There are, however, people who listen to spirits.
If they are listening to the Holy Spirit they are said to have the gifts of prophecy or words of knowledge and wisdom.
If they are listening to other spirits, they are operating in the realm of divination which is expressly forbidden in the bible.
I agree.
There are definitely psychics and psionics with active "power." Some are for God some arent (on purpose, or in general.)
If someone is a Hebrew or Christian, or I would suspect even Muslim, it isn't a weird thing to be intuitive - even so much you were considered psychic by some.
I suspect many of the judges, priests and prophets of God were intuitive types, while many of the kings and mighty biblical heroes were extroverts. In fact, the king-priest relationship works like an extrovert-introvert "symbiosis."
I agree to this also.
And, I also made a mistake in my first post, using "intuitive," and "introvert" interchangibly. The introvert is the opposite end of the extrovert, but extroverts can be intuitive also (and, in fact there are two specific MBTI personality types with extroverted intuition.
I'm quoting this because Aryeh posted this clarification to what I quoted from him before/above.
Then my own contribution:
Imho, many people have that. "That" which is being called psychic, intuitive, words of knowledge, gifts of prophesy.
Even police detectives call it their 'gut feeling', which sometimes isn't based on much fact whatsoever, even at times none.
I've had 'knowledge' beforehand of many things, through just a flash of thought/knowledge, or a dream. And I'm thoroughly convinced that it was God guiding and protecting me. Because that's what always happened. It was for my own good or protection.
Honestly, if I had $1 for every time I've received knowledge/insight/intuitive fore-knowing or something of that nature, I'd retire... lol.
God is Good!, I tell you, and I do believe that He (through the Holy Spirit as is said) gives some words of knowledge, which others call intuition or psychic.
But honestly, the only 'psychics' that I've heard of are ones who sell their wares. And therefore, of soothsayers beware.
Those who are just like the friend in the OP's story, they, I thought, usually say they are 'intuitive', or having a 'word of knowledge'. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I know.
Sometimes mothers have 'intuition' towards their children, wives towards their husbands, husbands towards wives, friends towards friends, and as I mentioned even the police's 'gut feelings' ... these things have been around forever.
I believe that sometimes God wants us to know something and He shows it to us, somehow. Sometimes through intuition (as the OP's friend told her), or sometimes through dreams.
I believe Discernment is very Very important with things of this nature.
But yes, I do believe that God guides us, at times, through these types of 'personal miracles', as I see them to be.
Glory to God!
