I have several friends/family members who are smokers but I don't approve of it. I think it's unhealthy and unsafe, and I also find it somewhat disrespectful of those around. So I prefer, if someone is going to smoke, for them to smoke not in the presence of other folks. It often bothers people, and for some it can induce Asthma or allergy attacks or other health related issues so I think that it is respectful to keep it away from other folks. Of course I would love for my friends/family to quit simply because it's unhealthy, but I know quitting is hard so I love them as they are and just pray they quit, for their own health and the health of those around them. As for it being a sin, personally I feel it is because it's harming your body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and it's also an addiction and costs money that could be used in a wiser way. But with that said, there are many things that the same could be said of, so I am in no position to judge someone for smoking when clearly, there are things in my own life that I could say are just as sinful.

I agree!

As for myself, I think it's unhealthy and not a good thing to begin with, I can enjoy anything in life that replaces all the moments of smoking. But, because I never experienced it either, I am not judging people that are smoking and enjoy doing it. It is up to them to decide if they want to continue or stop later. And yes sometimes I am not happy either when people start smoking next to me, and I will peacefully tell them that I don't like what they're doing next to me. But most of the times I am tolerant to them and I'll not bother with any of their business and just step back a little.
I see it as an archievement that I have never smoked, well at least cigarettes. I am not sure yet if I'd ever start smoking cigars though, because I don't know what the consequences are of smoking those.

I used to smoke, there's nothing wrong with it other than being called a social parasite by everyone and it's unhealthy. Only problem I had giving it up is the amount of weight I gained in the process which is also unhealthy for me. So I can't win either way.

It is horrible and unhealthy and I have seen way too many people die of either Lung Cancer and other related illnesses such as Stroke and Heart Failure because of smoking.I understand how people my age age older have become addicted to Nicotine and cigarettes because the studies back then were not as prevalent at the time on how harmful the use of cigarettes were, but teens and adults today who are starting to smoke don't make any sense at all to me.

I don't smoke, never have, but i don't hate smokers. It's an addiction/habit like any of the many others we are all prone to. An "addiction" can very well be a "bondage" in that it has a "hold" of us, keeps in a grip/prison, so to speak. That's what bondage is, being "chained" to it and needing to be set "free".

I thank God I was able to quit almost 8 years ago after smoking for 30 years. I wish I had quit sooner. Sadly, my lungs may not be able to recover completely.
