  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Did the Catholic Church changed the Sabbath to Sunday?

I don't know. I am so NOT into Eschatology. My attitude about Revelation is JESUS WINS, and that's all you need to know.

Well the RCC appears to have Revelation as "Jesus wins against the Jews and Jerusalem and that is all you need to know." Thus they claim the impure woman and city of Babylon in Rev 17 - is Jerusalem. So also in Rev 18.

Tell us more about finding sabbath based on the moons

Did you mean that as a post to HV?? I don't think BukiRob ever voted for resseting the weekly cycle each month based on the moon.

Well I fast before Mass, but yeah, I keep Sunday's Solemnity for about 2 hours and Sabbath for a day.

on this thread the "solemnity" (the obligatory nature of observance) is transferred from Saturday to Sunday - so is it your thinking that Saturday - 7th day Sabbath "solemnity" was only for 2 hours and that got transferred to Sunday?

Not work on Sat or not work on sun or sabbath can be any once a week. Which
We rest on THE seventh day, not any seventh day. The seventh day begins Friday at sundown and ends Saturday at sundown.

The main part of the Lord's day is what we call our Sunday obligation, which is attending Mass. Even though the fasting and Mass only take up about two hours, it sanctifies the whole day.

It is also to be a day of leisure, but this is not defined, so whatever you think is easy if fine. I don't go to work on Sunday. But I do cook and things like that. Basically, for me Sunday is what the average person would call a vacation day.

I'm very fortunate right now that I don't have to work either Saturday or Sunday. When I start working in the detox unit they may assign me weekend hours, so make hay while the sun shines!

If that is so, then my guess is that the New Era of understanding between Catholics and Jews may effect Catholic eschatology. I'm not sure that there actually is such a thing as Catholic eschatology that is ingrained in stone, other than amillenialism. I always thought many Catholics were partial preterists.

That is a false teaching. No one who worships on Sunday transfers the rules of the Sabbath to it.

Seeing you don't keep the Sabbath according to the law, I really don't understand what your issue is.

So technically you will sin to remain employed. Now that's a real value on one's soul.

Before the big bang
The question was WHEN do we observe Sabbath. You are not answering. Saying you rest in Jesus does not answer the question of when. That you continue to give cutesy answers such as this only continues to document that you don't observe the Sabbath since you don't believe in it. Why are you even involving yourself with this discussion? You are of course perfectly free to participate. I'm just not sure what is in it for you since what day the Sabbath is, is an irrelevancy to you.

Since when is it a sin to heal on the Sabbath?

Even among Jews, certain jobs are perfectly allowable on Shabbat. Doctors work in Hospitals where they save lives. Staff work in homes where they care for residents who otherwise would not be able to care for themselves. It's not the same as having a job in a restaurant, when people can certainly cook for themselves, or at an office, when business can be done on another day. It's the same principal as why women are allowed to do the very demanding labor of child care on Shabbat -- it is NECESSARY labor, not something that can be postponed.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain Halakha! I love this stuff.

Time was created so everything wouldn't happen at once . Manmade questions dont get answered. You dont get to question God.
I celebrate jesus on Sunday with friends. God doesn't look for your legalism.

Who says the questions of men don't ever get answered? God says come let us reason together. He invites our questions. He gave us curious minds, so he created us with the intention that we ask questions--it delights him. Of course, some answers are beyond us, just as children will not understand all adult issues. But our heavenly Father does try to explain things to us.

If you celebrate Jesus on Sunday, I think that's wonderful. I don't think Gentiles are obligated to observe Sabbath. I do think that the Church has set aside Sunday as it's own day of worship. I myself also attend church on Sunday.

Mankind don't care for answers. That's why God does the choosing and saving without men doing anything. That's why they can't boast. The arminians boast away like crazy drowing deep in pride

Actually, I think that mankind is always looking for answers, including spiritual answers. That's why we have so many religions.

Your charicature of Arminians is nothing but a flame. Flaming is not an argument. Nor is a non-sequitur.
