No, no, He has something much worse in store for us.

Or worse:

He argued that unstoppable developments in science and technology were likely to prove the biggest danger, adding that the human race may only be able to survive in colonies on other planets in the solar system.

That is called progress. The corrupt is being eliminated.

My thoughts are that we won't make it beyond the next 100 years
That would have been a far bolder prediction, but he didn't dare...and really even that IMO is not exactly radical. Between international tensions, running low on numerous resources, so on and so on....I'm not saying we doomed within 100 yrs, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

granted, my prediction isn't worth much compared to someone of Hawking's esteem.
Of course it is. Credentials may help but hardly equal accuracy or validity to a given person's opinion in themselves.

LOL. Everything Hawking predicted is also prophesied in the Revelation. The new diseases caused by scientists are part of last plague # 5, and are already happening. My wife died from MRSA.

And my brother died of HIV. But just this year we managed to stop an ebola epidemic under very difficult conditions. None of this is comparable with what happened with the Black Plaque of the 14th century. It is just that we no longer expect to die of disease.

My condolences on the passing of your brother.

LOL. The 7 last plagues are poured out after the Great Tribulation of WW II, not in the 14th century. And the 7 last plagues will likely turn out to be far worse than anything that happened in the Middle Ages. Scientists are predicting that global warming plus urban sprawl will trigger the earth's 6th mass extinction.

I'm sorry you lost your brother to AIDS. That's another new disease that is plaguing us. I lost a cousin my same age to AIDS.

What a prediction. Probably a book is in the works to flesh out this prediction a little more. The earth is going to end within the next thousand years. Fascinating. Meanwhile, no one reading this now will be alive to see if it comes true. Or if it doesn't, to throw criticisms at Dr. Hawking.
This is a man who said there is no God.

Hawking agrees with the Bible 100%. First come the 7 last plagues which wipe out all the fish in the sea, and make much of the earth too hot for the survival of life, including human life. And a thousand years from now the earth will indeed be destroyed, either by ourselves or an extra-terrestrial (God). Then we will continue on "a new earth without any sea" (in all probability, Mars, as Hawking says).

Wait... are you saying that God will come in the form of an extra terrestrial?

First of all, Hawking is talking about an end to humanity, not an end to the world. Global warming and virii cause problems, but will not destroy Earth or life on Earth. Global warming would fix itself after being a disaster for people. Disease would do nothing and only might hurt other mammals or certain animals. Nuclear war would cause a problem for quite a while, but certainly isn't an end.

700 millions years or so (as memory recalls) the earth was practically frozen over from pole to equator and life not only survived but went on to rapidly diversify. 65 million years ago, giant asteroid and we are here as a result.

Jesus is a Terrestrial (or at least half-terrestrial). His Father, on the other hand, is pretty much a time-traveling ET who follows the Star-Trek Directive (only interfere in the life of a planet when it is necessary).

Wrong. Hawking is talking primarily about the end of life on earth within a thousand years or so. He says humanity will likely survive (on Mars). That agrees 100% with what the Revelation says.
