Blacks are actually just as likely to have a measurable bias against other blacks as they are against whites (at least according to the IAT). But then again, last I checked, blacks and whites are the same species.

Not to mention, I actually don't prefer my own species. I like dogs way more than humans.

I shudder when I hear that phrase.

If preferring one race to another isn't racist, what is?
Preference isn't racism. Totally refusing to associate with a group of of people because of their ethnicity is though. Naturally gravitating to people who look like you is natural. It becomes racism when you refuse to associate, do business, hire, or any other sort of specialized treatment of one group over another.

Is it really? Because all of my friends are different ethnicities. I don't get on that well actually with "white" people.

The assumption is that people are more comfortable around those that look like them because those are naturally going to be those in their own family or homogenous community- which is how most of the world has been traditionally. This is why I don't begrudge anyone of a ethnic minority that likes to be part of groups or organizations that celebrate their group. For example, I have a friend that comes from a county that is so white her family are the only blacks that live in the entire county. Her boyfriend is white, most of her friends are white, but she is in a black sorority and finds it a novel experience being around other black women that she's not related to for a change and has stated she feels more comfortable- and I get that.

Also- just like the article I posted- very young children show this type of preference- and there is no way a three-month-old can be racist.

I'm "white", and while I was in the military, there was news reporting about certain "black" people acting up. So, when some Afro guys were making a little noise in the meal line, I took more notice of them, than I would of "white" guys doing a little mouthing off.

And I noticed I was doing this . . . oh-oh.

Later, I became intensely concerned about what God wants with me. I decided to phone a number of churches and ask two questions >

What is the meaning of Jesus on the cross?

And what do I need to do to become a Christian?

I would see who I found gave me the best answer, and I would see how each person related with me.

And then, in going to a certain church, I discovered I was walking into an Afro neighborhood where I had read that someone had been stabbed, and it was night; but I did not care.

After integrating some number of Afro churches and worship services, I got in a habit > whenever I walked by an Afro lady downtown in the city, I would look to see if she was carrying a Bible. But I never looked to see if Afro men or non-Afros were carrying Bibles. So, yes, I took this to mean I had developed another sort of discrimination problem.

But now I have gotten involved with various Christians of various backgrounds, and they all have helped me with their example of how to love any and all people :)

Beauty discrimination can be degrading. Ones even use what one looks like, to decide if they will love that person. But such people do not know how to love, and then in marriage they fail to benefit how they could.

Can you link to me some article that supports the bolded? I haven't heard of that before. I come from a white and quite wealthy environment with Liberal, arty parents who did in fact interact with people from many different backgrounds, so I was lucky in that sense. However, my college was predominantly white and yet I married a man who was not white. There are many, many mixed marriages of which I am personally aware, not to mention those I do not. Why are all of those people not more comfortable around those who look like them? What makes them different? I know African Americans married to Asians, Hispanics married to Asians, and other configurations that I shalln't list because I begin to question why I find the details necessary. So why does my brother in law marry a girl from Thailand? He wasn't brought up around Asians, and she isn't dark skinned like the girls he grew up with, nor does she have other African American attributes/features. These aren't isolated cases. I know a lot of people in interracial marriages, and I did try to find some stats, but sadly the only stats I could find were on very racist websites, which I won't link here. Regardless, it seemed to average out across those websites that approximately 10% of all American marriages are interracial. That's around 32 million people. That is a LOT of people who are not as comfortable around those who look like them.

Yes- a lot of people do marry those of other ethnicities. Most people- due to mostly geography and racial make up of the communities in which they live- are only exposed to those that generally look like them. Things that can also effect people are lots of exposure to other ethnicities and a sense of shame and self-hatred of one's own group that is internalized. Studies have been done on this. This is also specifically just about automatic preference, and some of the things you're talking about don't seem to hit on the topic of automatic preference necessarily (just because people marry those ofother ethnic groups or have friends that don't look like them or are even comfortable around other people that aren't like them doesn't mean they also won't/can't express these same automatic preferences we're talking about). Children, in tests where they are asked to make a forced choice with minimal pairs, will overwhelmingly show an in-race preference. This does vary when parameters are changed, et cetera, but it can't be denied that this is a thing.

I am currently in the process of renting my upstairs apartment. There are several ethnicities I will not rent to, not based on physical appearance but behaviors strongly associated with their culture that I don't like (can't stand the smell of Indian cooking.....too much curry).

Is cooking a 'behavior' now?

The DNA spread between certain races are higher than the DNA spread between various classes of animals widely recognized as different species in biological taxonomy. Race = species.
... and not a citation in sight, nor even an example of such species.

Who's shocked?
