Just looked at Amazon Prime Video and one of my choices was:
The Emerging Church and the Bono-Screwtape Connection
Why don't they attack the REAL threat to peace and prosperity in our world instead of a philanthropist and advocate for social justice?

Bono of the popular rock band U2 is viewed by many in the Emergent Church as their "prophet" and main icon. Bono has stated that his satanic stage personas were inspired by C.S. Lewis' "Screwtape Letters," but in what way and for what purpose? Learn why truth is sometimes stranger than fiction as we reveal the shocking truth behind what inspires this Emergent rocker.

I recommend "The Man in the High Castle". I subscribed to Amazon's streaming service just to watch that show, watched all 20 episodes that were available in 5 days and then cancelled. :) I really just wanted to see that show. I wasn't disappointed.

This post seems divisive and unedifying, prayers.

Funny, that's how I would describe the movie.

Instead, I recommend "The Gospel According to U2--" an "engaging and informative book examines the spirituality that drives U2, a band whose influence has spread far beyond music and whose songs encourage listeners to put their faith into action for the sake of the poor and marginalized."

With so many people, especially the powerful, hyperfocused on greed and personal gain, no wonder why youth are inspired by someone who puts his faith into action for the poor and marginalized.

It's not the first time that U2 have been attacked in this manner. There are actually many webpages and crazy people who attack Bono in particular. IMO, they attack him because he is immensely rich, was raised Christian, and yet holds liberal views. This isn't what he *should* be doing, in their eyes. They envy his wealth, beautiful wife and children, and high standing in the world and want to pull him down. Just think of those who make this kind of attack as envious little trolls, and ignore their viciousness.

I appreciate that many evangelicals do amazing amounts of good, but by attacking those who want to change the unjust structures that are the root causes of poverty, environmental degradation, and terrorism instead of working to change the structures themselves, they are settling for bandaids where major surgery is needed.

This does not surprise me at all.

All, I stand by my statements but did not realize this was posted to the liberal catholics group. I saw it on the recent posts section and thought it was for everyone. For that i do apologize. I just joined two days ago and am still learning the interface.

I don't find the OP to be that rare of thing. I spite of the claims of unity, I find that evangelicals aren't shy about feasting on each others bones. The book in the OP is just another example.

I would think that if evangelicals are going to be publishing stuff like this that they would be a little more open to criticism.

Imagine what it would be like if this Catholic ran around the boards shrieking anytime I found something critical of the Catholic Church. It's just a recipe for misery.

Evangelicals aren't a sacred cow and not beyond reproach.

Welcome to CF, David. I guess one of my pet peeves is when people who do tremendous good in the world--Bono, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Carter Center, etc. Are raked over the coals for not meeting conservative guidelines. They are trying to save lives, and do great things for God's people. I think we need to appreciate the good they do.

And I do appreciate the good all my local churches do...

Thank you for the kind words Fantine.

I understand what you mean, the left doesn't understand why the right doesn't want to help the poor via government intervention and the right doesn't understand how the left can compromise certain social issues. It really is difficult to find a political party that represents Christ fully in a two party only system.

Thanks for the welcome. :)
