Ok I'll go first

Positives - outreach ministries (we have a bunch), church bills, staff payroll.

Negative - Global Leadership Summit; you mean I can pay the late admittance fee of three hundred dollars, sit in my own church that I already help fund and watch a broadcast of mainstream pastors preach? Oh boy.

How do you see money being well spent in your church?

Where/How do you see it possibly not being well used?

Well spent - going back to the community ie food, shelter, clothes, housing, education, safe houses.

Not being well spent - building maintanance.

Positives:
-Outreach
-Expanding/fixing the building (because church is growing)
-VBS

Negative:
-Paying for events that shouldn't be paid for. For example our church had a "outreach" group for the youth. They would go to a poor part of Hawaii and build something for the community. Problem? It was like 12 kids... and all the parents wanted to go. So it cost the church ALOT. The parents should pay for themselves and their kids. And Hawaii..... really?

I will say though the money issue depends on your church. For example I'm fine with the church paying for the building repair/expansion. BUT only if the pastor isn't getting alot. I mean a pastor needs money to pay bills too. But if your at a church where your pastor is making like $100,000... then you shouldn't be paying for the church with our money. The pastor can take a price break. Our pastor I believe only gets like $15,000 a year. And he works on the side if I recall.

You prefer to worship in a dirty building with leaky roofs and peeling paint on the walls?

I prefer to worship in family homes than in mini impersonal towers of Babel.

Maybe we should return to the model of the "first church" which occurred quickly after Pentecost, the birthday of the "CHURCH"..The Body of Christ.

Acts of the Apostles 2 (NASB)
42 They were continually devoting themselves
to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship,
to the breaking of bread and
to prayer.

43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe;
and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles.
44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things "in common";(COMMUNE!)
45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.
46 Day by day
continuing with one mind in the temple, and
breaking bread from house to house,(fellowship)
they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart,
47 praising God and
having favor with all the people.
And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being SAVED.

Maybe we should return to the model of the "first church"

What !? That might
result
in
people being healed,
people being saved,
people serving Jesus,
people serving God,
people serving one another,
people getting along daily with one another,
people SEEING a difference in people serving God,
people being DRAWN to JESUS,
families being restored,
marriages being restored,
children learning what is right,
adults learning what is right,
teens learning what is right,
everyone learning what is right,
everyone learning
and experiencing God's Life,
everyone seeing and learning truth,
people walking as Jesus walked,
people living as Jesus says to,
people living in union with Jesus daily,
people having peace, joy and righteousness daily,
every day.
God's Gifts.

Postive: building maintenance, heating, cooling, staff.

Negative: none. They can do whatever they want with the money they receive.
Even if the pastor spends it gambling, buying beer and goes to strip clubs?

I think what I find negative is not building maintenance, as such, but what I might call unwise investment in buildings/church plant.

For example, I know churches which maintain tennis facilities. Now, I ask you, what does tennis have to do with the kingdom of God? Why can't that land be developed in ways which more directly serve the mission of the Church?

That's the sort of thing that tends to bother me.

Yes, I would see no fault and tell him to go and sin no more. Can't harbor negative thoughts in my body......God lives there.

So what do you call correction/reproofing? Because technically that is what you would be doing if you talked to the pastor about his habits. Which is what you should do as a christian.
