I feel like this is a very important question to ask... I've been baptized and saved back in 2010.. But

I always had trouble hearing Gods voice and being led by the spirit...when i was in church, it was like everyone could do it but me..id always wonder what's wrong with me?

But I've tried in the past to hear and be led but nothing came of it-- in fact my relationship with God seems one sided and I dont know why...ive tried on my end...i feel like I cant force god to do something or anything really...

So I'm just wondering if God will hold I against me for not hearing or being led...even though I've tried.

Even now when I pray I dont feel anything, I feel like I'm doing this wrong...please help :(

Hi Far Side...
The best way to HEAR God is to READ HIS WORD and let him speak to you . The Holy Spirit is always speaking to us....it is our responsibility to hear....
You sound like you are serious about hearing his voice .... just remember it is NEVER God's fault when we cannot hear...
If you are serious make sure you read the statements by Jesus about the parable of the sower....That parable is really about LISTENING....ITS ALL ABOUT LISTENING and RECEIVING God's Word AND ABOUT THE THINGS THAT PREVENT US FROM HEARING.... Its found in Matthew 13:1-23

God Bless....I'm praying for your ears to be opened in Jesus name.

YHWH'S WORD for young and old [Christian] is Delightful and Enlightening and Helpful:
Here's a small part :
Behold what exotic [foreign to the human heart] love
the Father has permanently bestowed upon us, to the end
that we may be named children [born-ones, bairns] of
God. And we are. On this account the world does not
have an experiential knowledge of us, because it has not
come into an experiential knowledge of Him. Divinely
loved ones, now born-ones of God we are. And not yet has
it been made visible what we shall be. We know absolutely
that whenever it is made visible, like ones to Him we shall
be, because we shall see Him just as He is. And every-
one who has this hope continually set on Him is con-
stately purifying himself just as that One is pure.

Everyone who habitually commits sin, also habitually
combusts lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. And you
know absolutely that that One was manifested in order
that He might take away our sins; and sin in Him does
not exist. Everyone who in Him is constantly abiding is
not habitually sinning. Everyone who is constantly sin-
ning has not with discernment sen Him, nor has he
known Him, with the result that that condition is true of
him at present. Little born-ones, stop allowing anyone to
be leading you astray. The one who habitually does
righteousness is righteous, just as that One is righteous.
The one who is habitually committing sin is out of the
devil as a source, because from the beginning the devil
has been sinning. For this purpose there was manifested
the Son of God, in order that He might bring to naught
the worlds of the devil.

Everyone who has been born out of God with the
present result that he is a born-one of God does not
habitually commit sin because His seed remains in him.
And he is not able habitually to sin, because out of God
he has been born with the present result that he is a
born-one of God. In this is apparent who are the born-
ones of God and the born-ones of the devil. Everyone
who is not habitually doing righteousness is not of God,
also the one who is not habitually loving his brother
[Christian] with a divine and self-sacrificial love.

Because this is the message which you heard from the
beginning, namely, We should habitually be loving one
another with a divine and self-sacrificial love; not even
as Cain [who] was out of the Pernicious One, and killed
his brother by severing his jugular vein. And on what
account did he kill him? Because his works were perni-
cious and those of his brother righteous. Stop marveling,
brethren, if, as is the case, the world hates you. As for
us, we know absolutely that we have passed over per-
mannerly out of the death into the life, because we are
habitually loving the brethren with a divine and self-
sacrificial love. The one who is not habitually loving in
this manner is abiding in the sphere of the death. Every-
one who habitually is hating his brother [Christian] is a
manslayer. And you know absolutely that no manslayer
has life eternal abiding in him.

In this we have come to know by experience the afore-
mentioned love, because that One on behalf of us laid
down His soul. And, as for us, we have a moral obliga-
tion on behalf of our brethren to lay down our souls.
But whoever has as a constant possession the necessities
of life, and deliberately keeps on contemplating his brother
constantly having need, and snaps shut his heart from
him, how is it possible that the love of God is abiding
in him? Litlle born-ones, let us not be loving in the sphere
of word, nor even in the sphere of the tongue, but in
the sphere of deed and truth. In this we shall know
experientially that we are out of the truth, and in His
presence shall tranquilize our hearts in whatever our
hearts condemn us, because greater is God than our
hearts and knows all things. Divinely loved ones, if our
hearts are not condemning us, a fearless confidence we
constantly have facing God the Father, and whatever we
are habitually asking we keep on receiving from Him,
because His commandments we are habitually keeping
with solicitous care, and the things which are pleasing in
His penetrating gaze we are habitually doing.

And this is His commandment, namely, We should
believe the Name of His Son Jesus Christ, and be habit-
ually loving one another even as He gave a commandment
to us. And the one who as a habit of life exercises a
solicitous care in keeping His commandments, in Him is
abiding, and He himself is abiding in him. And in this
we know experientially that He is abiding in us, from the
Spirit as a source whom He gave to us.

thank you :) ... Its gonna be a battle with my anxiety... And I feel my anxiety is what is holding me back...

BC if I can be a bit honest, As I was typing my reply ( a different one-- I started to say ," I feel I can't get God to do or make him do something He doesn't want to do) I feel I heard Him say, " I'm willing" ...So I think that's him..

And of course, my anxiety just churned out thoughts of being crazy and not wanted to be crazy...so yeah..its me not God...

I have to get my anxiety under control...bc God is willing : p I'm the nervous one.

How difficult this is IMO depends on the kind of people you are around or hear about. Anyone participating in Internet society has the potential to learn about anything, most of which has nothing whatsoever to do with a given individual.

God will definitely not hold it against you. It is impossible. He has given you an opportunity for greater faith than for those that do hear his voice. God doesn't just speak to us perceptibly. He also speaks through our mind's logic, experiences and the wisdom that comes through those—and through the words of children, adults, and sinners. Watch for people saying things that ring true when examined through the lens of Scripture. (Be aware that Truth administered at the wrong time or inappropriately toward a certain circumstance can have the effect of lies.)

Concerning your "anxiety" , Scripture says: " He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee (God)" .

"Jesus said: "My PEACE I give unto you, not as the world gives, give I unto you...Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid".
Be blessed....

Could be you are the only honest one in the crowd, and that's nothing to be sad about....but quite to the contrary.

As mentioned, God speaks through the bible and he never guaranteed he'd talk directly to anyone.

I think a lot of Christians have a bad habit of saying things like "God told me today" etc.. It sometimes feels like they use it as a phrase or something. And when you're surrounded by a lot of people who say that, you do feel that there's something wrong with you when you don't hear God talk to you like that. Read the new testament. How often does it mention God speaking to anyone in words since Jesus rose from the dead? Yes, that's not all too many times, and while it does happen sometimes, it doesn't have to be anyones everyday life. There's noting wrong with you if you don't hear his verbal guidance.

If I were you I would read study the Bible and go to church regularly and pray of course. And for guidance, I would keep my eyes and ears wide open, because it might come in many shapes and forms, not just an audible voice. It might be something someone else says, something that comes across your mind, someting you see or read. And sometimes tings are simply what they look like: thoughts, words, actions, whatever. If another christian says God said something to them, it doesn't have to concern you. It could just their thought while they prayed. And it can be right or wrong for them, but it migt be just for them.

far side I don't know if this will make you feel more comfortable with God's voice but, you know that the word of God is Jesus and the bible is the word. It is not only God speaking with you but Jesus himself. I wouldn't put too much into I did not hear an audible voice, as you know God wants us to follow him by faith even though he sometimes speaks to people. A person that God doesn't speak to may have a greater faith than the one he does.

God speaks to everyone differently. For some they literally think they will hear His voice like in their room talking to them. Not that He couldn't do that of course. But for me its hard to explain. Its like a feeling comes over me. Just like when I respond sometimes this crazy good wisdom comes out of me that I would no way be able to come with. Even my spelling, grammar...etc is terrible. And yet the wisdom is perfect in that area too. Though thats more of him speaking through me.

I'll say (like the the person said) try not to feel to bad when you run across someone who says God tells them this and that and everything else. Sometimes its just themselves. Such as one person we know who is poor and in debt. Gold told her to buy a new car, buy a new house, buy a new everything. He also told her to her church, to cause problems and so on and so forth. >.>

Hearing voices and being led by the spirit? God holding it against you? You're not 'feeling' anything? What? With all due respect, I'd flee whatever church and theology you've been inundated with. It's sounds like fickle feelings with a dash of arbitrary divination going on, plus an angry and vengeful God, or something. That's not Christianity.
