How can you tell where science ends and the Bible picks up?
Science ends when it comes to spiritual questions. Such things cannot be detected by instruments and so are beyond the realms of science.

How can you tell where science ends and the Bible picks up?

That's like looking at a cookie and asking "how can you tell where the eggs end and the flower begins?"

Science is the study of creation. When we engage in Science we are "reading the book" of creation. Creation is, in an important sense, the word of God. And our study of creation can cast great light on our understanding of Scripture.

Scripture is also the word of God and it's not telling a different story from creation. But because of sin we have a great tendency to misinterpret the book of nature and so we need the book of Scripture to help us interpret creation correctly.

Without science we won't properly understand Scripture. How can you understand the parable of the leaven if you know nothing about leaven?

Without Scripture we will misunderstand and misinterpret the created world.

Hello AV.

Science does not end, science was never in the race to begin with. Science is
mankind's attempt to understand present phenomenon using observational
criteria. Science is not on a quest to find the truth, science is all about empirical
knowledge and providing explanations of phenomenon. Science may never
arrive at a complete explanation of the universe and it's origin. The complexity
of science is increasing over time, understanding modern science is a
daunting prospect. Some scientific theories it seems, are even beyond human
comprehension (quantum theory). If you want the truth, science is not the
place to seek the truth.

The Bible on the other hand, contains a very simple truth, the death and
resurrection of the Christ. This revelation is contained in the Old Testament
prophecies, then powerfully fulfilled in the New Testament accounts.

You can omit the first four gospels of the New Testament as being unreliable,
if you wish. Then still reconstruct the truth, the death and resurrection of the
Christ, purely from Paul's two letters, Galatians and 1 Corinthians. The integrity
of some of Paul's letters are not doubted even by scholars. So no matter which
approach you adopt, the death and the resurrection of the Christ, will always
remain the truth.

God has forced His way into mankind's history, with the death and resurrection
of Jesus Christ. Mankind is not interested in the truth, so mankind will seek every
way to undermine that truth.

Truth arises from revelation, truth is not an intellectual construction. The Bible
contains this revelation in detail.

Why limit it to present phenomena?

Does Newtonian mechanics not do a passable job in telling us where a projectile will land?
Hello Durangodawood.

Imagine Newton’s and Kepler’s dismay if they could have read the July 3 issue of the journal
Science this year. In it Gerald Sussman and Jack Wisdom, a computer scientist and an astronomer,
respectively, at MIT, announced that the entire solar system is unpredictable. Without an infinitely
precise knowledge of the location and velocity of the planets
at any given moment, our Newtonian
calculations will be completely wrong after a mere 4 million years.

Depends how accurate you would like to be, regarding the projectile's path.

Hello ToL.

You may need to fully understand science first, that seems to be where the
real problems are.

AFAIK, most scientists are blithely unaware of the bible, thus abitrary "lines" are the inventions of creationist needing to protect their beliefs.
Hello HS.

There is one defined belief in the scripture, the belief in the death and resurrection
of Jesus Christ. As for a chronology of Genesis, not necessary.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.

Hello HS.

We are reconciled to God by believing in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Where many become confused HS, is in not understanding what the scripture is
all about. The simple truth of the scripture is the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, the absolute truth of the scripture.

Though it is such a foolish message, God has decided to use this simple message.
A line in the sand, the difference between death and salvation. God is very, very clever,
God allows man to write some of the scripture. Then God slams the truth into the
scripture. God gives you ample room to find fault, except concerning the revelation
of His Son. He is so clever HS. That's the noose that will tighten around your neck,
concentrating on irrelevant areas of the scripture.

I do it myself at times, I need constantly to refocus on the Gospel, God's truth. A minister once told me that,
'the Bible is a terrifying, black book, that condemns humanity'. He was correct of course, God allowed
the book to come together in this form. Here a simple mistake, there a scrappy
account of the life of Jesus. Underneath the choppy surface of the Bible,
is the Gospel, the greatest news you will ever hear. God is cunning and
beautiful at the same time, I don't believe many in the end, will see
through the fog and discover the Christ.

OK.
But that leaves plenty of future (and past) that can be derived with useful precision. Same for the projectile.

To limit the applicability of scientific investigation to the present only is absurd.
