If the title is too obscure, it's in reference to this tweet:

I'm starting a thread to showcase particularly notable examples of political supporters suddenly discovering why their support was misplaced. A "told ya so" thread, if you will. Feel free to offer examples from any political persuasion.

Let the schadenfreude commence!

““[Trump] did say the good people would not be deported, the good people would be checked,” she explained.

Add one more person to the list of thousands who trusted Trump to their later sorrow.

To begin;
Trump supporter’s husband getting deported despite being a ‘model resident’
http://www.rawstory.com/2017/03/tru...ting-deported-despite-being-a-model-resident/
Trump did not say that good people would not be deported. He said that undocumented people would be deported and then they could apply for reentry. If they did not have criminal records, etc. they could come back but they would have to wait like everyone else. He did say that the ones with criminal records would be the first to go.
Then he said that maybe they would be able to come back more quickly if when they were vetted they passed the inspection.
Then he said.....
Were these people actually listening?

I voted for Rand Paul, yes I wrote him in. I liked his tax plan, which I felt was fair, and it paid off the debt in a reasonable amount of time. I read his ideas on several issues on his website before deciding.

Now I am beginning to wonder about his ideas for healthcare, I will have to wait and see. I do agree that if they are going to do anything they should scrap the ACA and put in something better, not try to fix ACA and just confuse the citizenry with their mumbo jumbo. I don't trust Ryan, never have.

In contrast to the healthcare fiasco, this story could be manufactured into a great publicity success for Trump. Move in, grant a presidential pardon, meet with this guy, shake his hand... and, hey presto, Trump the Saviour shows that he is a man of his word and a defender of the "good" people. No one would care about all the other deported... just see what Great and Glorious President Trump did for this poor wronged family.

I'm not sure that Trump cares enough to bother with such a story at all, but if some of his caretakers could sell it to him as a chance for a big crowd cheering him, we might still see such a propaganda coup.

There's no untruth in the thread. The point is that this lady believed something despite being told otherwise, and now regrets her decision. No one in the thread is claiming Trump said he wouldn't deport "good people ", or whatever. The point is to showcase people believing what they want, despite contrary evidence, and getting bitten by it.

Extremely similar but different story.

Pro-Trump town riled up after immigration officials arrest popular restaurant manager

"I think people need to do things the right way, follow the rules and obey the laws, and I firmly believe in that," Lori Barron, the owner of a beauty salon, told The New York Times. "But in the case of Carlos, I think he may have done more for the people here than this place has ever given him. I think it's absolutely terrible that he could be taken away."

It's almost as though ICE should prioritize deportations based on aspects of individual cases.

“I have lung cancer and it’s the dead of winter,” she remembers thinking. “What am I going to do?”

Help came in the form of a heating subsidy: money from the federal government, delivered by the Highland County Community Action Organization, a small nonprofit in rural southern Ohio, where Ms. Feltner lives.

Now, that program is on the chopping block. It is one of many cuts in President Trump’s new budget proposal that would inflict the deepest pain on the most vulnerable Americans — a great number of whom voted for him.

“I understand what he’s trying to do, but I think he’s just not stopping to think that there are people caught in the middle he is really going to hurt,” said Ms. Feltner, 57, who was a nurse for 25 years and voted for Mr. Trump. “He needs to make some concessions for that. I was a productive citizen. Don’t make me feel worthless now.”

Trump Budget Cuts

The only work he found afterward paid minimum wage. With a wife and 3-year-old daughter, he struggled to pay the bills. “I tried everywhere to get a job,” he said. “I mowed lawns. I cut weeds. I hauled trash.”

Last year, his mother texted him about a job in farming through a local nonprofit called the Coalfield Development Corporation, which is partially supported by the Appalachian Regional Commission. It pays him $11.50 an hour for 33 hours a week growing cucumbers and raising chickens and pigs. It also pays for him to attend community college six hours a week where he working toward an associate degree. His grade point average is 4.0.

“I never dreamed I’d be going back to school,” he said. “I love it. It’s amazing. College is totally different than high school. Back then I was young and I didn’t care.”
...
“I hate to see him cut us,”

But there's always the die-hards:

Another worker in the Coalfield Development jobs program is Tracy Spaulding, 19, the son of a longtime miner.

When asked what he thought about the proposed cut to the commission, he thought for a bit. “He ain’t pulled nothing on us yet,” he said.

Look s a lot like this poster is agreeing to that as a fact, so yes, I'd say the whole truth is not being displayed here.

Trump supporter’s husband getting deported despite being a ‘model resident’

So, was this husband an legal alien? If so, is an legal alien a model resident?

As far as the whole point being to showcase people believing what they want...you can believe what you want, but looks like just more of the usual Trump smear to me where the truth is bent at the very best.

Well, the facts are that this woman believed that because her husband was one of the "good ones", he wouldn't be deported. My sympathy for her is near zero. My sympathy for their children is quite high though, as they didn't do anything to deserve this.

I've got sympathy for both her, here husband, and the kids...it's just the constant posts here that only post the so-called bad, like in this case where it isn't necessarily, while the man is doing a lot of good. Then hiding behind this as the sole reason for posting (bashing).

Let it go already.

Well, just keep in mind that many of us don't think the man has really done any good.

Given Trump's habit of abusing people who were willing to trust him, and his habit of viciously attacking them after betraying their trust, I don't see why anyone would be willing to give him a chance.

He's quoting the article
