With the speaking in tongues maybe the folks who dont know you that well were just eager to share the gift they received as well not aware you already had it.

Since the actual God's gift of tongues is manifested by the Holy Spirit, then it is really not dependent on the believer's eagerness to share the gift.

Since the gifts are to profit the body withal, then it will come with interpretation OR the Holy Spirit would just manifest the gift of prophesying which is edification in the language that I know. The Holy Spirit is not vainglorious when ministering to the saints; if the believers speaking in tongues speak in my language, then the Good Shepherd, the Son of God, would just lead the Holy Spirit in those "known tongue speakers" to prophesy ( edify ) plainly in the language that we both understand.

Since the Holy Spirit can manifest tongues to speak unto the people of another language, then the Holy Spirit can manifest edification through the same people without using tongues at all.

What the Holy Spirit will not do is: speak in tongues through that one person and then interpret that tongue through that same person, because 1 Corinthians 12th chapter says He does it severally, dividing as He wills.

If the whole point of manifesting is for our edification, then tongues will not be manifested when every one speaks the same language. That avoids the Holy Spirit looking vainglorious which He would never do that.

It is best to say that the subject of tongues has been abused, and exalted too much when the whole point of any manifestation of the Spirit is to profit the body withal in the knowledge of Him; and because there is a supernatural tongue in the world that is just babbling nonsense, it is best we test the spirits with the help of our Good Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ at that throne of grace and discern the words that these saved believers are saying when promoting another receiving of the Holy Spirit so other believers can get that "tongue" for this is the falling away of the faith spoken of.

They are still saved but not abiding in Him nor doing His will when allowing this tongue to interrupt them when they are praying normally or any other times when it profits no one and gives the appearance of evil as this happens even to non believers in the world..

I think its grieves the holy spirit when we dont believe in him, thats prolly the most hurtful thing. It was for Jesus.

I believe in the Holy Spirit and what God's actual gift of tongues is.

We have scripture for our discernment where Jesus at that throne of grace can help us to test the spirits by His words and know what is not the Holy Spirit and what is not God's actual gift of tongue. So trust Jesus Christ today to help you discern and understand what is of Him and what is not of Him by the scripture given earlier in this thread for discernment.

Since we ALL sin ALL the time, more or less, we are grieving him ALL the time.
This is true,
until someone becomes saved/ a new creation/ a heart after GOD like KING DAVID.

Don't listen to anyone who told you that.
INstead, read the NEW TESTAMENT all the way thru
and see
how the believers in the NEW TESTAMENT ACTUALLY LIVED (NOT AT ALL SINNING DAILY).

Also, see that they lived daily, every day, FULL OF PEACE< JOY< RIGHTEOUSNESS AND THE holy SPIRIT. EVERY DAY. Not once in a while. Not one or two days a week.

EVERY DAY.

"IN UNION" not with satan, anymore, but with Y'SHUA(JESUS).

SEE THIS IN SCRIPTURE. (prayerfully asking the FATHER YHWH HIMSELF FOR HIS UNDERSTANDING AND WISDOM).

See this in Scripture. It is true (in Scripture);

it is NOT TRUE, in the ones you have in the past trusted (otherwise you would already know this).

First you should understand who the Holy Spirit is?

1. Power - Acts 1:8
2. Witness of Christ - 1:8
3. Speaks in languages of the land - Acts 2:1-12
4 He thinks and knows, He searches the depth of God's Spirit and everything - 1 Co 2:10-11
5 He can be grieved (this you know) Eph 4:30
6. He intercedes for us - Ro 8:26-27
7. He makes decisions according to His will - 1 co 12:7-11
8. He is a helper- Jn 14:16
9. He brings things to remembrances - Jn 14:26
10 He teaches us
11. He is the Spirit of Truth = Jn 15:26

The word quench is used as suppressing a fire. The Holy Spirit is a fire dwelling in each believer. He wants to express Himself in our actions and attitudes.

To understand the grieving of the Holy Spirit, must understand that He has a personality.

We grieve Him by living like pagans Eph 4:17-19
Being angry - 26:27
Stealing - 26:28
cursing - 26:29
being bitter - 4:31
being unforgiving 4:32
Sexually immoral - 5: 3-5
Tempting the Holy Ghost - Acts 5

To grieve the Holy Spirit is to act out in a sinful manners. Whether it be in thought or both thought and deed.

And there are consequences: Acts: 5:1-10

1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2 And kept back [part] of the price, his wife also being privy [to it], and brought a certain part, and laid [it] at the apostles' feet.
3 But Peter said , Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land? {to lie to: or, to deceive}
4 Whiles it remained , was it not thine own ? and after it was sold , was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down , and gave up the ghost : and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6 And the young men arose , wound him up , and carried [him] out , and buried [him].
7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done , came in .
8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said , Yea, for so much.
9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold , the feet of them which have buried thy husband [are] at the door, and shall carry thee out .
10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost : and the young men came in , and found her dead, and, carrying [her] forth , buried [her] by her husband.

The bible says forgiveness is available for anything that is committed when asked with remorse. Except, the only things it seems man cannot recover from it blaspheming against the Holy Spirit.

This may have to do with the very nature of the Holy Spirit which is gentle, a counselor and availability, not forceful, demanding or insistent to God's will.

When we 'curse' the Holy Spirit there may be a spiritual reaction that prevents the Holy Spirit accessing our spirit. It's like having someone in our corner helping us, defending us but when we destroy that relationship and replace it with the wrong crowd, then it becomes hard for the right influences to come back, because our thinking is so debase, it will be of no effect.

God is trying to keep the doors open as a mediator would, before its too late.

Why then did a man after YHWH'S OWN HEART - a man of faith,
pray "don't take THY holy SPIRIT" from me ? (paraphrased; perhaps "the holy SPIRIT")
Maybe he was just speaking from fear..I know I say a lot of things when I fear..show me where it says the holy spirit leaves in scripture

This will take time, YHWH Willing.
There is much in SCRIPTURE that is misrepresented all over the world, in most religions and most families, on purpose, as it is written[prophecied] in SCRIPTURE,
... ...
We all grew up not being told the TRUTH. (yes, being taught falsehoods, everywhere)
(I haven't met anyone from anywhere else , yet, who was raised right[at home] and says so - no one says they were raised right[at home] anyway, when questioned long enough to find out (not a lot of people EVER ASK, or even EVER TALK ABOUT THIS) ) ...

First you should understand who the Holy Spirit is?

6. He intercedes for us - Ro 8:26-27

The Holy Spirit intercedes for us INDIRECTLY because there is only One Mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5 The Holy Spirt cannot utter His own intercessions. He has them, but He cannot give them to the Father and thus they are "unspeakable".

This is why Jesus Who searches our hearts, Hebrews 4:12-16, is the One that knows the mind of the Spirit because The Son is the One that intercedes in according to the will of God.

Jesus gives our intercessions and the Spirit's intercessions to God the Father so that when He says "Yes" to any of those intercession, Jesus answers the prayer so that the Father may be glorified in the Son for answered prayers: John 14:13-14

The Holy Spirit cannot speak for Himself or speak on His own accord. John 16:13

Anything He hears, that He speaks ( John 16:14-15 as the words of the Father are now the Son's in glorifying the Son in being our Good Shepherd guiding us through the Holy Spirit in us. )

So the Holy Spirit will not take God's actual gift of tongue to speak unto the people and turn it around as a form of prayer language for Himself to use in "praying" back to God.

So the Holy Spirit does have intercessions, but He cannot utter His own intercessions or make them known to God the Father, because Jesus's job prohibits that from happening when the Father is glorified in the Son for answered prayers.

He intercedes for us "itself" as serving as a means for His intercessions to be made known by the Son knowing the mind of the Spirit's. He does not intercedes "Himself" because He can't do so by Himself. That is why "itself" was used in the KJV whereas in other parts of the KJV Bible, Him and He has been used in referring to the Holy Spirit. Itself was not used to mean a gender neutral when scripture refers to the Holy Spirit in most modern Bibles as a "He" or "Him".

Anyway, I hope the Lord will cause the increase as to why I felt it necessary to clarify how the Holy Spirit intercedes for us as it is written in His words as kept in the KJV which all modern Bibles have overlooked in its meaning since modern bibles version of John 16:13 is contrary and exposes their mistranslation of the actual meaning in Roman 8:26-27.

The truths in the scripture all lines up in the KJV in defense of the faith in these latter days; modern Bibles cannot make that claim, but only Jesus can help you see the truth in His words to see which Bible is in line with the faith in exposing apostasy in these latter days where they would preach another receiving of the Holy Spirit with evidence of tongues and try to justify using tongues as a form of prayer language citing modern Bible versions of Romans 8:26-27 when their John 16:13 says the Holy Spirit cannot use God's gift of tongues in that way, and therefore that tongue is not of Him nor is this other calling to receive the Holy Spirit "again".

Y'SHUA IS AS IS YHWH, HOLY.
ETERNAL ELOHIM(GOD),
WHO said "MY WORDS ARE SPIRIT, and THEY ARE LIFE".

Jesus was testifying to reprove the notion that His disciples were to eat His body to receive eternal life. He was lifting their sights higher from the literal to the spiritual of what He was saying on how they would be saved, by believing in Him.

Earlier, Jesus had told the Pharisees and every one that was hearing Him ( but not listening ) how to receive the bread of life which comes down from Heaven to give life to the world and that was by coming to & believing in Jesus Christ ( John 6:30-36 ) but after telling them that, He said why they had not received; because they did not believe in Him. They were stuck in the mindset of receiving actual bread to eat regardless of how many times Jesus said this was not the case, until in ??sarcasm?? He spoke of the eating because they refuse to believe in Him and the coming sacrifice He would make to save them.

Now, is the Holy Spirit One or many? Then "My words are spirit, and they are life" is not referring to the Holy Spirit.

And WHO IS "LIFE GIVING SPIRIT", as written in SCRIPTURE.

Check the King James Version of that verse and you will see that spirit is small "s". This is deferring from the Person of the Holy Spirit to the spirit of His words; not the letter or the literal law of His words.

2 Corinthians 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. 4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

The Holy Spirit is life ( Romans 8:10 ), but Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit at salvation and thus as we receive the Holy Spirit, we have received eternal life by faith in Jesus Christ. So Who gives us life? Who would the Holy Spirit Himself give that glory to?

Jesus, the Son of God. ALL modern Bibles testify to that; John 6:30-35

And the Holy Spirit seeks to glorify the Son ( John 16:13-14 )

It is by coming to Jesus, we have life. Scriptures testifies to only Him for life; John 5:39-40

I read KJV I understand that other people read different versions so might have a slightly different way of translating things when it really means the same thing.

There is something about going to Jesus not just the letter. Jesus says I will never leave you nor foraske you but an unsaved person CAN grieve the holy spirit so that He won't dwell in them. Or want to dwell in them.
