This brings up a question: is it ok to just pray them as any other prayer? Without chanting it in the proper tone?

I hope so. I can't chant anything. Except the things I hear week after week and now hear in my mind whenever I want.

Lord, have mercy. Been praying for those in the M.E. and Gaza, and sporadically Russia/Ukraine. Need to step up the latter. Been focused on the former.

This makes me think of today. We always pray the post-communion prayers (pretty lengthy) as people are leaving the church. Usually like 3-4 of us at least pray these taking turns. Today Father just BLASTS out "glory to thee our God, glory to thee our God, glory to thee our God!" which signals us to start them. Nobody was doing them! Everyone left and people who usually do them just weren't? It was weird! Like some Twilight Zone episode! LOL. So I dart over, open to the pages, start praying, nobody chimes in....in short, I had to pray ALL those long prayers by myself! ROFL! The whole way through I'm thinking, "anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?" LOL

It was kind of nice, though. Beautiful prayers. I have a decent chanting voice. Nothing great. Just fair. Passable.
