Just curious. Im 17 and kind of deciding the next step to take with my life. I am a born again and seeking to stay on the narrow path. I'm just about finishing school.. I don't think I want to go to university like everyone else.. there's not much I desire from the world. And plus the bible says in Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind. Also we are not supposed to love the world nor the things in it... I really hate the way this world works trying to get everyone into the system.. Can we not just trust God by living in faith that he'll supply our daily needs? Or is that just me being lazy on my part.. I just feel it's so wordly.. stuff the gentiles seek.. are we not meant to be the light of the world ? But then again I could just keep Jesus as the priority in my heart & it may be a good opportunity to spread the gospel to people I come across. I just don't want to be like the world & come off the narrow path.. I don't want a luxurious life anyway

God provides our daily needs by giving us the means to procure them. Jesus won't show up at your front door with a bag of groceries.

Bless you, stay true to you :)

The path that Jesus made is narrow but not impossible like some of us can make it out to be. Making it narrow for yourself is one thing but when others make it narrower for you, that's rough!
Stick close to the gospel in these next few years especially till you hit the 30's if you can it gets a little easier to navigate from there!

God bless you!

...or some sort of work with the less fortunate among us. That wouldn't require a college degree but would be Godly and very much needed.

Hi; it's good to be driven by abiding interest in the Scriptures and prayer and the regular fellowship of other with the same interests.

That being said, other ppl might have their subjective ideas about what you ought to like and dislike; and these ideas might not be based necessarily on the Scriptures but on their own arbitrary likes and dislikes. Romans 14 is a great chapter about Christian liberty.

John's First Epistle has as a major theme the idea of walking in the light as the Lord Jesus is in the light.

Of course. However, I got the impression from reading the post that he wanted to pursue an education without running the risk of being wordly.

Hi
You don't have to have all the answers yet. Take your time. Just remember, when the going gets tough, God will be there to help. Try to stay close, if you can. Good luck on your journey.

Lizy, welcome to Christian Forums. God bless you and keep you in His loving arms. May His Holy Spirit reveal your spiritual gifts to you; and lead you in your walk with Jesus so you shine the light of Christ in all that you do. May God's will be done. In that name of Jesus. Amen

Also we are not supposed to love the world nor the things in it.

This is a teaching in the Bible that many Christians either overlook or deliberately ignore.

Can we not just trust God by living in faith that he'll supply our daily needs? Or is that just me being lazy on my part..

No, you probably can't. Sorry for my pessimism but God often uses people to help His people but what if God runs out of good people to use? Sadly, it happens a lot out of the growing coldness of people, there's less and less people God can use

I don't think I want to go to university like everyone else..

I think you should go to the university.... The knowledge you gain is invaluable. You don't always have to use your degree to enrich yourself. You can still use that knowledge to make a difference while still living very modestly.

I took longer than most to mature then. I'm still figuring things out now. :)

Yeah I get that but I mean I don't think we have to go as far as the gentiles do to get what we need. They don't consider God at all.. thats why they work so hard depending on themselves . Small jobs perhaps can be enough ?

Paul tells us to learn to be content with a little or a lot.
If God blesses you with a well paid full time job I wouldn't snub it. Equally if He provided a part time with minimum wage I wouldn't complain (try not to anyway) or strike over it.
