Most Muslim I know don't see to be laughing at the US. They seem to want to live their life in peace. Also didn't Christians used to stone children and people, that were bad.

First, no, you don't get to dodge. Christians did some rather barbaric things. I don't even need to touch the contents and commands of the Bible.

Second, you fail to realize it was that way in Christian Europe until about the 1700s. It's not like Catholics or Protestants fought in wars with each other, or people fled to America to avoid religion persecution, or Spain and Portugal forcibly deported its Jewish communities or anything of the sort.

Yes, Christians did some barbaric things and some other Christians still do barbaric things. Just like some Buddhists do barbaric things and Atheists do other barbaric things.
You can't judge a band by its fans and instead must judge ideologies by their book. Or do we criticise Democracy because democrats have committed genocidal acts? The Quoran clearly advocates the killing of unbelievers who "mistreat" Muslims, with a broad spectrum of political-religious rulings that define how this "mistreatment" looks like. Not to mention the fact that Islam is an ideology that defines government style, law and regulates all affairs of day-to-day life.
Since I've already addressed this point today, here:

Christians are bound to follow the commandments set forth in the New Testament.
Tell me, where in the New Testament are these commandments you speak of?

You can criticise the violent history of Christianity and I find your points legitimate.
But you cannot get away with equating Christianity with the perverse ideology that the Islamic State is following.

I just want to let you know that you probably won't get a reply until at least this time tomorrow. My response requires me to sit down and write it out on something more than a phone.

Okay, this isn't the 1700s, everyone that committed the acts you're referring to have been dead and buried for hundreds of years...

We're looking at the here and now, not stuff that happened a long time ago where unless you have a TARDIS in your backyard, there isn't anything we can do about what happened in the pre-1700s.

When will atheists be allowed to use the same argument for their 'black sheep' like stalin and pol pot?

I was referencing the fact that trying to excuse what some group is doing now, because of what some other group did a couple hundred years ago, isn't a valid argument.

Don't sweat it. :) Since we're dragging this thread off topic, you might as well reply in the thread that was listed. It might take some time for me to reply back though.

"Atheism" is not a defined ideology, as such any criticism of "Atheism" is irrelevant. You can criticise an Atheist doctrine (if, for example, there were a manifesto that advocates killing of Theists) but you can't categorically throw all Atheists into one pot.

Again - you can't criticise an ideology for its followers.
You can only criticise an ideology or manifesto - as such, the "manifesto" of the Quoran can be criticised. Muslims are followers of the Quoran and thus this criticism can extend to those who identify with this book.

How could it be underway? The battle of Har Meggido is fought between the Beast and the armies of the earth, and Yeshua and the armies of heaven. Clearly there is no such heavenly army right now. If anything, this is preparation for the Gog/Magog war.
The Euphrates was dry on 9/11. We are now dropping 100 pound "hailstones" on the seventh head of the beast.

Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

These people are worse than the Nazis

Some may think that it is ok to do the same to their children but no we must not stoop to their level.
because we would be no better than them.

Great Bible reference!
A "millstone" [along with musicians and craftsmen], is also mentioned in the Jewish/Hebrew Christian book of Revelation concerning Babylon/Jerusalem....:idea:

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD
THE DESTRUCTION OF OC JERUSALEM AND TEMPLE IN AD70

Revelation 18:
21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, "Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in Thee;
and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in Thee;
and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in Thee;

*snip*

After the destruction of
the temple in 70 A.D., the Jews forbade the use of instruments in worship. "
As long as the Judaeo-Christians remained one of the Jewish sects, they continued the musical traditional of their forefathers." Again, "How far Judaism's prohibition of all instrumental music used shortly after the destruction of the temple had influenced the cause of events, is hard to determine.

But if we didn't have the laws we have in the US. These practices still would be going on.

Murder is still murder, and the 1st Amendment is a part of the US Constitution.

Murdering someone has been considered to be a crime for centuries, the only problem was that there was selective enforcement at times.

I'm going to be quite blunt, Hate Crime laws are generally rather redundant (and one could argue it is nothing more than an attempt to divide people), if someone murders someone cause they hate them over their religion/skin color/etc. it doesn't make them any better or worse that someone that kills another person out of envy/greed/jealousy/etc. The fact of the matter is they still killed committed murder.

Hate Crime laws could also feed into some people's mindset that one group of people is getting preferential treatment over another.

In a jury I probably wouldn't vote to convict someone of a hate crime (there are a few instances that I probably would convict someone of a hate crime, but it would be fairly rare), but I would still vote to convict them of the actual crime itself. In the case of a mugging, I quite frankly don't care if it was out of racial animousity, or the criminal just wanted to steal the victim's wallet; they committed the crime and they should suffer the consequences. I'm not going to play psycho-analyze someone as to their motivation for hauling off and attacking someone for no real reason.

Getting back to the original topic, I would say that this would classify as one of the rare times I would classify this as a mass hate crime, and attempted genocide. We need to put a stop to ISIS now, before we end up facing terrorist attacks in the United States from them (cause they're going to have a lot more resources to work with than Al Qaeda did when they attacked us on 9/11/2001).

Good post and I concur.

ISIS is nothing more than a large power hungry gang of homicidal and psychopathic thugs and mass murderers, and should be treated as such, just as Sada H. and his murderous thugs were treated....

Exactly...

Assuming this group ever got as far as the Iraq border if Bush were still President, he would have had our military bomb their vehicle convoy, then bomb the crater, and the bomb it again for good measure.

There is sometimes something to be said for cowboy style diplomacy.

Saddam Hussein being 'treated' like that is what got Iraq in this mess in the first place.

If Saddam were still president, he would have dealt with ISIS, too. His military was no opponent for the US army with its helicopters, cruise missiles and bombs, but it would have been more than up to the challenge of a few radicals in technicals.

People would have said the same thing about the Dictator in Syria, and look at Syria now, it is a total mess.
