8:13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!

In Revelation 8, John is shown the future as seven angels blow trumpets containing Gog's judgements upon the earth as the great tribulation had begun. The magnitude of the judgements are greater than anything in history.

The last three of the trumpets of the great tribulation were said to be three woes.

What is unique about those trumpets is all three involve rebellious angels.

1. Abaddon (who will be released by Satan, cast down as the third woe)
2. four angels bound by the Euphrates river
3. Satan and his angels cast down to earth.

Revelation, as it has been pointed out many times, is not totally in chronological order. Satan being cast down, woe to the inhabitants of the earth (Revelation 12:12), is actually seen in Revelation 9:1 as a star fall from heaven.

He opens the bottomless pit and Abaddon and the tormenting locust are freed. Why would it be that Satan frees those locust to torment men, knowing that they can't harm those who have the seal of God? Because when Satan is cast down, it is with great wrath, and he hates humans.

I presented this list in another thread. But it may help in sorting out the events when the Day of the Lord begins and moves into the great tribulation. I did not include the person becoming the Antichrist, and Gog/Magog; but those would come before the man of sin reveals himself. I may refine the list to include those.

(unpossessed at this stage, he has been the Antichrist King of Israel for about three years 4 months)

man of sin revealed, unexpectedly goes into the temple, sits, claims to have achieved God-hood
Jews are mortified reject him as continuing as their king
the Day of the Lord begins which the man of sin begins to persecute the Jews
God has the man of sin killed.

(moves to next phase, as the beast)

God in disdain for him brings him back to life - he becomes possessed by the beast ascending out of the bottomless pit
As the beast, he makes war on the two witnesses.
And the abomination of desolation image is set in the holy place

(the great tribulation begins)

The great tribulation begins, when the image is made of the beast, and placed in the temple.

(the trumpets are sounded, as the great tribulation begins)

The first four trumpet judgments of God rain down on the earth, as the Jews are fleeing into the mountains.
The two witnesses are killed and ascend.
The seventh trumpet blows and signals the war in heaven.
Satan and his angels cast down to earth. (woe to the inhabitors of the earth and sea)
Satan releases Abaddon and the locust from the bottomless pit and they torment men for 5 months (woe).
Satan incarnates the abomination of desolation image, making it appear to come to life.
Everyone has to take the mark, 666, or name of the beast - and worship the beast and his image
God's wrath is poured out on them who take the mark, name, or 666.... and on the beast's kingdom.
The bowl judgments in Revelation 16 of God's wrath
Near the end of the great tribulation the four angels are released (woe), and their army destroys a third of mankind
On their way to Armageddon.

How will the antichrist continue in authority for 42 months if the 3rd woe happens near the end of the great tribulation?

Revelation 12:12 New King James Version (NKJV)
Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”

Revelation 13:5 New King James Version (NKJV)
And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.

The 3rd woe, regarding Satan cast down to earth, does not happen at the end of the great tribulation. But just after the midpoint, after the two witnesses ascend, and the seventh trumpet blows.

As I stated, Revelation, in this case the chapters, are not always in chronological order. In the presentation given to John, it is woe 1, then woe 2, in the vision of the trumpets (six of them) in Revelation 8 and 9 ...... the seventh trumpet is in another vision in Revelation 11..... which woe 3 is yet in another vision, in Revelation 12.

Satan's being cast down for the time, times, half times - is within the 42 month period the beast rules.

Doug is getting closer to a competent rendering with his study of Revelation's unfolding .... still some adjustments to be made

Know that the first 6 trumpets will sound in tandem, one after the other in rapid fire fashion .... and all of these will set the staging for the tribulation to roll .... all of these stage setting events will come about at the same time at beginning of the tribulation

The first judgment will involve the destruction of the "great city" .... at the same time Satan [this one is the star that falls] and his fallen angels including his beast from the abyss will be on the earth and activated

This star [Satan] will also at the same time release his beast from the abyss, his abyss angels, and those bound at the Euphrates River [Revelation 9]

These events are layered and will all happen on the same first day of the tribulation .... and the effects of all of them will continue as the tribulation progresses

The destruction of the great city will trigger worldwide upheaval and disorder among the other cities of the nations on the earth [Revelation 8:6-12; 14:8; 17:16-18]

And the allowance of Satan to release and his fallen ones will bring their raging upon the earth throughout the tribulation period

The 7th trumpet will begin to blow toward the ending of the tribulation period which will involve the Lord's turning upon Satan's beast and his kingdom of followers to destroy them at the battle of Armageddon in the Middle East, and the cities of the nations will fall during the same time frame [30 days]

This 7th trumpet will include the 7 cluster judgments [7 thunders] directed at Satan's beast and his kingdom set in the Middle East .... then beast and his human followers will be eliminated in the Lord's lake of fire

And when this destruction is over, the Lord will appear upon the earth and gather the mortal survivors of both Israel and the Gentiles of the nations for separation and those found believing will enter and populate His millennial kingdom upon the earth .... as mortals

.... those found in unbelief will be rejected

No, I did not make a mistake. In Revelation 9:11, one woe is past. Which that woe was Satan opening the bottomless pit and freeing the tormenting locust lead by the angel Abaddon. The second woe in verse 13, is that 4 angels held bound by the Euphrates are loosed to slay a third part of men. Which will be near the end of the seven years.

11 One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.

13 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,

14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.

15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

Those trumpet judgments are not "setting the stage" for the great tribulation. The great tribulation will have begun and the trumpet judgments take place during it.

A third of the trees die and all the green grass - is not setting the stage. A third of life in the oceans dying is not setting the stage. Those are judgments taking place on the earth in the great tribulation.

Revelation 8:6-12 is the first judgment event of the tribulation .... the destruction of the "great city" of the Gentiles

Understand that the visions are layered and each has a specific purpose

Revelation revolves as it moves forward repeating more details related to a specific subject

Like this one, the first stage setting event [Revelation 7:1-8] .... the same 144000 are then seen on their mission [Revelation 14:1-7]

The entrance of Satan and his fallen angles including Abbadon will happen at the onset of the tribulation period .... chapter 9 gives the stage setting of the same .... these will then rage upon the earth throughout the period

Abaddon has to be out of the abyss [Revelation 9:11] at the beginning of the tribulation

He must be activated first for his further involvement in events during the tribulation period

His first will be to destroy the "great city" in one day at the beginning of the tribulation period [Revelation 17:16-18]

This destruction will only be upon the "great city " and surrounding environment, not the whole earth ... the reference to 1/3 tells of 1/3 of the "great city".... not 1/3 of the whole earth

This "great city" [civilization] part of MBG is obviously a large continental civilization [burning mountain] that will fall from its domination of the earth, never to rise again [Revelation 14:8]; 17:16-18; 18]

MBG is the Lord's overview of all of intransigent humanity including Israel, from the flood forward to the ending of this present age .... there will be a particular region of the earth called the "great city" dominating the rest of the cities of the nations at the time of the end

The other fallen angels must be out of their imprisonments and on the earth at the beginning of the beginning of the tribulation for their involvement .... once the 144000 are sealed, these satanic forces will be released for their involvement throughout the tribulation period

I will say this again .... the first 6 judgment trumpets will sound one after the other setting the stage for the tribulation to roll .... separate repeating and layered visions giving more details as Revelation rolls forward

Abaddon has to be out of the abyss [Revelation 9:11] at the beginning of the tribulation
Then Abaddon can't be the beast can he? Because the great tribulation does not happen until the image of the beast is made and placed in the temple. And Abaddon's release comes afterward.

well you can say it a million times if you want. But the trumpet judgements take place after the abomination of desolation has been placed in the temple - which marks the beginning of the great tribulation. And those trumpet judgements take place during the great tribulation; they are not preliminary.

Your statement is total nonsense .... of course Abaddon is Satan's beast released at the beginning of the tribulation .... the abomination of desolation activity will come to Israel 1260 days later

And this abomination is not what you think it is, the attack and invasion of Israel will activate the abomination setting on the temple mount .... and you need to know that the abomination of desolation setting is already on the mount as we speak .... the Muslim Dome of the Rock

Abaddon does not come afterward .... but before

It is this angelic beast that will inhabit the human little horn who will appear at the beginning of the tribulation .... this entity will arise in the northern sector of the Muslim Middle East and set to confederate his kingdom

He will do this by conquering his opposition and by making alliances .... and will then attack Israel at ending of the first 1260 days of the 70th week decreed [Daniel 7; 8; 11:36-44]

I thought you were beginning to grasp these things, but I see now that you are waffling

Is it possible for you to learn? .... maybe not

The dome of the rock has been on the temple mount since 691ad. It is not the abomination of desolation. Because the great tribulation is triggered by the abomination of desolation. And the great tribulation certainly has not been going on since 691ad.

Doug, why do you insist that Satan being cast down to earth is the third woe?
Because there are three woes associated with the last three trumpets. Trumpets 5, 6,7. One of those is said to be the release of the tormenting locust and their angel king Abaddon in the text.

Revelaiton 9:11 One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.

The one woes past is trumpet 5, the tormenting locust and Abaddon. Only two trumpets left for the next two woes. The sixth angel sounds his trumpet, announcing the second of the woes to the people of the earth.

When John gets to the vision in Revelation 11:14, he is reminded that two of the woes are past, shown to him, he is about to quickly find out what the third woe is.

The seventh angel sounds his trumpet, which God asserts His will and the kingdoms of this world are at that moment to be taken from Satan's dominion, which the first step is to cast him and his principality down to earth - the war in heaven and Satan is cast down - woe to the inhabitors of the earth and sea, Revelation 12:12.

The last three trumpets, three woes, involving three sets of angels.

trumpet 5 - Abaddon
trumpet 6 - the 4 Euphrates angels
trumpet 7 - Satan and his angels.

This one will sit in the temple of his "god" who is Satan [2 Thessalonians 2:3-12]

The Muslin Dome of the rock exemplifies the controversy between Isaac and Ishmael and should not be on the mount

But Satan being cast down is not part of the seventh trumpet. Don't you believe that each woe is signified by a trumpet blast?

The 7th trumpet sounds in Revelation 11 following the statement that two woes has passed and the third comes quickly.
The two woes that were shown to John were back in Revelation 9. The third woe following the 7th trumpet sounding is in Revelation 12 and stated as a woe. Satan being cast down because it is the fist step in a process of kingdoms of this world being removed from Satan influence and the Kingdom of God brought to this world.

You mean this part: "But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you!".

I can see why one might think that's the third woe, because it uses the word "woe", although that's far from conclusive. You see, the word "woe" is used all over the Bible. A total of 96 times in fact, so simply seeing that word does not necessarily mean it's one of the three woes of Revelation.

Now you might say that this instance of the word "woe" comes shortly after the other two woes, so therefore it makes sense, but does it really? Or is the book out of order?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to make a fuss about what the three woes really are, because I really don't think it's important, but I just want to make the point that Satan being cast down to earth happened already 2000 years ago. So if that's the third woe, then the first two woes would've happened even earlier than that. Technically possible, I suppose, however, given that the first two woes are tied to trumpets five and six, it would make a lot more sense for the third woe to be tied to trumpet number seven, and we know for a fact that Satan being cast down to earth is not tied to trumpet number seven because trumpet number seven ushers in the judgment and the new earth which we know for a fact to be still future.

Just FYI: The little horn was Antiochus Epiphanes, and he lived 160 years before Christ.

Just for your info

This was Antiochus IV [Daniel 11: 21-35] .... and exact profile given in advance

This is the little horn [Daniel 7; 8; 11:36-45] .... yet to come

Antiochus IV did not pluck up three kings, did not rule with 10 other kings, did not stand up against Jesus Christ, never defeated Egypt, and did not die in Israel

You need to study up on your history son .... the prophets are never wrong
