What grieves the holy spirit?

Greetings,

Thinking, saying, doing anything contrary to the revealed will of God, and / or failing to think, say, or do what we know / understand we should, according to the revealed will of God. Otherwise known as - sins of commision, and / or sins of omission.

If we are the offending one - pray / ask for forgiveness, and make appropriate amends (when possible). And seek the Lord for the wisdom, strength, and integrity to offend no more. Additionally utilize acts of charity, for charity we are told - 'covers a multitude of sins'. 1st Peter 4:8

But we cannot choose for others, ( a condition our individual free will ) but we can pray for them, show them (in as much as we are enabled) Christ's love, encouraging them in a godly way, and in some cases, admonish (or warn) them, or even reprove them [reprove means to point out the error(s) of another with kindness] and possibly (in extreme instances) rebuke them, (which is somewhat more stern ). Or perhaps, in the most extreme instances - censure them, which means to excommunicate, or have no more to do with them...until / unless they return unto us with evidence of genuine repentance. Like with the 'prodigal son'. ( Luke 15:11-32 )

The above options are usually applied in an ascending order of intensity with regards to how forceful our response / reaction may be...generally we are to begin with the mildest, most easily entreated, and exercise patience, not jumping to sharp rebukes, or censuring; a great guide is the golden rule, which is relatively easy to apply if we 'put ourselves in the others' shoes, and consider that we could be them, and they could be us...for none of us has designed or predetermined our life and placement therein. And of course when / if a mild conveyance succeeds in having good effect, there no need to escalate, but rather give thanks and praise to our loving, longsuffering God.

Knowing which is apropos is something for which we rely on the Holy Spirit's leading ( when things are going right ).

May The Lord Be Pleased.

P.S. Another consideration is - if others' bad behavior is dragging us down spiritually, we should avoid them, not for their sakes, but for our's.

To forgive them? What if its unforgiveable?
The FATHER in HEAVEN will not tell you to pray for someone for forgiveness
unless HE HIMSELF DESIRES TO FORGIVE THEM,
or WANTS TO TELL YOU FOR HIS GOOD PLEASURE (HE doesn't need a reason)
like a test of faith, or to see if you will obey, or for no reason at all.

Ephesians says let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: and be ye kind to one another, tenderhearted, even as God for christ's sake hath forgiven you.

What is clamour?
Also, i suppose thats where the phrase 'for christ's sake!' Comes from.

Well thessalonians says quench not the holy spirit (in kjv) despise not prophesyings. Prove all things, hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Yes.
So, from just this one reference,
it grieves YHWH'S SPIRIT to
(1) quench the holy spirit,
(2) to despise [true] prophesyings,
(3) to NOT prove anything (exact contrast/opposite of prove all things),
(4) to NOT hold fast that which is good (holding fast instead to that which is false),
and (5) to appear to do or approve of evil (instead of abstaining from ALL appearance of evil).

Can you find someplace on earth that does not do most of these things ?

Yes. The GOOD. Where ? Where are ecclesia laying down their lives for one another, considering the needs of others as more important than their own ?

Eph 4:29-30 KJV
(29) Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
(30) And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

verse 30 begins with the word 'and', indicating it is part of the same sentence as verse 29: verse 29 tells us what grieves the Holy Spirit. the verse designations were inserted by the translators, and punctuation was often added by them as well; so it actually is to be read like this:

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers; and grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

it's important to remember that Jesus called the Holy Spirit 'another comforter' (John 14:16), or 'one like Himself' - and Jesus was seldom grieved, but was 'anointed with the oil of gladness above His fellows' (Heb 1:9). allowing oneself to vent and rage ('corrupt communication') on someone else to make them feel bad ('that which is bad to the use of condemning') out of a selfish desire for judgment (rather a self-less desire for grace) is what grieves the Holy Spirit, because He is all about us being joyful.

Is that an answer ? "the hospital"...?
It's as far as I know not correct. (except for the few who are living exceptions, different from the rest)
Know, or don't know,
always seeking the TRUTH, YHWH'S KINGDOM, YHWH'S TRUTH,
wherever I AM permitted to.

The orphanage. School?

I dont know about the hospital. They kill a lot of people there with drugs.
Right, and most (that I've ever seen or heard of) orphanages and schools are for profit (not concerned with anyone's best interests/ health/ well-being except as the money calls for it). Again, with the few living exceptions when there are any.
