1 Chronicles Chapter 22

This is a very interesting chapter. We learn in Verse 8 that David was not to build the temple because he had shed much blood upon the earth fighting the enemies of Israel.

Then in Verse 9 we learn that Solomon is to build the temple because he was to be a man of rest. God wanted the Temple in Jerusalem to be built during a time of peace. God promised that there would be a time of peace for the whole of Solomon's reign, so that Solomon could build a beautiful temple to God.

hmmmm.....there's prob'ly a reason for them to stand and praise God....it must have some special significance to God?

Brinny.

It says that the Levites were to be religious leaders and it might be that to lead the prayers the Levites would need to be standing.

When you think about it, it's precious to actually have a recorded lineage.....if it wasn't there, the lineage could be challenged and/or denied....

God is VERY wise, isn't He?

David wisely guided Solomon on the hows and plans and gave all that was needed to build the temple....

the temple must've been magnificent beyond words

...just wondering if it was a glimpse of the glory of heaven...

the tribute to David and the manner of his death recorded here, full of honor and grace, was precious to read. David was honored in his death, and would be honored throughout eternity for his heart for God and for being the "apple of God's eye"....

there was no dread or tragic regret in his death, but triumph and victory.

How precious it was that God wove all of it together for David as his earthly life ended. It's quite a testimony.

Brinny.

There can be no doubt that King David was a wonderful man.

King David was never defeated in battle.

The state of Israel grew to its largest size.

This was the high point of Israels power and influence.

Then King David also wrote most of the Psalms.

This was a great man. With a great mind.

The Psalms are the most beautiful words in the Bible.

What a man. What a mind. What a fabulous achievement.

God seemed to be delighted with Solomon's response when asked what he wanted, and God gave him wisdom, the likes that never been seen before, AND riches, honor, and blessings innumerable, because of Solomon's delightful response.

Perhaps this is what it means to bless God, as demonstrated by Solomon's request for wisdom....
