That's good at least! Why did other people reject you? Just kids being cruel to you?

Well extreme shyness, scared to death to even talk to one person and spent my recesses alone wondering by myself and generally not being able to get along with others. Some teasing, nothing too severe. My school wasn't a haven for bullies. Anyone who resorted to physical violence would be quickly kicked out of the school.

I'm pretty overweight, but I think I'm fairly healthy considering that.

Mental health is more of an issue for me, I have bad anxiety.

Aww, sorry to hear about your anxiety. Mine's been pretty bad these last 5 years. Although reflecting back on my life it was probably around with me for longer, I just used to chalk it up to religious quirks. My mother has it bad, and must have been passed on down to me.

I'm glad you weren't bullied at least. I've never been bullied either but you hear horror stories about it sometimes. My sister was extremely shy when she was little too. One time the school freaked out bc they couldn't find her. She had hidden in a closet bc she was so stressed out about going on stage w her class to sing this song. The police came in & everything. She didn't really start having friends until she was in hs. She's in college now & has totally changed. She's got friends & a boyfriend now.

Good thing my school was too cheap to do plays, lol.

I can make friends pretty easily now, although I don't really want them (I hate parties, and only prefer 1-2 friends that I see on occasion.) HS was a little different for me. While I was still shy, people liked me for some reason, and I became highly known despite not talking to anybody. Which was kind of annoying.

Are you healthy? If so, then why? Young or do you eat healthy and work out? Good genes?

I would say I'm becoming healthy after a long struggle with some health concerns.
It's taught me patience and perseverence :)
I've learned to self-advocate for myself on many levels.
I've learned to research things on my own and bring concerns, comments and research to my doctor.
I've learned that doctors don't know everything (and that they freely admit that)
I've learned that sometimes things can be trial and error.

I'm young(18), I eat organic, I have Celiac (I eat gluten free)
I workout regularly (I love running, horse back riding, skating)

Don't take your health for granted. Do what you can to be the healthiest you possible. :)

Physically and mentally I am unhealthy. Many health problems (physical and mental) run through both sides of my family.

Diabetes, breast cancer, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, IBS, hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, and Crohn's disease are all extremely common for us and most of those appear in nearly every family member on both sides.

I have trouble with motivating myself to cook so I don't eat the best diet, but I try to do well. I have cut out soda and most added sugar, and drastically reduced my consumption of fast food. I eat a lot more fresh vegetables now, and I feel much better even though I haven't lost a single pound (I gained a lot of weight after starting a medication and I am now thinking I'll never be able to lose it. I've been eating better for about a year now with absolutely no change in weight).

Because I have very little energy I don't do much exercise, but I try to walk at least 5 or so miles a day and I have a pedometer that helps me achieve that goal.

Very bad genes, not so great lifestyle.

Walking 5 miles a day is def. a good start to getting fitter! :) Good luck to you with losing the weight you want. I think sometimes it can just happen slowly for some people unfortunately. A ton of my sisters friends gained weight when they started college. I know one girl has had a tough time losing it & she's tried pretty hard. At least if you're not gaining more weight, so that's good.

Maybe its all the junk food students start eating once they leave home.

If you staying at college you not likely to have good home cooked meals..its either student canteen stuff or baked beans on toast.

Probably. It's also bc it's a social thing I think. They have so many restaurants on campus! They're always getting together to eat. There's SO much food in the dining halls. I pig out when I visit.. So many choices. You can eat as much as you want. They even have omelette stations, sushi stations, beligan waffles stations, a rotisserie chicken thing. I'm going to have to be careful to not get fat. I love eating a little too much, lol.

Wow what uni are you attending?
The first uni I went to had student canteen, and there wasnt that much choice. They served you, it wasnt a buffet, but you had a choice of vegetarian or meat. Then at the cafeteria I just remember wedges as that was the cheapest meal.
Then one semester I went to singapore and they had everything on offer. Now that more asian students are attending university over here, I expect the cuisine has gotten better.

Although, with asian meals they arent as fattening as european dishes which are heavy on the meat and cheese and dairy and carbs, plus huge portion sizes PLUS dessert.

I want to go to the University of Chicago. My sister goes there now. Their dining halls are really nice. https://dining.uchicago.edu/ UW has amazing dining halls too that are set up the same. You get to eat as much as you want! They have a ton of food places besides the dining halls too.

Is it america where the schools provide hot lunches everyday?
In nz we always had to bring our own. And there were no kitchens to pepare lunch except to when you got to senior level and then it was only one microwave and a coke vending machine for the entire senior year.
Hence, soggy sandwiches. I think I practically lived on potato crisps at high school.

Its only if you lived or boarded at school that meals were provided.

US schools provide hot lunches and breakfast, though at a cost. They aren't free unless you are poor.

I'm thankful that I am healthy as well. The only physical health problem that I have GERD. I do suffer from GAD, and probably should be on medication for that as well, but am not. I eat pretty healthy, but don't exercise as much as I should so I'm not in great physical shape.

I had a heart attack a year ago. I have high blood pressure sometimes when I check it. I've been diagnosed with Schizoeffective Disorder but I don't believe I have it so I am not on any medication any longer. I also have Periodontal disease (gum disease) and some of my gums are receding. I have one tooth that's broken in half.

I eat very healthy (fruits, vegetables, fish, chicken breast). I try to exercise by walking daily and lifting light weights regularly.

I wonder if the hot meals in US schools are nutritious.
At least you have hot meals.

If we wanted a hot meal at school we had to order a meat pie from the canteen. Which is the most fattening and unhealthy lunch ever. You would think children could have soup at least in winter.

I read in the paper the other day that some schools had banned fizzy drinks and only allow children to have water. Good on them. I think its the cola companies that were pushing sugary drinks on children by sponsoring their schools for good PR. At high school I recall there were NO drinking fountains available at all if you wanted water you had to bring your own bottle and they didnt sell anything but fizz and concentrated fruit juice at the tuckshop.

I live in Canada now but the schools I went to in the US always had hot lunch everyday! You always hear stuff about how it's gross or whatever but I liked it, lol. Most of my friends did too. Some of it def. wasn't healthy. In the 6th grade I ate pepperoni pizza & tater tots every day for like 3 months straight. Plus peanut butter chocolate bars when they had them. They were so good. I stayed skinny bc I've always loved running a ton. I'm a healthyish eater now though. :)
We had all you can eat tacos. The food was good but very unhealthy, lol.

Im in a bit better of a spot than I used to be in. I used to have major back pain, but been on a strict diet and lost a considerable amount of weight. I still have some arthritis in my knee, but other than that, doing pretty great.
