Why Jesus won't reign on this Earth for 1,000 years

The Scriptures not only do not promise an earthly reign, they teach that Christ will not reign on the earth. Consider the following:


(1) God decreed that no descendant of Coniah (Jeconiah or Jehoichin) "shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah" (Jer.22:28-30). Since Jesus is a descendant of Jeconiah through Salathiel (Matt.1:12; Lk.3:27), His throne must therefore be somewhere other than Judah, or His kingdom will fail. This excludes an earthly reign of Christ from Jerusalem.

(2) According to prophecy, the Branch of David (Jer.33:15-18) would be "a priest upon his throne" (Zech.6:12,13). Jesus is the Branch of David (Rev.5:5; 22:16) and a priest upon His throne (Heb.6:20; 7:1), yet He cannot be a priest on earth (Heb.8:4). Because He is not a descendent of Levi. Therefore, His reign as King cannot be on the earth!

(3) The Jews readily admitted that Christ would be "The son of David" (Matt.22:42). So, Jesus cast them a dilemma. "How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? If David then call him Lord, how is he his Son?" (Matt.22:43-45; cf.Psa.110:1). The Jews could not answer because they did not understand the true nature of the kingdom. Yet Peter explained its meaning on Pentecost (30 A.D.) when he said that Jesus was raised from the dead to sit on David's throne at the right hand of God where He rules as Lord and Christ (Acts 2:29-36). David, Jesus and Peter understood that the reign of Christ would be in heaven at God's right hand. Since Jesus is to reign at the right hand of God till the end (1 Cor.15:24-26), there can be no earthly reign of Christ!

He will reign for 1000 years, literally.

This literal 1000 year reign will be the Day of Rest that the scriptures speak of.

Premillennialists read Rev. 20:4 so horrifically.

And who is reigning with Christ for a 1,000 years?

The SOULS of those beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshipped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands.

The SOULS spoken of in Revelation 6:9-11 are the same SOULS spoken of in 20:4!

Who are these SOULS, the 1st century Martyrs of the Neronian persecutions. They are reigning in heaven not on earth with Christ for a "1,000" years. They aren't resurrected yet. They are still SOULS!!!!!

How long is this covenant in effect?(Jeremiah 33 tells us):

20 Thus saith the Lord; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;

21 Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.


When the covenant of the sun and moon are broken then at that time there will be no need for the sacrifices and the davidic king and levitic priest because Jesus will then at that time after the 1000 year milleniuma and the new heaven and new earth are created will Jesus come and dwell with man because as Jesus' stated his kingdom is not of this earth but of the new heaven and new earth and as we see in revelation 21 Jesus is the light and there is no need for the sun and moon as a that covenant is broken with sun and moon....and david and joseph(the high priest) but david and joseph will sit on the left and right of Jesus as david(prince of kings) and joseph(prince of priests) for all eternity.

Everything is done so that scripture can be fulfilled. God required animal sacrifice for thousands of years if he wants it to happen again for 1000 years then it's going to happen even if we don't understand why. But we do understand why and that is to fulfill scripture and covenants.

certainly David is called the king of Israel and the prince but david is the prince of kings not the prince of priests

and is not David in charge of the kingly side of the kingdom and owns all the land

The prince of Ezekiel doing the sacrifices only owns a small portion of land

He will inherit a small parcel of land near the temple. This is the entire land granted to this prince. These Scriptures follow:

Ezekiel 45:6 "And ye shall appoint the possession of the city five thousand broad, and five and twenty thousand long, over against the oblation of the holy portion: it shall be for the whole house of Israel . (7) And a portion shall be for the prince on the one side and on the other side of the oblation of the holy portion…"







Notice in verse seven the prince only receives a tiny portion of land. Is this the land for David, the King over all the earth? Psalms 2 clearly states that the David will inherit the entire earth, not just a small parcel of land in the nation of Israel :

Psalms 2:6 “Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. (7) I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
(8) Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.”


When you read prince don't always be so sure it is David because there is also the other witness that is called up hither also and he is surnamed the names of the priests....elijah.....joshua....aaron..etc and will be in charge of the sacrifices in the 1000 year millenium because you cant have a levitical priesthood without a High Priest(prince of the priests)

Isa. 66:23 teaches that we will keep the Sabbath, it also teaches we will keep the New Moon festival! This is on earth in the Millennium period- not in heaven."

If the Sabbath and feast days and the sacrifices are done away with in Christ how do we reconcile these two seemingly contradictory positions? How can there be a return to the sacrificial system without taking away from the meritorious sacrifice of Christ?

Millennial Israel will have at its center the Temple. Sacrifices (Ezek. 40:38-39), will continually be done during the Kingdom Age (Ezekiel 45:13 – 46:15)



The problem is easily solved if we view them as being COMMEMORATIVE rather than EFFICACIOUS


The sacrifices will be a memorial, just as animal sacrifice was a shadow of what was to come in the sacrifice Jesus made for salvation. Just as communion is practiced today looking back. They will not be propitiation, or effacacious (they will have no power to redeem) but are a reminder of what took place. The reason this will be instituted is because there will be many unbelievers born in the Millennial period, they will be sinners that will need to understand the sacrifice Christ did. Since his sacrifice is the final one, that cannot be repeated the types he fulfilled will be illustrative of his accomplishment.

the millennial sacrificial system will be instituted as a commemorative celebration of the completeness of the last and efficacious sacrifice of our Saviour, Jesus Christ our Lord and redeemer. The temple will truly become a house of prayer for all nations.

This temple will be replaced with God when the new heaven and new earth are created and God dwells with man after the 1000 year millenium...(Rev 21:22:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.


The two witnesses who were raised after 3.5 days of lying dead in the street after the 7 year tribulation will govern the millenial kingdom and will appoint kings and priests in hierarchical postions as to cover the human government dispensation as one of the 6 dispensations that will be combined in the 1000 year millenium.




The 1000 year millenium will be governed by the Levitic high priest(Joseph) and the Davidic king....the davidic king will also have the title of prince of kings and the levitic high priest will have the title prince of priests as the millenial kingdom is a kingdom of kings and priests!

Then satan is loosed and war comes once again until Jesus comes as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS and satan and death are cast into the lake of fire and the new heaven and new earth are created and Jesus reigns as KING AND PRIEST forever after the order of melchelzedek with the prince of kings(David) on his right and prince of priests(Joseph) on his left for all eternity

Well throw out the book of Ezekiel in your bible because Eziekel clearly shows a davidic king, a temple, and animal sacrifices in the 1000 year millenium. It isn't til after the 1000 year millenium that the new heaven and new earth are created.

The most obvious problem presented here is that the book of Hebrews (e.g., 10:1–18) speaks of the death of Christ on the cross as a termination of the efficacy of bloody animal sacrifices, such as those Israel offered in the temple. If Ezekiel’s vision applies to a future time, why do we again find the offering of animal sacrifices?


The vision presents a centralized worship in a specified geographical place. In the Old Testament, people were expected to approach the tabernacle, or (later) the temple, for this purpose (Deut. 12:5, 11). Jesus, however, announced to the Samaritan woman that the time of centralized worship was soon to end and to be replaced with spiritual worship, which does not depend on being in any particular place (John 4:21–24; cf. Acts 7:48–50).

In Ezekiel’s vision, the Levites and Aaronic priesthood are seen in their former places of service. According to the New Testament, there has been a change of the priesthood (Heb. 7:12). The Jewish priesthood has been replaced by a different priesthood (1 Pet. 2:5) and a non-Aaronic high priest (Jesus). This modification will not be reversed, for Chr is said to be “a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek” (Ps. 110:4; Heb. 7:17, 21).

Literal Interpretation Is Not Always Best. While the difficulties of the dispensational interpretation seem insurmountable, its only strength lies in its hermeneutic of literal interpretation. There is another hermeneutic principle, however, that overrides literalism—namely, the superior revelation given in Christ.

Hebrews 1:1–3 affirms that, while God spoke to Israel through various prophets in the past, the revelation that has come through Christ is more comprehensive because He is no mere prophet, but “the brightness of [God’s] glory and the express image of His person.” The New Testament is not a mere appendix added to the writings of the Old Testament prophets. It is a revelation of the new order in Jesus Christ, in whom all previous revelation finds its fulfillment, and through whom all previous revelation must be understood.

Christ opened the understanding of His disciples so that they “might understand the [Old Testament] scriptures” (Luke 24:45). This being the case, it would be foolish for us to seek a meaning of the prophets contrary to that which Christ and the apostles taught. It is their witness that provides the strongest objections to any literalistic interpretation of Ezekiel 40–48. In Christ’s new order (which, unlike the old order, is permanent), the temple, priesthood, and sacrifices are likewise spiritual (1 Pet. 2:5).Making Sense of the Vision.

How then are we to understand the temple vision?


First, one might reasonably refer to the vision as that which “might have been,” had the Jewish exiles in Babylon exhibited a more thorough repentance than they did. There is an indication that the realization of this vision in Israel’s future was contingent on the people being sufficiently ashamed, or repentant, of their past sins: “Son of man, describe the temple to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the pattern. And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the design of the temple” (Ezek. 43:10–11).

The response of the Jews to their opportunity to return and to rebuild their temple was notoriously tepid. Only a small remnant opted even to return to Jerusalem, while the rest were content to remain in Babylon. As a result, the temple they built proved to be inferior to the one that Ezekiel described.

Though the Jews did not meet the conditions to have such a temple as Ezekiel’s, the pattern preserved in these chapters stands as a description of an intended order, which, had it materialized, would have testified, as the tabernacle once did, as a type and shadow of “heavenly things” (Heb. 8:5)—the new order in Jesus Christ. This, we may assume, was the long-term purpose served by the vision.

Though some features of the vision were probably intended symbolically from the start (e.g., the seemingly miraculous, ever-deepening river), it is probable that the temple and its rituals would have been literally instituted, as here described, had Israel met God’s conditions.

Whether or not the temple had ever actually been rebuilt, the new revelation in Christ encourages us to see its pattern as having been fulfilled in Jesus Christ Himself, who is the final atoning sacrifice and the eternal high priest of God’s people

They lived is a reference to the resurrection of the dead which takes place on earth.

The bodies of the dead in Christ who sleep in the earth will be resurrected by Jesus christ at His Coming.

Jesus Christ will remain in heaven seated upon the Throne of God the Father, until the time of the restoration of all things.

He will leave heaven with the saints of God and return to earth to gather the saints from the earth as He gathered the saints from heaven.

He will then be seated upon His throne of Glory in Jerusalem and will separate the sheep from the goats on earth.

There are many reasons against that, including timing the "resurrections" and "deaths" mentioned. The Jerusalem it is referring to in Rev 20-21 is never "on the ground" until the new earth.

He will then be seated upon His throne of Glory in Jerusalem and will separate the sheep from the goats on earth.

Jeconiah's curse states there will never be a descendent of David on the throne in Israel, because that throne is in Heaven.

Acts 2:30-36 speaks of Christ's coronation as King. That coronation doesn't happen on a future date here on earth it already happened in Heaven.

Are you denying Christ is king? Or are you insinuating Christ is a king without a kingdom? That Christ is still waiting to be crowned, exalted, and glorified?

Premillennialists have never considered that the entire concept of an earthly throne is an apostasy that angered God from the time of the first king Saul to the last king before the Babylonian captivity.

c. ""When you saw that Nahash the king of the sons of Ammon came against you, you said to me, 'No, but a king shall reign over us,' although the Lord your God was your king. 4. The next king to sit on the throne of God was David and God promised in a rare double prophecy that two of his seed would sit on his throne: Solomon on earth and Christ in heaven at the resurrection:

"He shall build for Me a house, and I will establish his throne forever. b. Notice that just as Solomon was king when he built the physical temple on earth, that Christ was the king who would build the church temple in heaven.

c. Christ had to be a king to build the temple. We are the temple of God, the church, our bodies!

d. Jesus must be sitting on the throne of David in order to build the church temple!

b. "Besides, Solomon has even taken his seat on the throne of the kingdom. Jesus Christ literally returns to Jerusalem to rule and judge from His Throne, not His Father's Throne, which is in Heaven.

The age to come will occur when Jesus returns with His saints and He will resurrect all those who are His at the end of this age, on the last Day.


We will receive bodies that will never die, and we will shine like the sun in the kingdom of our Father.
