simple terms, do we sin to right a sin?

It's actually quite simple. If Herod WERE to become a Christian, and repent, etc, etc, then Herod would have to let go of Herodias. Herodias was first married to Philip the brother right?

What is the meaning of repentance after all? To turn away from sin right?

If you know it is a sin, and continue in it, did you really repent?

I agree; well, and Paul says what ever 'state' - married or unmarried, that we are saved in, to generally not try to change.
