  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well we have rightly seen Microsoft's new CEO (nutella or whatever is name is) giving praise to Linux recently and to further this assimilation Microsoft introduces OneGet. Yes the company of innovations has announced a software repository tool for the command line - oh, praise innovation:bow::doh:

Yes okay, Linux has had software repos since time began - well 1990's anyway. But yes, let's praise Microsoft for their new innovation on the desktop too by the name of virtual desktops . Oh hang on, silly me forgot Linux has had those for about 15 years or so.

Just wonder how many other things Microsoft beg, borrow or steal from Linux before Windows 10 gets released.

What I hear you say, they might offer Windows 10 for free? - Don't be silly that would be just like......Linux.

Not as though it hasn't happened before, that nice Win 7/8/10 desktop look (probably) came from the Linux KDE Desktop project.

This actually makes me more hopeful that the year of the linux desktop is in the near future.

Unfortunetly, Linux is also starting to follow Microsoft's path....especially Ubuntu which has cloud services and social media integrated.

There will always be other distros, so if Ubuntu's integration of those services encourages people to switch over from Windows, I'm all for it.

Linux is free, Windows will put a hole in your pocket.

Linux has 1.25% of the desktop market, Windows has 95%.

Maybe the true believers should ask themselves how that makes sense, given that Linux is such a great system.

Is this one of those Operating System religious wars?
