• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Food additive-related attacks

I know two people who lived through heart attacks in their forties, both of whom went to a restaurant, thought they ate something bad, and ended up in emergency in the middle of the night.

Both were very fit, ate healthy, knew all the right things to do. Both had responsible jobs, but might have been under stress. Both were certain it was just stomachache, and were fortunate enough to have friends who drove them to get it checked.

The common denominator was restaurant food.

I would like to find out if other people have seen this happen, and whether they think it might have been msg or other food additives that triggered the event.

Someone close to me gets chest pains whenever they consume msg around the dinner hour. They can handle soups and fast food for lunch, but dinner needs to be msg-free. (Yes, they should cut it out altogether.) It is even difficult for them to eat at family dinners, where people serve packaged or prepared food.

Has anyone found research related to this, or seen/had similar experiences?

I guess they never checked their cholesterol level
I'm 52 and 4 years ago my blood pressure was 210/120 and triglyceride 440 which could easily have killed other people.
Now i live with care, avoiding fried food and red meat, even the olive oil which is marketed as healthy has proven to increase my trigliceride level to 350 last month. all oils are triglycerides, avoid it.

regarding the chest pain, its that delicious red meat which is responsible for coronary blockage. i simply eat chicken and fish.

I even fasting regularly for 7 days without eating and only drink thin juice and guess what it hurt but it also refresh my body like a resurrection.

btw dont use toothpaste with fluor, it weakens ur bones.

Jesus bless u all HalleluYah

I had a blood pressure of 195/119 when I went to the doctor once. With exercise and diet we were able to get a reading of 115/76. The nice thing about diet is that you do not have to lose the weight, you only have to have your body in weight loss mode and you will reap the same benefits. So it is not always the destination that is so important as long as we are heading in the right direction and making progress. Although Paul says it is those that finish the race that reap the reward.

Four times I had an irregular heartbeat after eating pizza. I do not know if it was the fat or the salt, but I am afraid to eat pizza now. One theory is that salt can cause water retention and that can cause a number of different problems. So I tend to follow a strict low salt diet.

I survived death about five times after eating delicious food at restaurants because i always carry
with me ascardia and captopril, and swallowed it each 4 pcs as soon as i almost fell down but the pain remain for hours due to the cholesterol. especially that kebuli rice with goat meat really kicks the head and also beef steaks.
the red meat is very dangerous for people above 40. i'm 52 now.

Not sure what you are saying here. Is it, that restaurant food can stimulate a heart attack?

There is no such thing as selectively losing weight (spot reducing fat).

When you lose fat, you lose it from all over the body. Studies have shown, people who tend to store fat in certain locations, are more prone to heart conditions and this is a genetic issue.
