Hi, I dont have much time now but i can speak with you again about this. This game is 100% demonic, our whole family has suffered so much words cannot describe. My childrens friends who play this game also have same problems. Please get your friend to get rid of all minecraft immediately. Again i can give you more information shortly just have to go now but urgently wanted to let ye know.

I hope you can elaborate in detail your strong opinion clearly soon. Or was that a sarcastic/troll comment...? I can't tell. Like really if this game is 100% demonic to you then I'd hate to know how much of the rest of the world you view as demonic.

With fornication, children born of fornication do not inherit the blessings that legitimate children inherit.
This is an ignorant statement with no basis in fact. Just an opinion based upon nothing but the narrow view of your own little world.

The suicide funeral i attended, he was the firstborn son but i do suspect he was born out of wedlock and thus unwanted. They have a spirit of rejection from birth.
Another ignorant statement. How many suicides are committed by those you haven't condemned as "bastards"? I would venture to say just as many, if not more!

In any case, may Jesus bless you always.

I know I feel blessed after that.

In your list of all things evil, I think you forgot to mention wearing trousers and drinking apple juice. Oh, and smiling, or children's laughter, or kittens.

legitimate children

So in your world, there are children who aren't legitimate?

Perhaps we could stoke a fire and burn the bastards (technical term, not swearing)

I says this because the curse the bastard is a real curse. The suicide funeral i attended, he was the firstborn son but i do suspect he was born out of wedlock and thus unwanted. They have a spirit of rejection from birth.

These days its like the norm. Many children are born to parents out of fornication, lust, not a true Godly union. Therefore they are more prone to go the way of flesh not spirit. When people come to know Jesus he can wipe that curse away.

As someone who was born a 'bastard' this has been quite possibly the most idiotic thing I will read all day, if not all week.

I am asking this question in regards to a lady whose son loves this game. He has posters on his wall in his bedroom of this game. I have no clue at all if this game has evil intentions or good, it's hard to know these days. I tried looking it up on the internet and got various answers. Some are saying it's inviting evil spirits into their home and others seem to not be bothered by the game. So I am looking for "advice" as to anyone out there that may know for sure if this game can open doors to evil or not? Again, this is not my child and I am seeking answers for his mom. She has been dealing with terrible things happening in her home for 9 yrs and is trying to get to the root of the problem. Her daughter is suicidal and does self harm. The mother is deeply depressed and sometimes suicidal. The teenage boy is suicidal and the father sleeps in seperate bedroom from the wife and has for 9 years and the marriage is failing. Everyone there is always fearful and they only experience "some" relief when they are outside of the home. There is alot more detail to this story but I am trying to keep it brief. So any info about this game would help me, thank you.

Quick Question: Is this a Christian family?
The reason I ask is that no matter the fact that we have truth their standard for truth would differ from ours if they are not Christians. Our first response is to pray that the Lord would show Himself to them, whatever that would look like, and turn them to Himself. Anything that I say beyond this will not help them.

BUT: If they are Christians then what I have to say from now on applies to them.

I know what you mean. With regards to it being a cause of possibly questionable things happening at home, possibly, though definitely not necessarily.

What I do know is that I for a long time was a complete Computer Games Addict though for most of that time I didn't see it as an addiction and often I would justify my playing for hours on end by saying that I am able to meet up with friends. Whatever my excuse, it was like any other addiction, it alienated me from my family, it wasted time without giving me anything, or very little at best, in return, I couldn't think about anything else in my spare time and when I got home I always searched for that "high" I got the first time. I also wasted my parents money buying extras for the games, etc. etc.

I do know that most often I got depressed when I went in for hours because I was giving so much of me and receiving very little. With regards to games of that sort they are not inherently evil though honestly they do have an effect on our morals. Peeps who play first player shooting games or games which are very graphic tend to become desensitised to real life issues. The bible has much to say on the subject of magic, sorcerey, divination, mediums and whatnot and says that that is nothing short of the work of evil.
"And he burned his sons as an offering in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and used fortune-telling and omens and sorcery, and dealt with mediums and with necromancers. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger." 2 Chronicles 33:6
“When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord." Deuteronomy 18:9-12

We just need to be careful with regards to what we expose ourselves to but that is definitely not restricted to computer games, we see it everywhere. I found my life turned extremely better when He managed to break the addiction off of me. I don't have any drive to go to the computer for games and I am much the happier for it. I understand it isn't about me but I know my experiences can be helpful to others.

I think what you should consider doing is praying for the lady and her family. If anyone can help that family it is Him. All my family members are Christians but most of them still get bouts of depression. So depression is NOT the unforgivable sin neither is struggles in marriage or households. I urge everyone on here to commit to praying for this family. Jesus came up against a legion of Satan's toughest and they were all trembling and asking Him for permission to leave the man and enter a herd of pigs. Therefore if anyone can help this family it is Jesus Christ. Pray for them. Ultimately does Minecraft glorify God? No, so as to the words of Paul " "All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up. Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor." 1 Corinthians 10:23-24.
In other words, all things are permissible in terms of whatever you want to do, you can do it but not everything you do will be beneficial or constructive.

Just a thought or two.

I found the comment of the person who worked on the game quite valuable!

Anyway, here's my two cents. I've been struggling for quite a long time with what is and what isn't demonic. I think I've been possessed when I was young, but I don't know if it was because of fictional works. My sister, who can see demons, usually was not able to enter the room next to my bedroom, which was filled with movies many of which weren't Christian at all, because of the amount of demons there.
So, going by that, I'd say fiction and works of art (like games) can be dangerous. At the same time, I'm not sure I can trust said sister because she has/had borderline personality disorder (and maybe something else as well, I have no idea) and might have (unintentionally) made up memories.

In any case, knowing my background, and my scepticism, please consider my judgment on Minecraft and fiction in general.
For Minecraft specifically, I haven't found any 'evil' aspects. Yes, it contains some magic things, but they have nothing to do with demons. The magic just "is", there is no story behind it whatsoever. This may sound dangerous to some ("the normalization of magic") but I wouldn't say it is. The lack of a backstory behind it prevents the player from being deeply interested in the magical aspect of the game.
Also, I think the game might be good for creative development.
And, last point on Minecraft: I saw someone comment that a kid "developed" asperger's through this game. First off, Asperger's doesn't officially exist anymore but is now called Autism Spectrum Disorder, or ASD for short. Secondly, ASD is born, not something you *get*. Thirdly, implying that ASD is something inherently evil or wrong is something absolutely devastating to people with ASD. Fourthly, I found that people with ASD tend to be drawn to the computer, and to this game in general. The computer because it does exactly what you want and how you want it (full of logic), and Minecraft for the same reasons, but even more extreme. Minecraft is the pinnacle of logic and choosing what you want to do by yourself. (And, some people might argue that "doing what you want to do" is bad, but I wouldn't say it is. If you have the Holy Spirit, what you want to do will line up with what God wants you to do.)

As on fiction and art in general... I have found a very interesting example from my own life. I've been depressed for a long time, and I've struggled with faith for a long time as well - I'm still struggling with it, but way less than I used to.
I once read a book series. It was everything that people on this site seem to abhor: it had an incredible amount of swearing; extreme violence; religion was played off as naïve, egotistical and stupid; it was pro-violence; depicted sex out of marriage as normal; and, horror of horrors, the two main characters were two guys in a homosexual relationship, and a third almost-main character was of a non-binary gender and/or sex.
How can a book series like that possibly have a good influence on someone's life? I'm not getting into the specifics because once I start talking about this book series I never stop, but it suffices to say that this book series prevented me from committing suicide, and led me to think about things I otherwise never would have thought about, which eventually brought me back to God.
I have trouble with a black and white view of good and evil works of art. The book series I just described seems so clearly "evil", yet it had such a good influence on my life. It leads me to think that there's something to learn from every piece of art, and that none, or at least very few, are truly evil.
But, like I said in the first paragraph, I'm not 100% sure of this view yet, because of the thing with the demons. Nowadays I just decide whether something is good or bad by how it "feels", trusting on the sixth sense that I have a little. (My sister can see demons, I can feel them a little). And, in my view, Minecraft isn't bad.

I'd say that any game can become a problem if some becomes addicted to it. Inherently, I don't think it is a problem though. That's my opinion. I don't have a problem with Lord of the Rings - or Chronicles of Narnia. I don't see them as inherently bad. However, if someone becomes obsessed with them, it can become bad. It's the same concept with Minecraft.

That said, once we have kids, I plan to limit their gameplay to a reasonable amount of time. I've seen kids addicted to video and computer games, and I'd like to avoid that, especially when they are young.

I'd also say that very young children are extremely impressionable, so that should be considered as well.[/QUOTE/]

Just to say I agree with that wholeheartedly, and this might not apply to you, but just be careful not to exasperate them. One thing you might consider doing though is just not have computers around except where absolutely necessary and as far as possible remove games from them. I grew up in a house where we didn't have TV, a conscious decision by my parents, and now I have very little desire to watch TV except maybe where there is cricket or rugby. Not having it in their lives plus always wanting to spend time with them and filling up "empty" portions of time with a good family time or reading a book together or getting them practical things to do that are fun like lego, mecano (pretty much like metal lego using it to build structures and motorised machinery) and maybe it will have the desired effect. And always pray for them, pray pray pray. It will not hurt to pray for them.

Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen."

I would like to say here that "magic" isn't a sin. Believing that magic is real is a sin. Specifically it's blasphemy for suggesting that humans can manipulate reality like God. You can read a story that has themes of magic and even demonic pacts without it being sinful. Faustus was written by a Christian over four hundred years ago, after all.

The sin comes when you attempt to use magic or make demonic pacts of your own.

I appreciate what you have said buddy. Having experiences like that couldn't have been easy. And you are right. I know for myself where I am studying I see young people, smoking, swearing, talking about sex so explicitly, making fun of serious issues etc. and I look at them it is burdens me to see them so lost. I am not drawn into that lifestyle at all, but seeing them so lost and unable to change makes my heart heavy. And concerning minecraft, it can be useful for people who like construction and doing things the way want.
Having said that, reading a series of books like that while permissible is not the guideline for a Christian. What God did for you in that case, which is good in that it brought you back to reality and helped you back on your feet, isn't the way He normally helps us. He normally uses His word to guide us, though sometimes and we see in the Bible, he will use extraordinary means to wake us up to reality.
I hope in all that I wasn't offensive or rude, it wasn't my intention.
Just my 1 cent.
Keep strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

Correct.

It's worth noting that while popular imagination would suggest that the middle ages involved witches being hunted down by Christians all over Europe that wasn't the case at all. The reality is that during the middle ages witch hunting, and belief in witches, was regarded as superstition, heresy, and condemned by the Church. Charlemagne for example specifically instituted laws which forbade hunting witches, the position of the Church was that belief in witches and witchcraft was heretical and blasphemous as it attributed to the devil a kind of power which only God could have. In the 14th century the writing of the Malleus Maleficarum ('The Witch's Hammer") was specifically written in order to try and argue that witches and witchcraft existed, and it wasn't heretical. Virtually all witch hunts happened not in the middle ages, but in the early modern age, and by Protestants, not Catholics (e.g. the Salem Witch Trials).

Belief in witches was a pagan belief, a remnant superstition from Northern Europeans after their conversion to Christianity; which is why the Church condemned belief in witches and witchcraft, and both the Church and civil governments condemned the hunting of witches.

So the modern "witch fear" or fear of "magic" is largely a modern superstition rooted in a pagan superstition; and something regarded as heretical and blasphemous in previous centuries.

The Christian faith asserts that Jesus Christ, by His death and resurrection, has defeated the devil and triumphed over hell; the fear of the devil is fundamentally un-Christian, the belief that devils are under every rock, and that any thing at any given moment is going to drag us down to hell or snare us to Satan is to believe that the devil is more powerful than Christ, it is to be faithless, to forget the victory we have in Jesus who has conquered over the powers of this fallen world.

The devil is defeated, a dog bound and chained, whose bark may be loud, but who we have no reason to fear; indeed we are told, "Resist the devil, and he will flee". The devil may be like a roaring lion, but a toothless cat who has lost his bite, his power, and his authority is all bluster.

In the most famous Lutheran hymn we sing, "One little word shall fell him." The little word is Christ and His Gospel, for our God is mighty, our strong tower and our defense, a bulwark never failing.

"And though this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers,
No thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Through Him who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God’s truth abideth still,

His Kingdom is forever."

Thanks for your reply. ^^
I'm not sure how you got to the topic of "that lifestyle", but I partially agree with you. The things I said about the book series were the things that people here generally abhor, not something I personally abhor. I can even tolerate and appreciate swearing in some cases, as well as making fun of serious issues (if it's a way to cope). But generally, I just love people while staying true to the kind of life I live, even if my lifestyle doesn't at all match up with theirs. I don't really mind what personal choices other people make, since it's their choice; though if they ask me about it, I'll be happy to explain my own life choices, which might lead them to new insights.
Plus, my tolerance and perhaps even apathy* towards "that lifestyle" might have something to do with the fact that I've become discontent with the Christian religion, which has been highly destructive to the world and the people living in it. I feel like we Christians can't take out the speck of our brother's eye, when we fail to see the plank in our own.

*I feel apathetic towards the "sin of man": I don't judge other people for their personal choices. However, I'm not apathetic towards (non-personal) social aspects, such as the sexualization of just about everything, the broad acceptance for getting drunk on the regular, etc.

Though the book series I mentioned was just an example, I feel the need to defend it a little. It wasn't a 'miracle', the writer's actual intentions were to make me think about topics I otherwise would not have thought about. It's not a coincidence that the books made me think about things God wanted me to think about: the intentions of God and the writer of the books were lined up from the very beginning. It funny you mention "waking up to reality", since that's exactly that was what the book was about. Waking up to a reality that contains bad things: violence, taking God's name in vain, sexual promiscuity, prostitution, naïveté, egoism. All these things need to be considered and thought about, and another person's (writer's) thoughts on it might help with it, even if they aren't correct. I don't think it's so easy as to say "this book contains bad things, so it's evil". I think everyone in this world has something good to offer, Christians and non-Christians alike.
In short, I wasn't waken up by extraordinary means, in my view.

I have posted on the Prayer Wall for others to help pray for this kid, his name is Josh. I got the frantic call from his mother yesterday, that he is in the hospital and stabbed himself 72 times. After I got off the phone with her, i went to check into his facebook page and found more disturbing things. I have all the answers needed for the game Minecraft (thank you) , but upon looking at the facebook found something called "Mother Russia Bleeds".....???? and what I could see from just a glimpse it appeared to not be a good game at all for this kid, so not to change the thread, because i dont want to post another, does anyone know about this game? And before everyone wants to tell me its not the problem, I will go ahead and agree with you, it is not the problem. But before I travel there to minister when he is released from the hospital, I want to know all that I need to know. So Mother Russia Bleeds......any info???

Sounds like this kid needs an experienced mental health professional, not a minister.

I disagree completely as doctors, medicines, counseling, therapy etc has not worked in 7 years. Its time to deal with the devil. This is a spiritual battle. Flesh no longer has anything to do with this. I guarantee that !!! I have seen first hand over and countless times people have said they need medicine, they need professional help etc. They get it, take meds, keep trying only to end up doing what they do and suffering. Just the other day in headline news a child who has been treated professionally decapitated his mothers head and walked calmly out the door. I say enough with the meds issue and the people sitting behind a desk saying here eat this cookie and call me in the morning. NOPE its not working anymore and mental health issues are on the rise drastically, its time for GOD to move on these peoples lives and put the devil OUT. Thank you for your opinion, but I agree to disagree, have a blessed day.

I'll pray for the family. The child must be seriously disturbed. I wouldn't look for outside sources like games, movies or a song to blame though, that can be dangerous thinking and lets people off for having free will and their own accountability.

I hope he will be alright, such a sad thing and for a child especially :(

If you've made up your mind about this, I'm no longer sure anyone in this thread has anything to offer you. You've already stated that the game (and the new one you mentioned) aren't the problem.

I'll be praying for the family.
Yes thank you, I found the answers needed. God Bless.

Don't get me wrong. I don't at all discount the need for Christ in this young man's life.

I do know one thing, though. You're not going to get any answers for this kid by looking for them on an internet forum. Looking through this thread, it seems like this young man has been living with a screwed up family his whole life. That's his issue. No parental guidance whatsoever. You're not going to be able to wave a magic bible wand and throw him some Jesus candy and suddenly fix his problems.

I've played this with my oby and while i don't see anything overtly evil with it. i can say i do have a strange sense that something is negative like a bad spiritual vibe with it. Personally i try to steer my boy away from video games as much as possible. its a tough battle.
