None of the history books I remember in my elementary through high school classes had a section on think tanks as far as I can recall. They didn't mention the partisan ( Heritage Foundation, Center for American Progress, Cato Institute. etc..) or non partisan (CFR, Brookings Institue, etc..) think tanks. I don't beleive this had anything to do with a conspiracy to hide their existence though.

No, I don't believe those responsible for history books try to hide anything, I just can't believe the subject of CFR is so unknown in our society.

But we can't ignore the fact that so many people who know about them, or are members , why these people VERY seldom bring up the subject. They are in Industry, press, finincial, government, all areas of our society.

Obama attended a Bilderberger meeting in Europe recently, nothing in the news, even Obama's press guy wouldn't say where he was.
