Why does the Bible say to "fear the Lord"?

because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. (and the beginning of knowledge too (see below))

Psalm 111:10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Because they loved darkness and their sin and loathed His Light:

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." ~John 3:19

because he struck the rock instead of just speaking the Word of Yhvh to it for water to come forth.
His anger mis-represented Yhvh's compassion and provision to the Israelites,

Numbers 20:7-12King James Version (KJV)

7 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

9 And Moses took the rod from before the Lord, as he commanded him.

10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

12 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

(and provides a lesson ever since then for all of us who are within Yhvh's Will)

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Because in anger he disobeyed God by striking the rock instead of talking to it.

Numbers 20:11 Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.

John 9 King James Version (KJV)

9 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

For God's Glory. "That the works of God ... be manifest in him."

Good! Now about why the adults perished in the wilderness instead of getting to enter the PROMISED LAND ?

why were all the other adults who left egypt (except joshua and caleb) not allowed to enter the PROMISED LAND, while their children who survived the 40 years in the wilderness were allowed to?
This one is HUGE... These adults refused to enter the Promised land, would have stoned Moses, Joshua and Caleb, et. al., and returned to Egypt.

Only Joshua and Caleb returned from spying in the Promised Land giving a good report. All the other spies gave report of Giants that made them look like grasshoppers in comparison, and a land that devoured the inhabitants thereof.

Numbers 13:16 through Number 14:24
Numbers 14
22 Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:
24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
God was going to destroy all the people, but Moses prayed for them, and the sentence was that none who had seen the miracles of God as an adult and, refused to enter the Promised Land for fear, would ever enter, but would all die off in the wilderness over the 40 years time.

he fell in love with her....(what two-fold answer?) It also appears he didn't respect his parents...he even went so far as to SEND his parents to get her, as if he's giving them "orders"

And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines. And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife. Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well. ~Judges 14:1-3

Answer number one, correct, but read the NEXT VERSE...

This has been mischaracterized as long as I have been aware, because people stop there. Also, take note he never ever actually "married" her as we use the term. There was a ceremonial engagement, and parties, but she was given to his "best man" because he didn't come back for a long while.

(">< the next verse: ) " 4 His father and mother didn’t know that all this came from Adonai, who was seeking grounds for a quarrel with the P’lishtim. (At that time the P’lishtim were ruling Isra’el.)

as in "He works out ALL THINGS for the good of those who LOVE GOD , who keep HIS commandments." --- even the heart of a king is water in GOD's HANDS. So all the decisions of men/man/kings , are subject to GOD :) :) :) :) :) ((willingly , or unwillingly))... but now(with agreement :) ) this gets to go to PRAYER, as needed(be thankful to God ), and

with a question WHY is it good and necessary for a person to become like a little child, even if they have already lived a long life and they've even been a teacher ?
